Just for the fun of it.

I live near a place called Pity Me.
I've visited Twatt in Orkney.
Some people from our running club took part in a recent race near Shittlehope.

What is the funniest place name you have come across?

Op I opened this thread to type pity me! You must also be familiar with no place, quaking houses and crook!

Yes, I think we must live near each other. I guess your user name is inspired by wear you live too.

The other place I've just thought of having driven past it is Wallish Walls.

Fingringhoe gets me everytime we drive through it! Also Turkey Cock Lane! I'm such a child! And for some reason I always get giggles when seeing the sign for The Alconburys and The Stukeleys (sp) just off the A1. Think it reminds me of Bridget Jones!

Creasen Butt Close. Apparently named after a local councillor. Poor sod.

You might be interested to know that Dull, in Scotland, is twinned with Boring, Oregon, USA and Bland, in Australia.

There’s a place called Scratchy Bottom on the Dorset coast. Not so much a village, more the dip in a very steep footpath.

I live near Cockett, the pub is called the Cockett Inn. Thankfully there isn't a school called Cockett Upper.

HoneyWogan · 09/03/2024 20:33

This road is in the same village on the edge of Birmingham as Mearse Lane - which I always read in the style of Ricky Tomlinson!

This street in St Andrews. I cropped my grandchildren out of the photo. They’re standing under the sign holding their noses.

Many saints are venerated for their virtue, their kindness, their piety or their extreme devotion to good causes.

But not all of them...
