The wife is 46 probably being trying for a while https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/ant-mcpartlin-dad-first-time-48-annemarie-corbett-dec-b1138334.html I hope his ex wife is ok I always felt for her.

He must be over the moon. I still haven’t forgiven him for how he faced no consequences appearance wise after his drunk driving ☹️

I am LOLing at the posters on here saying their granny/great aunt/great cousin Flo had a baby at 47/48/49/50-odd NATURALLY back in the day. 😆

There were a huge amount of teen girls who got pregnant pre mid 1970s, and many who didn't have the baby taken away for adoption, had the mother (grandmother of the child) raise the baby, Many of them claimed they were the mother, after packing said pregnant daughter off to another relative's house while she had the baby. (And sometimes going with her, so no-one could see granny wasn't pregnant and teen daughter was!)

Many grannies and great aunts did NOT have a baby at 50-ish. Wink I am not saying it is physically impossible to conceive naturally around that age but it is VERY rare. In many cases, that baby was the middle aged woman's grandchild.

People need to stop peddling this tripe that it's perfectly normal to leave it to mid 40s before bothering to try for a baby, because 'my great auntie Fanny had perfectly healthy triplets at 51!!' It's really so unfair to do this.

As for Ant and his wife, I am pleased for them and hope they will be very happy. I am glad Ant is happy now. He never seemed happy to me when he was with his ex. When he was with her, his smile never reached his eyes.

I do normally side-eye a bit at pregnancies in people 45 and older, but it's seems different somehow when it's celebrities. Don't ask me why! Coz I don't know!

She's 46...wow I don't imagine that's going to easy.

She gave a nanny and plenty of all round help. Easy enough.

FastAndLast · 10/02/2024 20:47

LOLing all you want, my great grandmother had 2 teenage sons when she had my grandad at 45, there was no teenage daughter for her to cover up a pregnancy for.

problembottom · 10/02/2024 20:48

My mum had me at this age. Fell pregnant by accident, she’d had my three siblings in her 20s. It took her ages to realise why she was feeling so poorly, she didn’t have a clue! Here I am, in my 40s and my mum is still going strong thankfully, we recently lost my dad.

Good luck to them, Ant must be thrilled it’s happened for him as I imagine he’d reconciled himself with never being a father.

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 20:50

My husband's first wife couldn't have children and together they accepted this. Years later they divorced, but this was nothing to do with the reason why. She is now also happily remarried (to a woman); they're both such lovely people.
When he met me in his mid 40s he was happy to become a part-time stepdad to my two sons as I'd decided I didn't want another child.
But late 30s I changed my mind.
We're 43 and 48 with a 3 yo and both work so totally and utterly knackered, but can't imagine life without our little girl. He is an exceptional daddy.
But personally speaking feel we'd be too old to have another baby now - hubby has had the snip!

theduchessofspork · 10/02/2024 20:54

@EbonyRaven

It’s not that unusual either - wasn’t in the past because of no decent birth control, isn’t now because people leave it later.

My friendship group includes planned unassisted pregnancies at 44 and 46 and two surprises at 46 and 47. My friends can’t be that incredibly fecund. This is not to say it’s a good idea to leave it very late - and I have friends who had IVF in their late 30s also, and a few that never got pregnant. It’s true some late babies in the past were actually grandchildren, but certainly not all.

ssd · 10/02/2024 20:54

Wow, very brave

2031MummyTBC · 10/02/2024 21:01

@EbonyRaven agree, and I've heard the story on here of the friend who had twins at 47 with two older 17yos about a thousand times.

It is possible at 46 to have a baby naturally, but the odds are that with a husband of 48, or was probably assisted conception. Really not that big of a deal and I'm not sure why we need to fall over ourselves to say 'no no, maybe it's natural'.

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:02

@2031MummyTBC Not sure what the husband being 48 has much to do with it?

Yogatoga1 · 10/02/2024 21:04

Menopause babies are a thing.

it’s not unusual for an older woman to think she cannot conceive because she is too old, then catch a “menopause baby”.

one of DD’s best mates mums is 10 years older than me so would have had her at 46- she thought her periods had stopped due to menopause. And no, no teenage daughters 🙄.

my cousins are catholic and had more babies than I can remember. They were still going when I moved away, she was later 40’s and he was late 50’s.

it’s unusual now because most women don’t want babies at that age, and contraception is available. It’s more likely there were more older pregnancies due to lack of birth control than covering up teen pregnancies.

It was her husband who got her pregnant, right? Or is there more to this story?

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:05

@2031MummyTBC But what has the fact he's 48 got anything to do with whether she conceived naturally or not?

2031MummyTBC · 10/02/2024 21:06

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:05

@2031MummyTBC But what has the fact he's 48 got anything to do with whether she conceived naturally or not?

Because they're both older. That marked conception harder. Is this news to anyone?

I feel sorry for the xw too. Doesn't mean he shouldn't move on buts it's quite a kick in the teeth for her Sad

Yeah. Me too.

onwardsup4 · 10/02/2024 21:07

@2031MummyTBC looks that way

@2031MummyTBC looks that way

I'm going to assume they're an older parent and maybe this is a sensitive topic but even so, denying that is a bit mad

Shivermetimbers13 · 10/02/2024 21:09

My mum had her last child at 47. It was fine. Congratulations to them both.

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:09

@2031MummyTBC I fell pregnant at 43 by my 47 yo husband. This was despite the fact he'd had a vasectomy 3 months earlier, we were very infrequently having sex due to a back injury, and I was also taking the minipill 100% correctly!! To say it was a shock was an understatement!!!

WandaWonder · 10/02/2024 21:10

Good to know he has your blessing, or maybe not

Even you were shocked, so there you go... no?

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:12

@2031MummyTBC Well yes, because he'd had a vasectomy and I was on the pill. I wouldn't have been shocked in the slightest otherwise!!

Do you know if the grandmother went on the birth certificate in these cases as the mother?

FruitBat53 · 10/02/2024 21:14

I think she's very brave doing it all over again when she has teenagers. And with a recovering addict as the father. I was a grandmother at 46.... who run me ragged and I need a lie down in a dark room when they go home.

Lisa would also help herself move on enormously by keeping quiet on SM when things like this happen. No reaction = media lose interest with her.

LorlieS · 10/02/2024 21:18

@FruitBat53 She has one teenage son.
I have 3 kids - almost 14 and 16 (first marriage) and a 3 yo with my second husband.
Absolutely no regrets. We are 43 and 48. Conceived first month!

Do you think that multi-millionaire Ant and his wife might be able to afford some help around the house?!

All the best to them. A baby is a blessing.

I think the poster meant that pregnancy is riskier for an older woman eg risks to mum and baby having disabilities. They're grandparent age but celebs becoming parents are getting older and older. It's not really that surprising anymore.
