Professions you would never date after working with them

I’ll start - surgeons.

One of them told me his wife was a GP -“because only one of us (him) could have a proper career”

Also - the overriding narrative that every female who complained about their outcome or consultation had “mental health issues”. They just couldn’t conceive that anyone would complain about them.

Police or military, high DV rate and misogyny is rife.

Warehouse
Factory
In fact any groups of semi/unskilled men. Full of misogyny and gossiping hypocrites. The double standards are astounding.

Have you ever worked in a factory where the majority were women?
Trust me the men are angels compared to the women!!

Cattenberg · 09/03/2024 22:58

As a vegetarian, I wouldn’t want to date an abattoir worker either. But this isn’t because I’ve worked with them.

When I had a job in horticulture many years ago, two of my colleagues also did seasonal work as slaughter people (killing turkeys for Christmas). They were very pleasant and generous colleagues.

Still, for me the job would be a no-no.

Ive known several chefs and all had alcohol issues and unstable work situations that never seemed to improve.
Yep, plus drugs and gambling, don’t forget those!

Indeed, mumsnet exists and runs on stereotypes.

@Temuaddiction Aren't you taking this too seriously? The OP isn't being judgemental and isn't saying all members of a particular workforce are the same. It's just a bit of fun.

Indeed, mumsnet exists and runs on stereotypes.

So do our brains!

Imagine how hard life would be if our brains didn't stereotype!

Magnificen · 09/03/2024 23:41

A female teacher

Police Officer.

This 100%.

They are never really off duty, even on days off or holidays.

They also come across as arrogant, duplicitous and untrustworthy.
Plus, quite often, their private lives are always a mess.

Anyone who old enough but still in minimum wage.

fireman ( no matter how sexy they are, its a dangerous job)

pilot (been cheated with stewardess)

police

spy

Teachers

I'd rather work a minimum wage job than have my head up my arse doing whatever you do.

One day you might need one of those minimum wage workers to serve you in a shop, pick your online order or pull your head out of arse so they can wipe it for you!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/03/2024 23:52

Baker - I just don't knead that kind of aggro and they never have any dough to buy me nice things .

I know a couple who had codeine addictions too!

Ilovemycatalot · 09/03/2024 23:59

Anyone who works in an abattoir you would have to be a psychopath to do this job.
Any job that involves cruelty to animals- I would want to kill them myself.

My husband's late wife was a police officer. She said male police officers were vile but female officers would never dare complain about their behaviour because if you were being attacked in the street no one would come to your aid.
Woman in my walking group was married to a police officer. He loved organising bbqs at their home. He would invite lots of female colleagues. She thought he was fabulous until another male officer told her that her husband was shagging/ had shagged every one of them.

Reminds me of Douglas from the it crowd, when he said i had every one of them in that team
