Just starting to panic now as obviously I need it for work ... and all my photos and contacts Sad. I hate myself for this. I'm always losing things but I've never lost my phone for over 24 hours now. It's already causing me lots of inconvenience.

Where the hell is it? I know I had it yesterday morning. It was charging by my bed. I might have left it in the bedroom or brought it downstairs with me ... it was my day off work so I spent the morning pottering about, generally tidying and putting things away. Then I had a shower. Then I went to check my phone at about lunch time ... and it's gone somewhere and I haven't seen it since.

FFS. FML. etc.

You took it into the bathroom when you went for a shower? That's usually where mine is hiding.

Dorsetlover · 09/02/2024 19:10

https://www.google.com/android/find/

It will ring it a full volume even if on silent. Might need to try a few times - I use it all the time to find my Galaxy.

Find My Device

Find My Device makes it easy to locate, ring or wipe your device from the web.

Is it the same colour as any surfaces? My phone case is black and so are my kitchen counters. I've lost count of the number of times I've lost my phone and it turns out to be right in front of me, but camouflaged.

I did the same, but unfortunately I did turn the machine on 🙈.

I did it with a fitbit. Realised when a notification popped on my phone about having a great workout... while I was laying on the sofa.

Phone has appeared behind the loo before, having fallen out if back pocket.

Find my android should tell you when and where it was last located though - did it not say that? If it says it can't find it, it might be flat though.

When I do mine, it tells me what WiFi network it's connected to and what battery percentage it has. This is not a suprise as it's in my hand 😁

There's an old tablet on there though - that says can't find device. If I press on the little i next to it, it says it was last active 14 Dec 2023 which is probably when it was last charged.

SerendipityJane · 09/02/2024 19:14

Completely missing the point, but backing things up is never a lame idea ...

BertieBotts · 09/02/2024 19:14

You can also log into Google maps and do "my timeline" which will tell you if somebody has taken it out of the house.

Lastminutebride · 09/02/2024 19:16

Have you checked in the bin. I lost mine ince and retraced my steps and it was in a bin bag in the wheelie bin.
in the washing machine?
or a wardrobe?

YummyBelicious · 09/02/2024 19:16

Footwell of the car?
Airing cupboard?
Bin?

If you had it by your bed, I would try pulling the bed out and properly searching to see if it's slipped down and under, or in between the mattress and the headboard.

If not, I have a method for finding things (I'm the queen of finding lost items in our house 😆). First you need to calm down, you will not look properly if you are panicking.

Then. Start with the room that's most likely to contain the item, then work through in order of likelihood. In each room, you conduct three searches- high (places at eye level and higher), middle (tables, tops of chest of drawers etc) and low (under/behind furniture). Lift any loose items and check underneath them- magazines, blankets etc and shake out your bedding. If you still can't find it, check your car.

Sorry, this probably sounds very extra but it does usually work! I hope you find it OP 😔

Raincloudsonasunnyday · 09/02/2024 19:19

You've put it down face-up on something totally black, or face-down on something the same colour as your phone case. That's if you're anywhere the level of eejit I am 🙄

troppibambini6 · 09/02/2024 19:19

I did the ring thing on my iPhone too. It will ring really loud even if it's on silent. Mine was in the drive outside and still heard it.

AlisonWonderbra · 09/02/2024 19:23

Do you have a smart speaker? I have Google nests in each room so just say "Hey Google, call my phone" and it rings it. It even rings it at full volume if I've left it on silent from work. It's a game changer for me because I misplace my phone at least once per day, and I'm prone to a bit of panicking!

Sherrystrull · 09/02/2024 19:26

Mine was in my dressing gown pocket!

Creeperofhabit · 09/02/2024 19:30

In a pocket?

FusionChefGeoff · 09/02/2024 19:35

DS lost his first ever prized phone about 6 months after he'd got it. He was GUTTED and we turned the house upside down repeatedly plus phoned lots of places trying to track it down.

Turns out it had been packed up inside our tent after our holiday Grin. I had a crazy idea that there was one place we hadn't looked so we put it up in the garden et voila it was between the groundsheet and the bedroom pod

SKG231 · 09/02/2024 19:41

I need to know where you found the phone!!

Wildflower86 · 09/02/2024 19:44

Ring it with lights off, now its dark should light up

Bluetrews25 · 09/02/2024 19:52

Has DH moved it?

Cloverforever · 09/02/2024 20:04

Mine slipped off my pillow, down the back and into the hollow/ottoman bit below. Took me a while to find it that time!

ilovepixie · 09/02/2024 20:09

Ask Siri where she is.

Luckydog7 · 09/02/2024 20:15

Have you used a different coat or bag to normal recently?

You said you had a tidy earlier, that seems a likely candidate. It's probably with something you tidied away. Kids draws?

I found my phone in the box of washing powder once. Id balanced it on the corner while doing a washing load and the movement had knocked it in. I've also left it on the shoe rack, one of the dressing gowns. In bed with me and dh all night. Balanced on top of the bannister at the top of the stairs, tucked in a corner of the bathroom where it wouldn't get wet, car phone holder, car door pocket, behind coffee/side tables.

springcantcome2soon · 09/02/2024 19:04

Are you sure it's in the house?

Yes. Because I know for absolute certain that I had it yesterday morning. The reason I know is that I posted on Facebook about a major life event (my Mum's funeral actually) the night before and I got lots of FB notifications. I saw them all in the morning.

And I didn't leave the house (my day off) until the late afternoon which was when I already knew it was lost so it wasn't with me.

Only DH and I living here atm. DH definitely hasn't seen it or moved it, he's helped me search for hours.

I've had the stressiest month (see Mum dying) and this is the cherry on top.

Mynewnameis · 09/02/2024 20:19

Mine was in the washing machine. Wasn't a good outcome

HotToes · 09/02/2024 20:19

I'm sorry you're having a stressful time. Sorry for the loss of your mum. It's so easy to loose things when your mind it else where. Maybe have a chill out for the rest of the evening it will probs show up when you're not looking for it.
