I saw a whole family dressed like this house in the library today, really odd.

Lourdes12 · 03/03/2024 12:16

Horror and depression

ShapelyCoarseStanding · 03/03/2024 12:16

Nobody lives like that, all those books spread out on a shelf like they are for sale, hundreds of things to dust a clean. Logs in the house? Where is the log burner?

It looks the the sort of house an Instagram 'homesteader' type mum would live in to me. All the kids would be dressed in shades of neutral pinafores with knee high socks and brown cardigans, with unbrushed hair, often spotted holding posies of flowers picked from the garden.

I call this look 'orphan chic'.

DappledThings · 03/03/2024 12:21

It's horrible. Opposite of restful or calming. Lack of colour makes me tense. It's so unnatural.

handskneesandbumpsadaisy · 03/03/2024 12:23

That's a lot of money to rent in the middle of nowhere.

Lauren0000 · 03/03/2024 12:25

It reminds me of those comedy sketches "sad, beige clothes for sad, beige children" buying very expensive clothes to look very poor Grin

I don't mind the colour scheme, I quite like neutrals, but hate the texture of the walls, looks like drying plaster, and the wood under the stairs is a weird look too.

I have log burners. We stack some logs inside the house

SPIDER TASTIC

i look at any of those wonderfully curated log piles and I KNOW they’re crawling with the little buggers…

Imagine them living in that house, they would merge with the walls and furniture and lose each other

Lauren0000 · 03/03/2024 12:34

The video is really weird 🤣

Xyz1234567 · 03/03/2024 12:35

I've not rtht but surely the whole point is to make it look as inoffensive and bland as possible because it's in the market to rent, this appealing to a wide market?
It's hardly a horror show - just a lovely house with too much beige.

Yes! Sad beige house for sad beige people

Daffsinfeb · 03/03/2024 12:37

Bet the kids aren't allowed nice colourful toys.
Reminds me of the Handmaid's Tale.

MeMyselfAndMyEye · 03/03/2024 12:37

Looking at my house, which is small and a total hodge potch of furniture, child and dog stuff, I kind of love the beige house.

Gerwurtztraminer · 03/03/2024 12:37

It looks like the beginning of a creepy Scandi Noir tv series, when the whole family have mysteriously disappeared leaving the house abandoned. The sole police officer investigating walks slowly through the gloomy house on a winters day, floorboards creaking. Cue haunting music & arty shots of ghostly children in pinafores running through foggy woods , laughter hanging in the chilled air.

Lauren0000 · 03/03/2024 12:39

Run by these people.
Obviously very representative of normal families....

Lot better than that tacky live love laugh house the other week.

The log pile is spider heaven. I'd love to stick a giant box of Daz on the kitchen side.

That was my first thought! The spiders, not the Daz.

But I absolutely LOVE that house.
Not the decor. It looks like a lot of sepia toned photographs.

But it would be so easy to add colour to such a well prepared palette.

Lauren0000 · 03/03/2024 12:42

I don't think you can live laugh love in this house.
I think you can get excited about yeast, and play with pine cones, and be unvaccinated.

Suspish · 03/03/2024 12:43

Wouldn’t be loving the massive bug hotel they’ve created under the stairs.

Choke, wheeze, expire

A lot of money to make a house appear permanently dirty

Allschoolsareartschools · 03/03/2024 12:49

My neutral obessed MIL would love that. She's often got a fully beige load of washing out on the line!😄

EcstaticMarmalade · 03/03/2024 12:49

Sad beige children have to live somewhere when they grow up. Or whilst they grow up.

Maireas · 03/03/2024 12:50

How depressing. It looks like it would smell of damp, and be a home for orphans forced to work in a cotton mill. Why ruin a lovely Edwardian house? I'm slightly concerned by all that wood under the stairs...

IncompleteSenten · 03/03/2024 12:51

I love it.
It'd be a complete ball ache to live in as a renter though. You'd be scared to move in case you messed it up!
