hello!
FlowersHappy birthday Flowers @SingleThreadJoiner Hope there is cake 😃Car hired (thank you @Aria999 ) and am just about to put out some pots of beer to discourage the slugs from attacking the hostas 😃once my next meeting is over.

Plan for today

  • do some admin for the work course I finished this week - there was a lot of fluff and padding out but I would not mind doing the exam.
  • muddy Doggo jumped on my bed so need to strip bed and do some washing
  • I've managed to scrub the bathroom; need to find some time to do the floor (the whole house is a tip, but starting with the smallest room has spurred me on!)
Nearly time for doggo's afternoon walk, have a good one, SoE
Aria999 · 30/05/2024 15:56

Awesome job on the skirting @Frostandfrogs

lol @SpringLobelia hope the incremental plant buying works out.

I am not a creator of garden beauty. We have one, and the guy who worked for the previous homeowners cuts the grass and does a seasonal maintenance...

Happy birthday @SingleThreadJoiner !

Glad you got the car sorted @SpiritOfEdna !

Yesterday I spent most of the day tidying and cleaning DS room including The Surfaces which according to my chart had not been done since September.... though they contained such a thick layer of random objects that not all that much dust could get through! He does mostly keep the floor tidy now but I think he does so partly just by putting stuff on the surfaces 🤦‍♀️

Also sorted out money and notes for babysitter.

Today I am dithering about what is most urgent. Lots of things on the list! Think I will tackle cleaning the 3rd level and the stairs (which are starting to show up the absence of robot minions in these areas).

SpringLobelia · 30/05/2024 16:07

Action shot!

New cheapy Aldi pot plant thingy planted on balcony next to a more established tree fern.

Daily project Round 5
Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/05/2024 18:09

Happy birthday, Single!!! 🥳
I hope you've been having a good day! ☺️

SoE, hope the slugs enjoy their beer and aren't snobby about it. 😂
Aria, I'm very amused picturing an army of robo vacs. 😁
Spring, I like your idea to purchase a plant each trip out.

Baby had a bit of a diaper blow out this morning, so have got a load of laundry on. Needing inspiration to get nagging tasks done beyond the basics. 😔

Aria999 · 30/05/2024 18:20

Goodness I hate vacuuming stairs.

The collective staircases in our oversized house contain 60 steps, many of them spiral (thus requiring two different vacuum attachments.)

I read these threads where people manage vacuum their entire house and clean the bathrooms after work on a Friday and feel I am probably defective in some way!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/05/2024 18:51

2nd load of laundry in and I've cleaned my cell phone. 😅

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/05/2024 22:37

Have steam-mopped floors and area rugs (2) and gathered up recycling and garbage now! 😁

Tall poppy: steam-cleaned diaper bag, shower tiles, a bathroom wall, linen closet door and a bit of wall between bathroom and closet.
It's amazing what I can get do e when dc are asleep!!!

SpringLobelia · 31/05/2024 07:40

Happy birthday for yesterday @SingleThreadJoiner !! Hope you had a lovely day. 🍰

I also hate vacuuming stairs but need to do that today. Thankfully we don't have any carpet downstairs so that's easier. Also only 14 stairs not @Aria999 's 60!! I would love a big house - but not the stairs!!

Today- stairs
-one load of washing (I'm doing a load daily as it has built up a bit, I've done all the uniforms including blazers though)
-make sausage rolls for DCs (necessitating a trip to Aldi and another plant purchase!)
-pot said plant
-stay away from MNetting except for this lovely thread because I have alot to be getting on with!

I really need to tidy the patio as well. I keep putting it off.

Have a great day everyone!!

Frostandfrogs · 31/05/2024 08:11

Step away from the Mumsnet @SpringLobelia 😂 (Note to self also. I have sat on my backside scrolling here since 5.30am) Your garden sounds lovely and I like your new approach. Our gardener has broken the back of the work here and next up is helping with digging borders and planting ideas. I am so thrilled with it! It's literally been kept mown and otherwise untended for years.

Happy belated birthday @SingleThreadJoiner 🎂 🎈 🥂

Oof, stairs! Sixty is a lot @Aria999 I have the standard thirteen, which I usually just brush down with a rubber brush. DH likes messing about with hoover attachments so he vacuums them every now and again.

Love to read the accomplishments on here. @Mumtobabyhavoc you leave me breathless with your achievements, and I have no small people living here.

Slugs off to the pub then @SpiritOfEdna Are you taking doggo on hols? Glad you got car sorted!

I didn't quite achieve my bookcase move as there are still some furniture items in the room that I want to put it in that don't belong to me. Hoping to clear the space over the weekend. There are boxes of books in situ though, which are still easier to get at than they were previously (bookcase is crammed behind DH's workstation)

Thank you for the open learn link @SingleThreadJoiner 😊

Coffee with a friend this afternoon. I'm looking at cluttered coat pegs in our small hall, and pondering on sorting that out this morning. And later I shall take tea on the freshly weeded and pressure washed patio, on my newly cleaned outdoor furniture 🎉

Happy Friday everyone and safe travels @petalpower 💐

Peridot1 · 31/05/2024 09:23

Happy birthday for yesterday @SingleThreadJoiner.

Loving your approach to plant buying @SpringLobelia! Great idea. And easy to keep on top of the planting out.

I won’t tag everyone as I need to get on and do stuff but am impressed with all achievements.

I did a list yesterday so need to start tackling it.

Today-

  • a wash load
  • change my bed
  • wash my bedding
  • plant a hydrangea I bought the other day into a new pot I also bought
  • put a basket of washing away
  • order a new hand blender as DH broke ours
  • sort seat on flight to Boston in November
  • go to the gym
  • empty dishwasher and tidy kitchen

Have a great day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 31/05/2024 11:05

Morning - looks like we have all had productive mornings thus far. Instead of my morning drinking coffee and mooching around with the wordle and crossword before work I've blitzed all the floors and decluttered a load of surfaces and dusted a bit as someone is dropping stuff off at the house today and they may come in for a coffee.

@FrostyFogg doggo is coming on holiday - its a surprise visit to brother who has a big birthday. I'll be taking take my down market northern money to Cornwall 😄

For the rest of the day;

  • gym kit for pilates needs to be washed for tomorrow
  • doggo will need to be walked and de-matted - I've spotted a few on her tummy
  • blitz the coffee pods and get the aluminum into recycling & the caffeine dregs into the garden
  • I need to book a haircut - need to find someone to cut it maybe after pilates tomorrow.
That's all for now, have a good day all, SoE.
Frostandfrogs · 02/06/2024 13:30

Have a lovely time in Cornwall @SpiritOfEdna and hope you got your hair appointment! Impressed at your busy-ness!

Hope you made a good dent in that list @Peridot1 !

I'm feeling very weary after a family day and a half! But all loved up too! DH is looking forward to going back to work for a rest tomorrow he says. And apart from cooking tonight's dinner, I'm not up for too much this afternoon and hope to finish my book.

I have just bought a big diary because I am struggling with other people's stuff that I need to know about. Mum in particular gets me in a right old muddle about what she's doing and when, because she tells me things that are in her diary but frequently gets the day wrong 😔

Little job ..... um.....underwear drawer 💡
And there is a wash on so all feels like a win!

Hope you're all having a great weekend ☕

SpringLobelia · 02/06/2024 16:26

Hello!

You sound very busy and tired @Frostandfrogs

Have a great holida @SpiritOfEdna and waves to everyone!

I have successfully avoided MN for most of today until now.

I planted another plant on my balcony. I pruned the roses that DH has to bend down double in order to leave the house. I watered everything. I made sausages and mash for lunch. I won a prize on our local radio station by answering a question via facebook and have won a branded tote bag.

Now I am about to shove a chicken in the oven for dinner.

Hope everyone is well!

RunningKatie · 02/06/2024 21:02

I am not keeping up, apologies I've not even read all the posts, it's crazy busy here. Been working today, there was sunshine which was just lovely but I missed dh and the dc, who are all under the weather. Who wouldn't want a dose of covid for half term?!
Hoping that calm appears later this week, it's not all bad - am out seeing friends tomorrow eve, I just may not stay awake after 9pm. I'm sure they won't mind.
Will be back tomorrow! Hope all are well.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/06/2024 23:43

Sounds like a productive weekend Frosty and SoE. Good food to top it off is nice.
I'm monitoring/treating Havoc who started with a fever last night of 40c. No other symptoms, but will phone GP office in the morning. Wondering if it is an ear infection again as was just like this a month ago without any sign of discomfort. 🤔

Anyway, did a cleaning blitz past two hours or so: two loads laundry washed/hung up and a third one put away; vacuumed floors and couches; spot cleaned one couch and flipped and rotated cushions on both; cleaned bathroom including mirrors and floor; wiped railing on deck, around sliding glass door and door track, wiped kitchen/dining/hall/entrance floors and baseboards; wiped bedroom and bathroom door frames and doors; gave kitchen sink a good scrub and put utensil holder into dishwasher; wiped area of kitchen counter with two sets canisters in the corner, wiped canisters and rearranged; gathered up garbage and recycling and took it out then cleaned kitchen garbage bin before putting new bag in it; and made beds/changed baby's bed sheet. Now feeling pretty accomplished even though I'm still turning a blind eye to horror bedroom and storage closet. 🫣🤫

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/06/2024 23:50

Oh, no Katie! I'm sorry to hear that. My sympathies as I can relate: we had it bloody 3x last year. Wishing a speedy recovery to all. 🩷💐

Frostandfrogs · 03/06/2024 06:52

My goodness @SpringLobelia and @Mumtobabyhavoc what achievements!

I hope Havoc is ok today and that GP is helpful.

@RunningKatie you are having such a tough time of it 💐 Best wishes for future calm and I hope everybody feels better very soon.

I have had an epic start to my day as I woke at 5am, and so I have cleaned the dining room and swept the patio. I do not much like our dining room as DH has returned to it as his office, as the bedrooms are all being used once again, and it is filled with his clutter and furniture that he inherited, and extension leads for his computers. It is not a good look, but it is at least less dusty now (also hoovered) I have accepted being dining room-less for the forseeable future, and bought some nice trays and we officially eat in the lounge. Sadly our kitchen isn't big enough for a table.

Off to shower now, and hoping I can maintain this level of magnificence for the entire day 😎

Love to you all 💕

SingleThreadJoiner · 03/06/2024 10:58

Hello all, and thank you for the birthday wishes! 💕💕It was indeed a lovely birthday, with bonus birthday drinks last night with some other friends, so I am feeling very celebrated. But not very accomplished as it was all such a whirlwind with half term and birthday and all...though yestersday morning I did clean out and wash all the D's sand table, toys, and assorted bits that had been lying around unloved and rained on for a week, and threw out the wet almost-mouldy sand, that was a satisfying job. Also took advantage of the sun FINALLY to hang laundry outside instead of using the dryer!

Sorry to hear that the @RunningKatie household is covid-ed, and that @Mumtobabyhavoc has to deal with the fevers again.

I think today at most will be a general-pre-cleaner-tidying day, I feel like Mondays are always the day we need to reset ourselves after the chaos of the weekend!

SpiritOfEdna · 03/06/2024 11:46

Morning - on countdown to holiday: 7 working days to go and I am ready to go now 😄Weekend was massively busy with a long overdue clean of kitchen cupboards, skirting boards, clean front and back doors, getting rid of general clutter, (a spring clean in fact ), plus the usual out and about with SpiritDoggo, pilates, gym. No haircut but I will have to try and book one in somewhere this week. There is a salon at the top of the road, but I won't go there out of principle as when I am emerging from the top of the road in the car visibility is non existent due to cars parked outside it. You have to commit! My principles may disappear when I am desperate though.

Havoc - hope babyHavoc recovers well
glad you had a good birthday, STJ

Today:

  • clean interior doors
  • plants have all been watered - DONE
  • clean inside a couple of kitchen cupboards, they are looking quite crumb-y & grubby
  • need to pump up my bike tyres to encourage me to get out and about even though it is freezing
That's all for now, have a good day all, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/06/2024 00:44

Just popping on the say a little, hello. ☺️
I waded into horror bedroom today and spent a good hour sorting a large garbage bag of clothes given to baby by neighbour. Sizes ranged from 12mos to 4 yrs.
I refolded and packed into clear plastic bags by size, labeled bags with size and packed into (diaper) boxes I've saved. One other bag to sort then will go through the bins of clothes I've saved from Havoc and determine what to keep. Baby steps. 😁

Frostandfrogs · 04/06/2024 07:09

Good morning all! @Mumtobabyhavoc you are who I aspired to be when my children were small, with your organisational skills!

This thread is so inspirational!

I do enjoy your way with words @SingleThreadJoiner 'Rained on and unloved' made me smile 😊

👋 @SpiritOfEdna isn't it amazing how cupboards get so crumby? And you've reminded me - I need to get my bike out and dust it off etc. Haven't ridden it for a couple of years.

I am starting my day with a coffee, sitting on a bench in my garden. It's absolutely lovely! Busy day for me today, but it includes meeting a friend so nothing too arduous.

I can hear my neighbour singing in the shower! Our houses are soundproof from the inside more or less, but at this time of day it's quite surprising what can be heard from the garden! Mainly birds and a bit of traffic thankfully, but also kettles, running water and a bit of 'how do you like your eggs in the morning'. <<<< song titled changed for MN 'not to be outing purposes 😂 Oh and my washing machine.

DH is up and blowing his nose. Could probably hear that from the top of the garden!

I feel like a stalker 🤫

Have a lovely day everyone. I hope the poorly ones are feeling better and I hope @petalpower is having a relaxing holiday ♥

Off to take Edna's lead and clear up some crumbs while I cook my porridge 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/06/2024 07:53

Oh, Froggy, you haven't seen the horror bedroom or storage closet....
Sounds like you are having a stellar morning! 🤗

I've given Havoc more Tylenol to keep fever down and may not need to add Advil which is due in an hour. Sitting in the dark, save for tv, scrolling MN, searching Amazon for more patterns of vinyl window covering and watching a CBC doc on the Canada/USSR '72 hockey summit. It was a pretty big deal! Re the vinyl window covering, have had it in bedroom window for over a month and really like it. Gives privacy and some lovely coloured light prism when the sun shines through. Also trying to track down Pisti pistachio cream spread as Costco isn't carrying it right now, so kicking myself for not buying another jar of it or the almond version when they had it. It's quite pricey on Amazon, so I might go without until it's back at Costco. 🤔Have also done a bit of Pilates/yoga/weights. 😁

petalpower · 04/06/2024 09:11

We are having a good break thank you. @Frostandfrogs after an epic 8 hour journey across the country. Such a long way! We are doing a lot of walking with Petaldog on coastal paths, eating, drinking and relaxing. Just what was needed.

Peridot1 · 04/06/2024 09:44

Hello all. You all seem to be achieving lots! I on the other hand……….not so much!

List for today:

  • change my bed
  • wash bedding
  • email contractor who is hopefully very soon about to start on some work we are having done which will entail much upheaval
  • move some furniture around in the living room to see what we will do with that room. It’s a very awkward room. We are definitely blocking up a door and changing the fireplace from a huge red brick inglenook to something more sensible. The huge inglenook is original to the house. But. The house was built in 2018 not 1818 so it’s slightly over the top!
  • pack away some of the ornaments on a shelf unit that is being removed from said living room
  • usual dishwasher/kitchen/vacuuming

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 04/06/2024 20:49

Drum roll please, I have found 2 library books that went AWOL in 2017. I knew they were in the house somewhere, turns out they were behind the radiator in the living room. Can't believe I've not spotted them in the past 7 years. In my vague defence, there's normally a sofa in front of it but still! Whoops. That's going to be an interesting chat when we take them back.
Anyway, all still germy, and a bit tired and fed up. Could really just do with a few consistent dry warmer days to feel better, that and a lot of lovely sleep.
