Wow really. I watched episode 1 and thought it was really boring!!!

I normally persevere but couldn't with this.

Looking for other things to watch now!

Crinkle77 · 18/02/2024 00:19

It was ok. Easy watching and only half an hour per episode. It did grow on me as it progressed but didn't live up the hype for me.

Moonpig82 · 18/02/2024 00:20

Thought it was so slow gave up. Terrible acting!

I really enjoyed it and binge watched it over a few days. A bit slow at first but definitely worth persevering.

Goldenbear · 18/02/2024 00:25

I thought it was slow, as did DH and a bit like a gen Z/late millennial had gone back in time. DH and I were children in early 90s but my brother was a year younger than they are supposed to be and I just can't imagine anyone going in holiday as a couple of friends at 21 plus at that time. It was unrealistic in that sense.

Bearonthestair · 18/02/2024 00:53

I switched it off after 30 mins. Boring shite.

LateAF · 18/02/2024 02:42

Just finished it. Best thing I’ve seen all year. The last two episodes are unbearably emotional. Honestly it’s a slow burner for the first 5 episodes and then it gets addictive.

Yozzer87 · 17/02/2024 15:52

I thought it was boring till about episode 3 then I really got into it.

This was me. Finished it tonight though and loved it!

WellWhaddayaKnow · 18/02/2024 03:01

Just been watching. Really good! Only meant to watch one episode and go to bed but ended up watching 3 or 4. Gonna be knackered tomo.

Yeah that did seem more like a noughties move. I didn’t mind the artistic licence tho.

Rainbows89 · 18/02/2024 03:38

I absolutely loved it.

LongDriveway · 18/02/2024 04:27

The first episode was slow but it had to be really. I don’t know why people moan about the casting, I thought they were both great. And yes, I’ve read the book...twice.

GreekGod · 18/02/2024 05:57

Terrible casting, no chemistry at all. Stopped watching after the first 2 episodes

CestlaADHD · 18/02/2024 06:32

I loved it, fell in love with the characters, not boring at all! I felt the chemistry between the actors, it will sit with me for a while and I’ll watch it again.

Inyourwildestdreams · 18/02/2024 06:39

@Comfysock It’s definitely a slow burner. I’d give it a few episodes before you give up on it 😊 Highly recommend the book too!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more accurate representation of “my type” when I was at Uni than Dexter 😅😂 I’d have been all over him!
Funnily enough, the polar opposite of my now DH 😅

It’s OK, but Ambika Mod is miscast as Emma. They’re such an unbelievable couple.

I thought the same, about them being an unbelievable couple. I actually thought her acting was dreadful, so wooden. But then again I have not seen her in anything else so possible she was just miscast in the role.

stilldumdedumming · 18/02/2024 08:50

I like Ambika Mod. But in this she is so bloody miserable that I cant understand why they're even friends. Let alone in love. I don't think it's her acting at all - maybe the direction? I liked the book - good holiday type read. The film was pretty good. This is OK but a bit unbelievable.

Namechangedforthis25 · 18/02/2024 11:06

give it 3 or 4 episodes - you will be hooked

of course the first couple of episodes will be slow - we are meeting new characters we don’t yet care about and we need to see them get to know each other

but after that each year is also about what happens to them individually in their lives rather than just them together and so it’s very interesting

decionsdecisions62 · 18/02/2024 11:07

Nah load of shit. Go to Apple TV if you want to watch good quality dramas.

I've not seen her in anything else so can't judge but yes, that really stood out, the character is so miserable and pessimistic for a graduate.

I love Apple TV stuff - a listers and very high end

but I’ve never wanted to watch anything on Apple TV again - it’s never hit me emotionally like one day

honestly I thought one day has really high production value compared to most of Netflix and it was super emotional

I thought the same

But I watched the whole thing

Really hoped he met someone else and moved on. Wanted to see that. Maybe he did and I missed it, was boring

Olive2424 · 18/02/2024 19:37

This was the most beautiful, intelligent and honest movie I have seen in a long time. Very moving, made me really emotional at times, and often made me laugh as well. Exceptional cast, so romantic, deep and thoughtful, the best thing ever, just be prepared and have a box of tissues ready! Loved it so much, feels like a classic. Highly recommend it!!

I think this discussion is about the tv series as opposed to the film- both of which are highlighted on streaming services at the moment.

YorkBound · 18/02/2024 19:49

I liked it. I found the first episode clunky and awkward but after that the characters became more relatable.
