Yes it's excellent.

If you had googled it you would have seen the numerous reviews on basically every news website singing its praises!

There's also a thread on it on the telly addicts board.

Comfysock · 17/02/2024 14:53

Nope didnt want any spoliers! Watching now.

I thought it was absolutely tedious.. but I think I'm in the minority!

Yep, superb

HelloMiss · 17/02/2024 14:56

I thought it a bit tedious too..... and the actors cast didn't really feel a good fit for the characters

Didn't warm to them much

MrsSamR · 17/02/2024 14:56

I thought it was awful. Couldn't even finish the first episode. Emma was incredibly annoying and the casting was very poor.

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/02/2024 14:57

I liked it. It's not changing the world but it was good and I liked the characters. No spoilers... umm I liked that it presented something I know about a bit more realistically than most. Vague vaguery.

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 17/02/2024 14:57

Agree, slow like molasses, as they say….

HelloMiss · 17/02/2024 14:59

Yes slow and a bit unrealistic

And dull

AinsleyHayes · 17/02/2024 15:07

I enjoyed it but I have read the book. Good job
you specified no spoilers as I thought the plot was pretty widely known after the book and the film.

Marmite27 · 17/02/2024 15:09

I enjoyed it, I’ve never read the book or seen the film.

It felt a bit like a British version of firefly lane to me.

Barbarachicken · 17/02/2024 15:10

I binged it, it wasn't perfect but you know, it has Leo Woodall so...😆

TheSpruce · 17/02/2024 15:10

I really struggled to finish the book as I found the characters and the story really dull so unsurprising I didn't get past E3...

Comfysock · 17/02/2024 15:16

UPDATE....
25 mins in and bored stiff 😅 Im switching off!!!

OP posts:
LadyAroundTown · 17/02/2024 15:16

I thought it was quite dreary. The only thing that saves it is Leo.

Yozzer87 · 17/02/2024 15:52

I thought it was boring till about episode 3 then I really got into it.

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 17/02/2024 16:09

Couldn't get through first episode...just odd and dull

HelloMiss · 17/02/2024 16:19

Don't understand all the hype!

Freeasabird76 · 17/02/2024 20:11

I just binge watched it and loved it,stuck to the book really well, balled my eyes out again last 2 episodes.

benfoldsfivefan · 17/02/2024 20:13

It’s OK, but Ambika Mod is miscast as Emma. They’re such an unbelievable couple.

Doglegs · 17/02/2024 20:23

I didn't like it at all. Keep seeing interviews commenting that the actors have amazing chemistry. I must have watched a different show. They didn't even seem to like each other at all.

Boring. Acting mediocre.

Well done Netflix for getting it hyped.

Enjoyed the book from memory.

itsmyp4rty · 17/02/2024 20:33

I absolutely loved it - but it was my era, great music and I knew a few Dexter types in my time at uni. I loved that it was the nerdy and not so classically gorgeous girl getting the gorgeous boy rather than the same old sad nerdy bloke getting the gorgeous girl that is trotted out time and time again. Plus Leo would have been exactly my type back in the day.

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 17/02/2024 20:44

It was a slow burner for me.Ive seen 12 episodes and I'm hooked now. I'm just waiting for a spare hour to myself to watch the last 2 as they are emotional. I read the book years ago but it just washed over me. Nothing special, but I can't stop thinking about the TV. I'm already planning on watching it all again!

Namechangedforthis25 · 17/02/2024 23:55

@Comfysock no honestly keep going. First episode is weird because they need to set the scene and introduce the characters

even from episode 2 it’s amazing - and just gets better. I loved it so so much - and will watch the whole thing again.

best thing I’ve seen on Netflix in ages

Namechangedforthis25 · 17/02/2024 23:59

Just watch the club scene start of episode 5 if you don’t believe me

mesmerising tv!
