Thank you all for the welcomes! I thought I'd posted on here before but, on checking, I haven't Hmm

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/07/2024 03:34

Have now vacuumed washed floor in living room after Havoc broke a bowl. Glass everywhere. Spot cleaned area rug. Vacuumed fan vent at bottom of fridge. Have put dinner on. Busy day.

Frostandfrogs · 01/07/2024 07:11

Gosh I was a contact lens wearer for years. So you can recycle them now?

I am loving reading the little snapshots of people's lives as always.

Where is our @Aria999 ? I hope all is well. And welcome to @DatingDinosaur 💐

@SummerLobelia your DCs' week sounds wild!! That's a lot of stuff crammed into one week. We used to skive sports days. Nobody liked it and I have vivid memories of all the things i was forced into at my boarding school. I like your diagnosis of ADPD @peridot1 I think I have it too. A lot of it about!
(Not dismissive of ND at all btw as we have some actively diagnised in our family, and with such an impact on their lives)

I am not surprised you are knackered @SingleThreadJoiner that is a lot of work. Well done for yesterday!

Your Jazz fest looks good @Mumtobabyhavoc Did you make it out in the end after your very busy morning?

Tagging people has got awkward. Names ised to pop up as soon as I put in the first letter or two and now I have to scroll down. Bah humbug!!

Project freezer is continuing apace. Even my mother got a meal from leftovers yesterday - not that she knows this. Though back in the day she was queen of the 'economy drive' using up scraps. I learned from a champion! It's a useful skill.

There's been a grubby cutlery drawer looking at me for weeks so that is today's task. Much like tax returns, it'll probably just take minutes when I do get onto it.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to 💐

SummerLobelia · 01/07/2024 07:17

Morning all!

You have done loads @Mumtobabyhavoc ! I was thinking the other day that littlest havoc must be coming up to 6 months. Thanks

That is a LONG school fete day @SingleThreadJoiner . I hope you had a large glass of wine afterwards!

The summer holidays are really long. It's so hard for working parents to juggle. DH is pretty much retired now thank heavens so we manage but its always a bit of a stress. But we are away next week (Greece!!) and then I am bookending the end of the holidays with a trip to a UK holiday camp for 3 days so looking forward to that.

Today I need to make a cake as I rashly promised DS1 I would do so. I have to write a reference for a former colleague. I have already booked the Dcs into supper club pre-prize giving night. I have to buy teacher presents which I have forgotten until I remembered at 3 am this morning (which is also when I remembered I had to book them into supper club).

Breathe deeply.

Good days everyone. Thanks

Frostandfrogs · 01/07/2024 08:24

@SummerLobelia I am doing some deep breathing on your behalf!
Remaining calm and peaceful and steadfast is an ongoing....um.....challenge for me.
I feel you 💐

Peridot1 · 01/07/2024 08:49

Morning all.

I didn’t quite get everything done yesterday. Didn’t go to garden centre but will do that today.

We did clear out under DS’s bed. He’s been sharing his bed space with lots and lots of dead moths! (Some of you may remember my Operation Moth from a few months ago.) We have still had moths and the sticky traps are definitely helping. And I knew there were more in DS’s room than other rooms.

Today I need to persuade him to spend 20 minutes going through the stuff from under the bed to decide what to keep. He’s far too busy apparently so is moaning. And 20 minutes tomorrow on clothes. He goes back to Dublin on Wednesday for the last few weeks of his Masters.

Today’s list:

  1. dishwasher/kitchen/vacuum
  2. DS’s washing so he can pack
  3. garden centre
  4. put outdoor cushions back outside
  5. book hotel
  6. book theatre tickets
  7. towel wash

Have a great day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 01/07/2024 10:43

@DatingDinosaur you may do what I do, start a post in the morning, get distracted, update post at lunch time, get distracted, come back in the evening and jobs still not done and day over....
Hugs to petal

Today

  1. new debit card has arrived; used and abused already - DONE
  2. I am down 2 team members - one left, another sick so am having to pick up some of their stuff, leaving me with no preperation time whatsoever. No meetings this afternoon, so have earmarked that as catching up time.
  3. Work out when we can take another trip to Cornwall - with everyone's school holidays & trips abroad it is tricky, but we promised GNeice we would take her down, so down we will go.
  4. More washing to do
  5. there are balls of dog fluff and grass seeds everywhere as I have been de-matting the dog (lovely) - must get the hoover out Smile
  6. Also, need to get the needle and cotton out - someone pointed out a little gap on the sofa cushions

Thanks @Frostandfrogs !

Hi everyone!

I have delegated two things I hate to DH and am now sitting down with 'nothing' to do for an hour. Then I need to shower and dress and go to prize giving via Tesco for teacher gifts. (Wine, its always wine). Back home around 8 pm.

I made a banana and chocolate chip cake. Mmmm.

I've done the colleague reference.

I'm ignoring the ironing as it was not on my agenda today even though I now have 'time'.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

SingleThreadJoiner · 01/07/2024 17:58

@SummerLobelia I feel tired just thinking about your week! Today I did a load of laundry, entertained my PILs a bit while my husband was at work, and have just finished preparing three trays of chicken and potatoes for dinner. Phew! Oh and I put in an expense claim for the work trip the other week, so that's also a good deed.still need to get through dinner, bedtime, and tidying the house for the cleaners tomorrow...

petalpower · 01/07/2024 20:11

Didn’t quite manage to get all the washing dry before it started to rain but hopefully it will finish on the airer overnight. Still making progress with my quest to get rid of 2024 items this year - continued to sort out old teaching resources and threw lots out!

Aria999 · 01/07/2024 20:22

Hi @Frostandfrogs and everyone

Not sure where the last couple of weeks have gone. I made a mostly unsuccessful push to find work.

We have finally finished and filed 6 years of backdated FBARs and 3 years of a missing form about foreign assets for our tax return this morning which is an enormous relief.

Living in the USA comes with a lot of paperwork and scary consequences if you don't do it!

RunningKatie · 01/07/2024 20:31

Quickly bobbing in, apols I've not properly read back, am sprawled under a blanket with ddog and a mug of tea. I've twisted my knee going to M&S to pick up a dress! Then I had to do the supermarket shop as dh is about to go off on a work jaunt and I need to be able to feed the dc in his absence.
All sorted so I'm flopped now.
Book club should be tomorrow eve, new woman is attempting to change the week etc., I sense a small mutiny is building 🙂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/07/2024 02:53

Katie, sorry to hear about your knee. 😔 I hope it's not too bad.
Aria, good you got paperwork done! 👍
Petal, I continue to be in awe of your dedication to your 2024 clear.

No tasks today!!!!! Took dc downtown for some Canada Day activities. Both are still napping. 😂

Peridot1 · 02/07/2024 11:35

Happy Canada Day for yesterday @Mumtobabyhavoc! 🇨🇦

Hope the knee is ok @RunningKatie. And the new book club woman sounds very annoying!

Hi @Aria999!

Happy clearing @petalpower!

Hope prize giving etc went ok @SpringLobelia.

@SpiritOfEdna - you have just reminded me I really should brush the dog.

waves at everyone else.

I actually managed all the tasks on my list yesterday bar one. First time in for ever!

And managed to get DS to sort some stuff out and I bagged up three bags of clothes and shoes and have already taken them for recycling this morning. Winner winner chicken dinner! 😄

Work on the house is starting tomorrow. So this afternoon I will pack up the last of the stuff in a built in unit that is being removed. And move a small table and bits from in front of a door that is being blocked up.

And tomorrow I am going up to the north west for a couple of nights to see MIL who is in a home and I have been meaning to go and see her for ages. Not sure how it will be really as she is quite confused at times apparently and also incredibly stubborn. Her nephew has moved into her house and is apparently “sorting” stuff out. Not sure how aware she is of that. It’s complicated as she is DH’s step mother and he doesn’t feel he can (or wants to) get involved.

SpiritOfEdna · 02/07/2024 15:05

peridot it's not very warm here at the minute so do wrap up. runningkate - I flirt with the idea of a book club when I see them in action I get a pang of envy - but I like to read what I like 😄
Mercifully, not such a busy day at work today, so

  1. recycle the coffee pods - DONE
  2. my week to walk SpiritDoggo - DONE
  3. look at booking some activities for GNeice when we go away - currently looking at paddleboarding; but a bit tricky to do loads of stuff when we have SpiritDoggo with us
  4. back on my diet if I am going to fit into my wetsuit -started for the billionty-eth time
Another post started at 9am and finished at 15:00 😃

Cheers, SoE

SpiritOfEdna · 02/07/2024 15:12

how long is the edit post window?!!!!!!! Not very long - am wishing I could edit my post I've mixed up time formats. <grr>

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/07/2024 19:30

Thanks Peridot. It was a nice 22c, or so, with a bit of breeze, so a good day to be out. 👍
SoE, SUP can be done with doggo, but I'd make sure a doggie life vest was worn. I see people and their dogs on SUPs here. 👍

Cloudy and cool here. Again, good because will be running errands today. Need to grocery shop and drop off linens to recycling, but would rather put off til tomorrow. Only a couple regular chores to do here, but might put off as well. Breaks are good and things are tidy, still.

SpiritOfEdna · 03/07/2024 10:09

thanks mumtobabyhavoc we will be doing some paddleboarding, will see if we can get the doggo some tuition too - she loves the water.
Not so busy today so will be able to get some stuff down in 10 minute blitzes

  1. get drill out of the shed, so I can get the fixings up for sorting out the trailing plants
  2. order a spare tyre for one of the bikes & pump up the tyre on the other
  3. get the doggo out for a walk early
  4. tidy ALL the sodding shoes away
  5. tidy all the doggo's brushes away
  6. look for - and book - accommodation

That will do for today, cheers, SoE

RunningKatie · 03/07/2024 11:43

Envious of the SUP planning, I've been wanting to go for years but fear of squeezing myself into a wetsuit stops me. I've now lost a bit of weight so it might happen this year.
Wfh today, dh is away, so I'm on a mission to keep everyone alive, fed and clean till he returns. So far so good, he's only been gone 4.5 hours but clearly I'm winning thus far!
Haircuts this eve, I need to sweep through downstairs and I'd like to stick the washing on but as it's raining it won't go outside.
I also need to try on my new dress that I picked up on Monday.

Frostandfrogs · 03/07/2024 11:51

Hi everyone! Quick drive by fruiting here.

I have achieved a weeded border
And washing is up to date.
What is this thing some of you refer to -ironing? 🤔

I have unsubscribed from many emails and feeling the weight off.
A bit of family drama around these parts so it's all about peace and routine and keeping my cup full so I can assist. I'm sure we all know the drill. Life is a complex thing.

Best wishes to you all 💐

petalpower · 03/07/2024 13:18

Quite cool and cloudy here today - thankfully the rain has stopped though. Yesterday I got my hanging basket and pots finally planted up with the summer bedding I bought a couple of weeks ago and also pressed a rose from auntie’s funeral flowers for DD as she wasn’t able to be at the funeral (back in a couple of weeks though!).
Completed tasks today:

  1. sorted out some clothes for a charity shop run tomorrow including some from auntie ☹️ ✔️
  2. posted two eBay sales ✔️
  3. tax return admin for auntie ✔️
  4. chopped down annoying nettles ✔️
  5. glass and textile recycling ✔️
  6. ID copied for most family members ✔️
Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/07/2024 14:31

Petal, what a lovely thing to do re pressing flower for your daughter. 💕

Another errand today. Put of proper grocery shop by picking up a few necessities yesterday. 🫣

petalpower · 03/07/2024 22:42

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc . The flowers were so beautiful.
Hope everything family wise sorts itself out @Frostandfrogs . Family stuff can be hard sometimes.
Are you looking forward to having DS back from Dublin @Peridot1 ? Does he have plans following his masters? We have DS moving back at the weekend as he will be between flats. DH has gone for a couple of days to help him move back so it’s just me and Petaldog here until the weekend. DS will spend part of the week here working remotely and part of the week staying local to his workplace. I am not so secretly looking forward to having him home for a while and DD back from her gap year travelling - I love having them here and us all being together as a family.

petalpower · 04/07/2024 21:32

What have you all been doing today? I’ve had another exciting trip to the charity shop to drop off, a phone call with a practice nurse to review my meds and have cleaned out the cupboard under the sink. It’s been all go chez Petal!
