Oh, I think it's gorgeous.

ManchesterLu · 03/03/2024 12:52

It's on the rental market. Bland is ideal as everyone has different tastes so you're not ruling anyone out by having it done like this.

Zone2NorthLondon · 03/03/2024 12:53

I think it’s ok, as a rental they want neutral template
its a beautiful building

Looks very interiors magazine staged but I do like it.

It was featured in an interiors magazine last month actually.

It looks like it was decorated by Vermeer.

noblegiraffe · 03/03/2024 10:19

If you're paying £4500 a month, you'd want a bedroom that didn't look like it had just been vacated by a peasant.

😂

millymog11 · 03/03/2024 12:54

It looks cold.

And it looks like it wouldn't warm up if you put all of the heating/woodfires on as well.

LondonQueen · 03/03/2024 12:54

I do like it, someone has clearly gone to a lot of effort to make it look that way. However it doesn't look cozy enough for a family home.

Maireas · 03/03/2024 12:55

It's not just the miserable colour palette, I'm wondering why people would dress beds in what looks like filthy rags?.

oakleaffy · 03/03/2024 12:55

piealhxiprshl · 03/03/2024 10:17

I don't mind the colour scheme, I quite like neutrals, but hate the texture of the walls, looks like drying plaster, and the wood under the stairs is a weird look too.

Agree completely about the cordwood under the stairs...think of the spiders living happily there...and the fire risk!
It would be tinder dry by being indoors.

The textured walls are horrible, like cement, and the look is already a few years old. {greys...urgh! as if we don't have enough grey in our lives {at least in UK, under a leaden sky}

The sun is shining here for the first time in WEEKS, and it's so uplifting to see it for once!

merryhouse · 03/03/2024 12:56

They told you. It's a unified flow of tonal colour

FizzyStream · 03/03/2024 12:57

I don't like the wall effects they make the house look dirty! What's wrong with a normal paint job?!

lookwhatyoudidthere · 03/03/2024 12:57

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 10:18

I like the way they have painted the walls to look like they have damp.

You're unfamiliar with limewash paint? It's a very old formula that's received something of a revival. Personally I love the house!

takemeawayagain · 03/03/2024 12:57

I think it's gorgeous but wouldn't rent it in a million years - even if I could afford it! The whole beauty and serenity of the place would be ruined the minute I walked in the door and I'd be afraid to sit down.

Cesarina · 03/03/2024 12:57

Apologies if someone has already made this point..........I've only read Page 1 of this thread, and my first reaction was to be bemused at best, gobsmacked and appalled at worst, as to why a Mumsnetter feels it's ok to splash all details of someone's house over Mumsnet, with the sole intention of taking the piss out of it and inviting others to do the same? 🤷‍♀️
Nice.........🙄

SignoraVolpe · 03/03/2024 12:58

Kattenburg · 03/03/2024 12:20

I call this look 'orphan chic'.

😂 That’s made me chuckle.

TerrysCIockworkOrange · 03/03/2024 12:58

i love it 😬
although I’d definitely add some (a lot!) of colour via art and textiles tbh. But it’s the perfect blank canvas and clearly an exceptionally high standard of finish.

Twatneighbours · 03/03/2024 10:17

Even the shoes in the hallway match.

And the coats! I'd like that cloakroom space but I'd have to brighten it up.

Kidswhowouldhavethem · 03/03/2024 12:58

I would be hitting the bottle living there!!

oakleaffy · 03/03/2024 12:59

It looks absolutely freezing. Shades of Dickens's 'Bleak House'.

By contrast, Freddie Mercury's house was glowing with light and warmth..

When your house is just too too tasteful

MNetters have done this for years.
Are you new?

Aspergallus · 03/03/2024 13:00

Its a weird mixture of dirty clean for me. Can't decide whether I feel really calm or just really dusty...

Seriously worried about the seating in the cloakroom. I just know it wouldn't take my weight...

DinnaeFashYersel · 03/03/2024 13:00

Its lovely.

Purplebunnie · 03/03/2024 13:00

Not too far from me. Next time I'm out that way I'm going to have to do a drive past

You love it as a space to fill with bright colours and textiles!
That is completely different.

You see it as a literal blank canvas to fill with colour.

I'd love to fill to with colour, too! I love the spaciousness.

SloaneStreetVandal · 03/03/2024 13:01

Well it's preferable, at least, to the B&M/Home Bargains inspired crushed velvet grey, upon more crushed velvet grey, with a side of crushed velvet grey. And swirly faux chrome, of course.
