ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 12:50

Around 8 months ago I started cutting my calories to loose weight
Crept up to nearly 12 stone
I'm 5ft 7 so it's not always obvious on me but I felt it
Anyway now I'm 9 stone 4 and still loosing
Tbh I'm happy with my weight now
I don't really want to loose more but I'm not sure if my diet is too little to maintain and il loose more.
Breakfast -2 egg omelette
Lunch -2 slices of bread (120 cals ) with a egg mayo or cheese savoury filler (170 cals )
Dinner -something around 600-700 cals
Snacks -1 biscuit (100 cals )

My only exercise is 10,000 steps a day
Before I put the weight on I was slim and always struggled to gain then I got a partner and put it on with lockdown (no steps ) etc

What do you think ?

You need to just gradually increase your calories until your weight plateaus. Add things like veg to the omelette, maybe a slice of toast or some avocado. To the sandwiches, have some carrot sticks and a yoghurt on the side. Fruit with your biscuits (nothing wrong with a biscuit or two). Your dinner sounds fine

Well if you're still losing weight, you're not eating enough. Add 100-200 kcal and see what happens. I'd add healthy snack or addition to lunch like carrots and houmous/ peanut butter (protein and veg)

Edited

No, if she's still losing weight she is in a calorie deficit, rather than not eating enough. OP try reverse dieting and add a couple of hundred calories per day and see how you get on.

Try adding a lean source of protein such as skyr at lunchtime. Or adding ham to your breakfast omelette.

I don’t know how they survive!!

Eh? She has veg with her dinner. She sometimes has ham salad for lunch. She probably has veg in her omelette. This thread is mad.

@Notsuretoputit I doubt she's getting 5 portions at dinner.

SallyWD · 26/03/2024 14:33

If you're losing weight you're clearly eating less calories than you need. I'm your height and would look a bit too skinny at 9st 4lbs.
I'd focus on nutritious food. Your diet seems to be lacking in fresh fruit and veg. I know you said you eat veg with dinner but you could eat more throughout the day. An avocado with breakfast or lunch, for example. A salad or soup with your lunch. I think you'd feel better if you had more veg.

Nomdejeur · 26/03/2024 14:35

“Hardly any fruit and veg”

we have no idea what her evening meals look like! They could be packed full of veg.
Fruit doesn’t always equal an healthy diet unless it’s as a replacement for a chocolate bar. My diet is perfectly healthy without the extra sugar from fruit.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 26/03/2024 14:42

That's about 1300 calories then. I'm a similar height and activity level and would for sure lose weight on that. Maybe add a smoothie with yogurt or avocado, oats, fruit and some greens to add calories and some extra nutrition.

Schoolstress14 · 26/03/2024 14:43

Add spinach broccoli green beans avocado tomatoes etc to breakfast

Fixerupper77 · 26/03/2024 14:48

Im not convinced this thread is real.

No, 10K steps a day is not sedentary.

No, your diet is not healthy. If you are still losing weight then you arent eating enough. Its that simple, with the caveat you do not suspect an underlying illness.

Toomuch44 · 26/03/2024 14:52

If you're still losing, then you do need to increase your calorie intake. Something like a yogurt after lunch, tea or if you fancy a snacks, a few nuts, slightly larger evening meal. If you don't like fruit, you could add some tomatoes or mushrooms to the omelette, tomatoes or cucumber to sandwich, add a side salad - it might not be much but it'll help increase your 5 a day a bit.

Rickrolypoly · 26/03/2024 14:56

You are eating about 400-500 calorie less than you need if you are still losing a lb per week. You need to eat more.

Neverpostagain · 26/03/2024 15:02

OP is a perfectly standard weight for her height and we have no idea if she eats enough fruit and veg! It's perfectly fine if she continues to lose 1lb a week, but eventually (or now if she is happy with her weight) she will need to start eating a bit more. None of this is hard.

midgetastic · 26/03/2024 15:17

You are still losing
You don't want to
You have to eat more

Try adding a slice of toast to your breakfast and a banana as snack and see how you get on

Workawayxx · 26/03/2024 16:30

I'd say too little and that's backed up by you still losing. Maybe add toast or some banana and greek yoghurt to your breakfast. A couple of babybel are a nice snack or carrot/cucumber pepper and hummus. Also a handful of nuts are good for healthy fats.

Sounds ok to me. Could do with a banana or 2, and some nuts. Most people eat way too much.

CactusMactus · 26/03/2024 16:33

Seems about right. People eat way too much these days!

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 16:36

@CactusMactus @Absym she's losing weight when not wishing to, and not eating nutritious food. Hardly helpful comments are they

Laalaland · 26/03/2024 16:38

I think you need at least another 200 calories per day.

How about greek yogurt and all bran for a different breakfast, maybe with a few raspberries or strawberries?

How about nuts for an additional snack?

How about some spring onion and chopped cherry tomatoes in with your eggs for breakfast?

What about carrot and cucumber sticks dipped in cream cheese or hummus?

ButtCheeks · 26/03/2024 16:42

Cant wait for the “people eat way too much!” brigade to storm in!
Do you feel hungry OP? It doesn’t sound like enough food if you’re 5’7 and getting your steps in.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 16:51

@Laalaland Thankyou that's a good idea
My morning eggs are boring so some onion /tomato will jazz things up a bit

OP posts:
ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 16:52

@ButtCheeks yes I have felt hungry
Especially between 2-6 pm while waiting for tea
Little tired too (might not be related tho )

SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail · 26/03/2024 16:54

Assuming you're having a decent amount of vegetables with your evening meal and you're not feeling hungry all the time, I think it's fine. If you're still losing weight and you want to maintain, I'd add a banana every day.

I genuinely believe people generally eat too much. And if you're commenting on this thread as someone who is overweight or struggles with their weight, you're probably not the best judge of how much a person should be eating. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings - it's not my intention.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 16:56

@SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail yeah can get a little hungry in the afternoon but evening my tea fills me up
Normally a lot of veg on a night
Before Covid I was a size 8-10 and crept up to a 12 and just didn't feel comfortable
At my lowest I was 8 stone but that was a bit too light for me so 9 stone is just about right really

As someone who's lost 4 stone and continuing to lose, I bet I know more about it than you do!

CombatBarbie · 26/03/2024 16:58

I'm 5"7 and had crept up to 10.5 stone. I am now 9.7st and everyone is saying I'm too thin.... Admittedly my legs appear to have taken most of the loss. I agree ref the lack of fruit n veg though, I'll happily snack on fruit though, especially in evenings instead of reaching for chocolate.

Not sure what your frame is but as I'm same height I'd say you are verging into underweight category. I'd be upping my calories slightly to maintain your current weight. Can you add cheese to the omelette? Spring onion and ham maybe. The filler, do home made adding more veg based and put in blender if needed. I love adding grated beetroot to chicken mayo or cheese+mayo fillers.
