Nephew is 7!!

Spencer0220 · 02/02/2024 04:00

Posting here for traffic. I originally posted in toys and games and got nowhere.

Nephew is 7 beginning of March and I'm stuck. DSis literally no help as she doesn't agree with my £25 budget. Thinks all I will buy is something crap! £25 is literally all we can afford.

This was Christmas and he loved it: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092VWCQF8?ref=cmmswrrcsowaaapindppXE6HGCY9PPJMJTRB9BJM&cafHiResImg=1&language=en-GB

He loves anything craft/paint based. No modelling clay please.

Has a few paint by numbers. Not sure if he wants more. Loves marvel, Roblox and football.

Thank you so much x

Bath Bombs / products? Look at the Baff range on Amazon and there are so many things that we always get great feedback on when we buy as gifts for family and friends children. Crackles, colour changes, rocket bath bombs etc. It's like a science experiment in the bath!

Frangipanyoul8r · 04/02/2024 00:04

A really messy slime making kit or potions kit just to piss your sister off. Or a really difficult Lego set that his parents will have to spent hours and hours helping him build.

My 1st thought was kidezoom either camera or smart watch.both child friendly(resistant!)decent products.both offer camera\cames setting. they still over budget tho cex\ebay has lower cost pre own.both are fabulous for 7 yr old.photography is art. they donnot connect to internet but are fab starter level digital products. there is alternatives but i only had the kz for mine.eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/Camera-Childrens-Digital-Toddler-Birthday/dp/B0CJ6SC9HJ?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A2WC981Z0FQHVT

Your sister doesn’t agree with your budget??? Wth! I have various nieces and nephews and have managed presents at £15 - £20 for years and all successful. Tell her to stop bringing her chn up to be spoilt brats like her!
I work with 7 year olds Try a water bottle with a fave team or game on it or books.

My just turned 7 year old DS is obsessed with those dig kits, you know gemstones, fossils, sharks teeth etc he has had tonnes but still always wants to buy them with his saved up birthday money when he sees them. National Geographic activities are always a hit, the volcano one involves building and painting too, crystal making etc

User373433 · 04/02/2024 01:19

Totem Internal and Beyblades have been a hit too. And his current hobby is magnet fishing, you can get kits for that, if he has somewhere to go and someone to take him.

I bought one for my (then) eleven y.o and the seven year old nabbed it! Ended up with two so they could play together (outdo one another lol)

Good price just now as well, I paid full price and still thought it was worth it. It doesn’t take up lots of room, is ideal for travel, encourages creativity, perseverance and hand-to-eye co-ordination. What does your DSis want, a Rolex 😜

25 is a lot of money for a 7yr! She’s being rude and ungrateful. Wow.

Is the DSis who thinks all you can with your budget is something crap the mother of your nephew? If so, I would tell her I wouldn't bother then.

If it is a different sister I'd go to The Works with my £25 and buy him a load of craft materials.

Yep, that's her!!!

Get something creative that's messy and difficult to remove from clothes, carpets and walls.

😂😂😂

Brilliant!

Thank you so much everyone!!

I ended up getting a paint by numbers kit that I found, where he can hang the finished canvas on his wall. It's got a number of cartoon characters I know he's into.

I'm going to save this thread for Christmas as I'm pretty sure most of the suggestions him & one of his brothers will love!!

A board game, a Where's Wally book and some of his favourite sweets.

Goldbar · 04/02/2024 05:33

Your sister is very unreasonable. £25 is a decent budget by most people's standards for a niece/nephew gift. My siblings are not hard up but when asked for Christmas gift suggestions, I gave a few ranging from £15-25 for the 6yo (and obviously much less for the baby, who didn't really need anything).

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 04/02/2024 06:22

Outfoxed is a great whodunnit style boardgame for kids! Ditto Grabbolo, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. My kid loves Mikado as well.

Most successful gift I bought my kid for Xmas was a Hungry Hippos game I found at the charity shop for £7.50 so your sister can do one 😉

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 04/02/2024 06:25

If you feel like being very annoying, get him a domino run. Hideous noise, they get everywhere, hundreds of them, take a million years to clear up, like Lego when you tread on them and kids are obsessed with them

EmpressFlabulonTheWobbulous · 04/02/2024 06:33

When you get to Christmas have a look at scrawlr box. They have old boxes reduced and at Christmas they went down to about £8. My 6yr old daughter currently wants to be an artist and I got her one of the boxes with paint pens. It comes with some proper art paper, pencil and some instructions/ideas for how to use the pens. She absolutely loved it, felt very grown up with her box of adult art stuff.

Unicorntastic · 04/02/2024 06:38

I know you’ve bought something now but you can get light up footballs from Amazon, I got my 6 yr old godson one.

Ketakones · 04/02/2024 06:39

I got my nephew a tie dye set (dye came in little bottles with nozzles) and so e white t shirts. He loved it! And it wasn't messy. Also think a marble run is a great idea. Loads of good ideas on this thread!

Mothership4two · 04/02/2024 06:44

Second @herbygarden's suggestion of Hama beads and my niece, who loved to make them, also liked scratch art paper/card.

Hama was autocorrected to Hamas, which would be a completely different kind of gift!

Roller skates
lego
football cards and collectors folder
football
football shirt/socks/boot bag

£25 roller skates won’t work or be very used and in bad condition if you mean second hand?
