Leo has the 90s Damon albarn look perfectly and really worked well.
I'd have been after him for sure 30 years ago GrinBlush

He looks so much like Damon Albarn

I never fancied DA, but can kind of see it now

Just Googled Damon Albarn to remind myself what he looks like... he has not aged well Confused

What's with the fashion for awful facial hair?!

Has he not?! I saw a short vid of him yesterday next to Alex James. Don’t know if it’s just that standing next to Alex James makes anyone looks good (he’s a big smoker & drinker still by the looks of it) but I noted how unchanged he looked! Off to Google investigate….

Ohhh, well this shit is not doing him any favours

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. He can't possibly think that looks good or even just ok?!

I thought it a bit tedious too..... and the actors cast didn't really feel a good fit for the characters

Didn't warm to them much

I enjoyed it, but I totally agree that certainly the female lead wasn’t the best fit. I found her very cold.

He looks like Roland Rat 😁😁

I think Damon was prettier than Dexter and Damon is not a toff and never looked like one but dex looks like the classic upper class boy, well certainly back in those days. I actually thought that was pretty accurate.

I'm watching now - have read the book and seen the film. It's the wrong era, and Durham uni rather than Edinburgh, but I met DH at a uni ball and it really brought back the feeling of clicking with some random boy and staying up til 4am talking. Episode 1 made my chest hurt!

Fargo79 · 16/03/2024 22:10

The first few episodes were very dull and slow. I don't know why I stuck with it tbh. But I'm glad I did, because I was hooked after that. I loved every minute of the rest of the series. I thought the casting was great.

soggyfields · 16/03/2024 22:27

Rubbish. Self indulgent twaddle. Teen introspection dragged on into adult life, I gave it 3 episodes because all my friends were insisting it got better. It didn't. I was bored bored bored.

Totally!

I’ve just finished it. I did enjoy it. It was a bit long but I suspect that’s down to the actors cast. I don’t think there was much chemistry. I did still cry at the end though.

ungarden · 18/03/2024 20:16

Very sad - cried too hard over random strangers.

I thought it was absolutely tedious.. but I think I'm in the minority!

I agree I’m on episode 6 and going to give it up. I’ve tried my hardest to perservere with all the glowing reviews but I also find it slow, dull and tedious and just don’t buy the chemistry. I agree Emma is pretty annoying and I just don’t think it’s very good casting/ I don’t buy their ‘love story!’

I felt the same. I grew to love the two of them as separate entities but not so much together. However - still had a sob into my G&T.

JoanThursday · 29/03/2024 08:34

I enjoyed it - it's my era: the music brought it all back.

And Dexter reminded me of someone I knew at university. Same charm, same smile. He's no longer with us, so that made me feel extra weepy by the end.
