Posting here for traffic. I originally posted in toys and games and got nowhere.

Nephew is 7 beginning of March and I'm stuck. DSis literally no help as she doesn't agree with my £25 budget. Thinks all I will buy is something crap! £25 is literally all we can afford.

This was Christmas and he loved it: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092VWCQF8?ref=cmmswrrcsowaaapindppXE6HGCY9PPJMJTRB9BJM&cafHiResImg=1&language=en-GB

He loves anything craft/paint based. No modelling clay please.

Has a few paint by numbers. Not sure if he wants more. Loves marvel, Roblox and football.

Thank you so much x

The works do lots of great kits like that and they are usually £5-£10

Skodacool · 04/02/2024 07:43

What a shame your DS is teaching your lovely sounding nephew such shallow values. Is she always so obsessed with the price of things?

Summerscoming23 · 04/02/2024 07:46

You can get football nets with that budget?

Or a new football and gloves if he plays keeper?

Or one of those target nets...

Stressedoutmammy · 04/02/2024 07:54

I think £25 is absolutely fine and you can get loads with it particularly if you shop around. As someone else has said Argos do 2 for £20 on lots of gifts and I’ve noticed Lego etc for sale in supermarkets recently. However, if he loves Roblox, I would go with Robux, I hated getting it for my kids when they went through that phase because it seems a waste of money to me, but he will love you for it!

nothing, he won't remember.

Prize for most unhelpful post of the year Grin
Maybe you misread and thought he was 7 months old?!

Meagainnewname · 04/02/2024 08:07

Pokémon cards, on Amazon you can buy a bundle of 100 for £5 and also get an album to put them in

nomoresnacks · 04/02/2024 08:14

£25 is a good budget !!

If he's into football - I would get him a football you can colour in . They do them team specific , they are about £12

The get him some other craft bits

My two loved the colour in footballs

Triangledreams · 04/02/2024 08:15

£25 is more than enough. Check out 2 for 20 offer on argos, some great lego sets in there and other bits that im sure he would love. Also the works have some great puzzle books and craft sets. Ignore the mothers cruel comments, its lovely that you're interested and wanting to buy something special for him, hes a very lucky boy.

(Mum of a 7yo!)

nomoresnacks · 04/02/2024 08:16

Guess who football edition was also a winner in our house this Christmas if he's into board games

Soundsliketrouble · 04/02/2024 08:18

Sea monkeys have been a hit amongst that age group in our family. And tamogotchi have made a revival. Both well within budget.

Smarshian · 04/02/2024 08:20

My 7 yo DD also loves crafty things. My mum bought her a huge box of crafty bits from hobby craft for her for Christmas. Just went mad in the craft section. She LOVED it.

Wednesdaysphiltrum · 04/02/2024 08:23

Your sister is a piece of work. Hopefully you can influence the nephew not to be an ungrateful, mercenary twat like her.

Shakespearesister · 04/02/2024 08:25

Would personally buy £20 of Roblox voucher and a little something to open like a pencil case or some chocolates, marvel shower gel etc

MyMiniMetro · 04/02/2024 08:28

Buy him a £25 Roblox voucher to waste online away from the control of his mum and he will love you forever. DS sounds like a piece of work though. To think that at one time we would worry about offending people by using the wrong fork and here she is dismissing your offer of a present as not expensive enough 🤷🏼‍♀️ Kids love cheaper stuff, they really do. Not everything has to be super high-quality and worthy. Please tell your DS her behaviour is rude before she shows herself up in front of other parents.

TwistedSisters · 04/02/2024 08:33

Remote control stunt vehicle...a friend's 8 year old got one of these recently and loves it...look an amazon think they're about 20 quid.

Hedgehog23 · 04/02/2024 08:34

The board game outfoxed is good.

butterpuffed · 04/02/2024 08:38

I bought my niece a Melissa and Doug Stained Glass Made Easy Craft Kit from Amazon [sorry , messed up a link] ., she loved it . There are quite a few different ones ,£27 , so only just above your budget .

Like minds! I would search noisemakers on Amazon and get him one of the "sound machines" and a one of those things to squeeze and make fart noises.

Your DN sounds like a sweet kid but your NVDS sounds like a witch.

Seriously though, there are a lot of craft kits and even "science kits" that a seven-year-old boy would enjoy. Ditto on Legos, Roblox, as there seem to be choices for every price range.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 04/02/2024 08:46

My nephew is 5 going on 7, likes stuff for older kids. Half the stuff on his Christmas list he wasn’t allowed!

He likes Star Wars, Pokémon, Robux, Lego and not really into football or not yet but does like the local pottery painting cafe when they go. A voucher is a good idea. Marvel based items go down well too but maybe out of budget. They might be out of budget but does he have the magnetic tiles (Australian?) as DNephew loves those. Crafty bits from Baker Ross, The Works, Hobbycraft have been well received. I now tend to ask his parents to see what he has/hasn’t got.

Your sister is very rude to state your limit isn’t enough!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/02/2024 08:51

With some of his Christmas money (£23) my grandson (7) bought this, and was delighted with it.
It’s a Goojitsu thing (he loves all those) called Brain Boom. It’s a squishy monster thing and when you squeeze its head its brain pops out!

Sorry, no link, but it’s on Amazon.

Gemstonebeach · 04/02/2024 08:54

£25 pound isn’t crap at all, that NZD$50ish and that’s heaps to spend. If he likes Marvel, I would get him a couple of action figures plus you could still buy something else!

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 04/02/2024 06:22

Outfoxed is a great whodunnit style boardgame for kids! Ditto Grabbolo, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. My kid loves Mikado as well.

Most successful gift I bought my kid for Xmas was a Hungry Hippos game I found at the charity shop for £7.50 so your sister can do one 😉

My kids had that when young. OMG it was noisy! LOL!

I assume they haven't found a way to make it quieter? I always called it the perfect gift for children of a frenemy. 😉

Second @herbygarden's suggestion of Hama beads and my niece, who loved to make them, also liked scratch art paper/card.

Hama was autocorrected to Hamas, which would be a completely different kind of gift!

Are Hama beads like fuse beads? I used to buy my DGD Perler beads and patterns. She enjoyed it, though not as much as she loved making slime. She made a lot of slime for a few years. 😵
