Funny (or unfortunate) place names in the UK

I live near a place called Pity Me.
I've visited Twatt in Orkney.
Some people from our running club took part in a recent race near Shittlehope.

What is the funniest place name you have come across?

Scrabster, right up on the north coast, always sounds like some kind of unfortunate medical condition!

Yorkshire can also boost a place called 'Booze' and one called 'Fryup'. The less than lyrical regional names like Wetwang are from our Viking heritage.

We aren't far from Abergwili (a big willy when you say it) and go through Halfway and Three Cocks when we go to visit family

There's a place called Dangerous Corner in Wigan. It's on a straight road

So do we, its amazing how often that road sign is stolen though. I can imagine hundreds of homes in Hertfordshire with that road sign on display in the bedroom 🤣

Jeopardy, not sure where it is but there always seems to be loads of jobs there, only last week on the news they said '100's of job in Jeopardy'.

Not a place name and not even a road, but there's a holiday cottage in Boscastle owned by the National Trust called The Clinker.

I don't know what the history of the name is, but imagine calling your house effectively 'The Poo' - and then inviting people to rent it out for holidays!

It must be a source of endless mirth for the children who attend Sexey's School. Don't the staff just feel terribly embarrassed every time they have to say it, though?

There's a university in Lincoln called Bishop Grosseteste, which always makes me snigger: your uni is actually called Bishop Big Balls

I'm always amused that Mary Webb School in Pontesbury, Shropshire, is on Bogey Lane. Although I guess the hilarity of it wears off for the pupils fairly quickly.
