I am LOLing at the posters on here saying their granny/great aunt/great cousin Flo had a baby at 47/48/49/50-odd NATURALLY back in the day. 😆

There were a huge amount of teen girls who got pregnant pre mid 1970s, and many who didn't have the baby taken away for adoption, had the mother (grandmother of the child) raise the baby, Many of them claimed they were the mother, after packing said pregnant daughter off to another relative's house while she had the baby. (And sometimes going with her, so no-one could see granny wasn't pregnant and teen daughter was!)

Many grannies and great aunts did NOT have a baby at 50-ish. Wink I am not saying it is physically impossible to conceive naturally around that age but it is VERY rare. In many cases, that baby was the middle aged woman's grandchild.

People need to stop peddling this tripe that it's perfectly normal to leave it to mid 40s before bothering to try for a baby, because 'my great auntie Fanny had perfectly healthy triplets at 51!!' It's really so unfair to do this.

As for Ant and his wife, I am pleased for them and hope they will be very happy. I am glad Ant is happy now. He never seemed happy to me when he was with his ex. When he was with her, his smile never reached his eyes.

I do normally side-eye a bit at pregnancies in people 45 and older, but it's seems different somehow when it's celebrities. Don't ask me why! Coz I don't know!

Can confirm, this happened in my own family. Real granny born in 1928, to my great grandmother who was 34. In 1944 real granny had my mum ... in the countryside, whilst staying with a great auntie. Real granny stayed in the countryside, apparently working there on aunts farm. Meanwhile baby sent back to my great grandmother and proudly announced as a "menopause baby" that she hadn't realised she was pregnant with at 51. Truth didn't come out until my mum (the baby) was in her teens.

That said, my great grandmother on the other side did have a baby at 46, but she never stopped... they were very observant Catholics and she had ten kids between 20 and 46. The other great grandmother who supposedly had her last kid at 51 hadn't had an actual pregnancy since the daughter who was the real mother of the baby.

Nobody is saying it's impossible, but some people are insisting it's common for women 46-51 to have babies naturally. Nah, it's not. Not common.

We don't know if VCM or any of these people has had help. Nor do we need to know, but that's besides the point.

Exactly this. It's vanishingly rare for a woman to get pregnant NATURALLY over 46-47, and as I said, the suggestion that's it's common and easy is misleading and cruel. Because it's giving women hope. Even 43-44 y.o. women are unlikely to get pregnant naturally. Sure it can happen and it does occasionally, but it's not COMMON.

Even though people don't like to hear this on here, the fact is that once women pass their mid 30s, their fertility start to decline, and with each passing year it declines further and further, and quicker and quicker... Yes women get pregnant naturally at 35-36+, but it becomes more difficult to conceive naturally after your mid 30s.

I am sick of seeing posts on here where people claim to know many women who had babies NATURALLY after their early 40s, with no complications, smooth pregnancy, easy birth, and nothing at all went wrong.

A woman who has passed her early 40s, who has a natural conception, a smooth pregnancy, and a complication free birth is in a very small minority.

I believe Victoria Coren-Mitchell's pregnancy was a surprise, or so reported. Of course it could have been a surprise following treatment

Ametora · 11/02/2024 14:27

boobot1 · 11/02/2024 09:30

It does happen though. My uncles mum had him naturally at 51!

How do you know that?
Home births were pretty common through the 60s and into the 70s.
or they went to visit a relative and came back with a baby

Boogiebadass · 10/02/2024 23:46

I feel sorry for Lisa. I can imagine how she feels, wasn’t long ago her partner dumped her dramatically too and took off with 100k of hers. It must feel like one thing after another

That’s how it’s shown in the tabloids. Always unhappy Lisa and oh-so-happy-Ant. Story about £100k came shortly after she split up with her recent boyfriend , an electrician. It was reported she’s going to sue him for this money. How can tabloids even know it? Lisa strongly denied it on her SM. For all we know , as wealthier person, she was happy to pay for him. But , of course, the only reason anyone would want to be with Lisa is her healthy bank account🙄Anne-Marie, for other hand, fell for Ant’s amazing personality.

OhmygodDont · 11/02/2024 15:13

Odds of getting and keeping a pregnancy in late 40’s are not high. Yet the odds of having and keeping one in the celeb world
seems to be the same at 20 year olds 😂 it anit nature it’s cash paying and paying till it works.

I don’t know why they keep bringing his ex into it. His new wife’s latest photos anit exactly some spring chicken they try to play out a women vs women when they try to pick Lisa’s worst ones either.

Ant is a knob though and though. But because his ant from ant and dec his god worshiped.

Anything to keeps the itv golden gooses in favour.

Yogatoga1 · 10/02/2024 19:33

Bingo!

knew someone would come along with the can’t possibly conceive naturally she’s so ancient.

it is perfectly possible.

Of course its perfectly possible but the older you are the less likely you are to.conceive and have a healthy pregnancy
Any way I hope everything goes well wut the pregnancy.

ssd · 11/02/2024 18:20

I didn't know he doesn't have kids, that makes this news even more exciting for him

Snugglemonkey · 11/02/2024 19:23

Runnerinthenight · 10/02/2024 23:38

@Snugglemonkey "Not necessarily. My granny had my aunt naturally at 49"

That's pretty rare!!

Well, weirdly, her sister had her last baby at 50. Also naturally. And my granny herself was born when her own mother was 47. Several of my aunts had babies until their late 40's.

I had premature ovarian failure and was fucked at 33. I was shocked to my core. I just thought that menopause must be about 50. I feel so, so lucky to have managed to have 2 children.

Disturbia81 · 11/02/2024 19:43

I'm just pleased she's his age, was half expecting "with his 30 year old wife" 🤢

JoanThursday1972 · 12/02/2024 23:03

redboots765 · 10/02/2024 19:03

She's 46...wow I don't imagine that's going to easy.

She isn't 46. Ann-Marie Geraldine Keane, who married Scott Corbett in 2002, was born in April 1976. She will be 48 when she gives birth. She's been knocking two years off her age in the press for years.

Astridastro · 12/02/2024 23:18

I wasn’t feeling too great last week at work, had a dodgy stomach and felt sick. Of course I just HAD to be pregnant. The number of people who said to me “are you sure you’re not pregnant?”
I’m 48 almost 49 there’s virtually no chance but then they tell you about their brother’s sister’s auntie’s dog’s grandma who got pregnant at that age!

Aren’t a lot of celebs using donor eggs and getting pregnant in their late 40/50s did that Tina off Shameless not do that?

Good luck to them I had my last baby at 34 and was knackered

Turefu · 13/02/2024 16:56

Online headlines are on Lisa full on: “ Ant’s ex ignores baby’s news”, “Ant’s ex Lisa posts cryptic message after receiving baby’s news”. “Poor Lisa deserves her happy ending too”, “Turbulent life of Ant’s ex Lisa : from the fire and planning to flee UK”. She’s done absolutely nothing , yet she’s harassed by the press. Sad.

Namechangeforthiss · 10/02/2024 19:39

How unusual as your odds of miscarriage at 46 are 75% and that’s if you conceive at all - the conception rate is 4%. So your odds of conceiving naturally and carrying to term are overall around 1%.

Your family must be a medical marvel.

Is this actually correct though?

I had a baby aged 42. Pregnant first month trying.

Grandmother had a babies aged 40, 42 and 46.

Cousin had a baby aged 45. Another cousin aged 44.

I think my family are marvellous but I'm doubtful we're medical marvels.

I know it can be harder to conceive during your 40s for some women but I think especially for those women who it's their second plus pregnancy it's maybe not as hard as once thought.

The fertility off a cliff aged 35 has been debunked right?

cerisepanther73 · 15/05/2024 05:51

Smug irritating 🙄 and over rated talent wise too guy...
Allways be a complete mystery why he is so popular uk 🇬🇧 wise..

10ThousandSpoons · 15/05/2024 06:48

All babies are a blessing

Maddie212 · 15/05/2024 07:33

Is this actually correct though?

IVF is a billion dollar industry. Safe to say age related infertility is indeed a thing

EachandEveryone · 15/05/2024 10:23

What do you think to the babies name. Wilder? I quite like it I’ve never seen it as a first name.

OP posts:
Riverlee · 15/05/2024 10:31

I quite like it. It reminds me when Zoey Ball and Fat Boy Slim named their son Woody twenty years ago. We were all abit ‘that’s unusual’ but now it seems normal.

JoanThursday1972 · 15/05/2024 10:56

All this nonsense is down to the media, not Lisa Armstrong. It's time the press stopped making her out to be some unhinged stalker and her "friends" buttoned it, if indeed there are friends talking to the press. It's more likely that the media made it up for clicks.

I follow Lisa on Instagram (I bought her makeup range from Avon in the past) and there is ZERO mention of Ant. No hints, no veiled comments, no memes, nothing about him whatsoever.

The tattoo of the tree looks absolutely stupid, as does Ant himself, who has zero talent (only IMO of course), and his wife "Amzie" is still fibbing about her age! Though each to their own, some will like it I guess.

WhattheactualFf · 15/05/2024 11:26

@JoanThursday1972 Why, how old is she and how old does she say she is?

JoanThursday1972 · 15/05/2024 11:27

WhattheactualFf · 15/05/2024 11:26

@JoanThursday1972 Why, how old is she and how old does she say she is?

She's 48 but is always reported in the press to be two years younger than whatever her age was at the time of writing. She was born in 1976.

Namechangeforthiss · 15/05/2024 11:33

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think the baby will ‘fix’ Ant in the way he expects it might. He has a lot of demons and although they may have emerged through the grief of childlessness, he’s nearly 50 and has been troubled for some time. I hope I’m proved wrong but it seems like a big gamble on his wife’s part.

I also find the tattoo beyond odd. Her daughters were teens (or nearly teens I believe?) when she met Ant, they’re legally his stepdaughters but he hasn’t raised them and isn’t their dad. I wonder what their actual dad makes of another man getting a tattoo of his teen daughter’s names after knowing them a few years.

All I can say is I hope Anne Marie knows what she’s doing. Congratulations to her on her new son.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/05/2024 11:43

I'm happy for them. They seem like a nice couple.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 15/05/2024 11:46

Lovely news. It’s nice to see him so happy. How sweet that his has his step-kids’ names on his tattoo.
