Am I eating too little ?

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 12:50

Around 8 months ago I started cutting my calories to loose weight
Crept up to nearly 12 stone
I'm 5ft 7 so it's not always obvious on me but I felt it
Anyway now I'm 9 stone 4 and still loosing
Tbh I'm happy with my weight now
I don't really want to loose more but I'm not sure if my diet is too little to maintain and il loose more.
Breakfast -2 egg omelette
Lunch -2 slices of bread (120 cals ) with a egg mayo or cheese savoury filler (170 cals )
Dinner -something around 600-700 cals
Snacks -1 biscuit (100 cals )

My only exercise is 10,000 steps a day
Before I put the weight on I was slim and always struggled to gain then I got a partner and put it on with lockdown (no steps ) etc

What do you think ?

@SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail yeah can get a little hungry in the afternoon but evening my tea fills me up
Normally a lot of veg on a night
Before Covid I was a size 8-10 and crept up to a 12 and just didn't feel comfortable
At my lowest I was 8 stone but that was a bit too light for me so 9 stone is just about right really

I reckon a banana in the afternoon would see you through ok then. Assuming you like bananas!

supercalafragilisticexpealidocious · 26/03/2024 17:00

Seems hardly anything to me. I would definitely eat a lot more than that. How about adding a homemade smoothie into breakfast plus some whole meal toast. Maybe a couple of healthy snacks too like a yoghurt and some nuts.

Mummame2222 · 26/03/2024 17:02

Maybe? You’re not very active. Do you weigh & measure your food? Everything you eat?

As someone who's lost 4 stone and continuing to lose, I bet I know more about it than you do!

When there are people on the thread who think a BMI of 20 is getting close to being underweight, I really do wonder.

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 17:06

@SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail BMI isn't an accurate measure of health, or anything really. You'd know this if you actually knew what you were talking about, rather than your almond mum things you see on here.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/03/2024 17:06

Are you eating when you're hungry?

Listen to your body, add in a few snacks...

ZaraEarrings · 26/03/2024 17:09

You can definitely add in a few snacks.

I wish I had this problem Grin

Unless OP has failed to mention that she's a bodybuilder, I'm pretty sure it's accurate enough for this purpose.

HelenHywater · 26/03/2024 17:16

You're eating too few calories to maintain the weight you're at, which is why you're still losing weight. I agree with working out what your maintenance weight calorie total would be.

You could add a slice of toast at breakfast for example and a yoghurt or banana at lunch. Dinner looks about right to me.

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 17:17

@SayFuckTheLemonsAndBail but it isn't accurate and never has been. It has so many factors that aren't included e.g. race.

Tedaaaaaaaaah · 26/03/2024 17:20

I’m 5’7 and I eat almost the same OP, but in addition I eat a pot of seeds, nuts and dried fruits every day (65g), and at least 2 or 3 pieces of fruit. I’m 9st 12 but have muscles and I’m quite lean.

ThePoshUns · 26/03/2024 17:21

I eat about the same and can't shift an ounce.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 17:23

@CombatBarbie legs and arms is where it's all gone
My arms have always been skinny so that's where things show

I lost too much weight and have spent 9 months trying to gain while still eating no sugar and low carb which I need to for my blood sugar. I've managed 7lbs so far. I weigh 9'4 and I'm 5'10.

You definitely need to up your calories. Some Greek yoghurt and fruit, peanut/nut butter and apple slices. Try to add calories with healthy choices if you can.

Not recommended for all, but add butter to virtually everything I eat as I need the fats for energy since I can't really have too many carbs. You could try soups for lunch, especially ones with protein and veg, lentil and carrot/ham for example.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 17:27

@Mummame2222 no I don't weigh or measure my food -couldn't be bothered with that

What's not healthy a biscuit ?

It’s not so much what you are eating that’s an bit unhealthy, it’s what you arnt.
not enough veg / nutrients. Try some avacado or walnuts / almonds / a few dried apricots or similar
more leafy greens. More protien for lunch and no bread unless occasional.

To be honest though- I am around 11st and the same height as you and I wish weight would come off eating what you eat! Too many calories for me to lose anything there

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 17:34

You need to do this to ascertain exactly how many calories you eat. Even if it's just for a week or two. You might be losing weight while eating 1800 calories which would then be indicative of a medical issue

populgum · 26/03/2024 17:37

Could you swap the biscuits for some vegetables?

Love a side of broccoli with my cup of tea.

Are you trying to convince me or yourself?

Because it's pointless trying to convince me that an ordinary weight and height is too thin. But if you need to believe that to make yourself feel better, then you're going to do that regardless of what anyone says.

ToddlerMumma · 26/03/2024 17:51

Your calorie need to maintain is roughly 1,500/day if your lifestyle is sedentary (desk job, little exercise) more if you're active so you're a bit low
Could you add tomatoes, cheese or ham to your omelette? A price of fruit with your lunchtime sandwich?
Well done for getting to your goal weight!

You are not eating too little. I think that’s what you asked. 🙄

43ontherocksporfavor · 26/03/2024 17:56

10,000 steps is NOT sedentary.

You know what's right for you.

I'm 5'4" and about 9 stone 3 pounds and I know it's too heavy for me.

Large bust and hips but just want to get back to a 24 inch waist (currently 25.5)

Notsuretoputit · 26/03/2024 18:08

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 14:27

@Notsuretoputit I doubt she's getting 5 portions at dinner.

Why on earth not? For dinner yesterday I had salmon roasted with garlic, cherry tomatoes and red onion along with sweet potato, broccoli, and sprouts.

Tonight I’m having chicken stuffed with cream cheese, rocket, watercress, spinach and garlic along with sweet potato, mushrooms, tomatoes, red pepper, edamame beans, and red onion mixed and roasted.

Of course she can be having five portions in her evening meal.

But she’s probably having a couple with the omelette anyway.
