Posting here for traffic. I originally posted in toys and games and got nowhere.

Nephew is 7 beginning of March and I'm stuck. DSis literally no help as she doesn't agree with my £25 budget. Thinks all I will buy is something crap! £25 is literally all we can afford.

This was Christmas and he loved it: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092VWCQF8?ref=cmmswrrcsowaaapindppXE6HGCY9PPJMJTRB9BJM&cafHiResImg=1&language=en-GB

He loves anything craft/paint based. No modelling clay please.

Has a few paint by numbers. Not sure if he wants more. Loves marvel, Roblox and football.

Thank you so much x

She sounds very ungrateful and for that reason I would buy nephew lots of glitter and slime.

Lego is always a good gift.

Lovemusic82 · 04/02/2024 16:55

Also a gazzoo
land a whoops cushion

both equally as annoying

Lovemusic82 · 04/02/2024 16:55

Meant to say whoopy cushion

MikeRafone · 04/02/2024 16:57

A kite

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 04/02/2024 17:16

Robux?
My kids love getting Minecoins to buy mods - I guess Robux are the same.
Or give their fav snack and some cash?

If you buy games/merch - you’re probably doubling up on what they already have if you don’t ask.

Can you ask the kid?

My about-to-be-seven year old loves Lego, Sonic, Pokemon, Monster Jam, and dinosaurs. Any Jurassic world figure, Pokemon plushy, monster jam truck, or Sonic merchandise would go down well. All well under £25.

He also really loves games like Kerplunk, Connect Four, Buckeroo and Pop Up Pirates, if you want something different.

@mummydoris2006 I assure you, I was after help finding a gift.

We don't all live with magic and roses.

What about Lite Brite? Arty but a bit different to drawing/painting.
https://amzn.eu/d/02It4eT. My 7 year old daughter loved it and we’ve bought it for other kids of similar age to a good reception.

£25 is perfectly fine budget for a 7yo. That's our budget for our nephews and neices and it's not because we can't afford more! Our DS8 often gets £25 gift voucher from relatives and he's always grateful of what he gets. Sounds like mother is the problem, not the budget.

Have you considered paint set/art set if your nephew is into art?

cockadoodledandy · 04/02/2024 19:36

Buy him some robux ?

snackatack · 04/02/2024 19:48

I saw someone suggest a coffee shop voucher - so he can go out for a hot chocolate and a cake.. mine would have loved that

mummydoris2006 · 04/02/2024 20:03

@Spencer0220 what a very strange reply! Have you got me mixed up with someone else with the magic and roses comment as I can assure you I certainly don't 😆

navigatingmy20s · 04/02/2024 20:23

£25 is more than generous! One of my sister in laws never spend more than £10 on my two children. X

Monkeypopcorn · 04/02/2024 20:39

If you're going to go down the crafty option I would consider gifting it along with a note to say you'll do this with him either at your house or theirs. My son loves crafts, but I work full time, have other children and am inevitably too shattered to do crafty things on a week day. It would mean so much more to my son if someone bought a gift along with the offer to complete it with him with some one on one time. Rather than a gift that sits under his bed for 6 months while his mum tries to get her shit together.

TheSnakeCharmer · 04/02/2024 21:13

Screwball scramble or addictaball are great games for that age. Or football training arcs. Alternatively books on footballers (road to the world cup series). They're not literary masterpieces, but they do encourage boys to read. K'nex is also great.

ClosedGlassCase · 04/02/2024 22:29

Another vote for Lego, don’t go too high in age range, stick to his age, my youngest struggles and gets his sister to complete if it’s too difficult.

My son, was also a huge fan of money at that age 🤣

OolongTeaDrinker · 04/02/2024 22:40

Someone got our DS this kind of thing for his 7th birthday and he LOVES it :)

Jiski · 04/02/2024 22:45

Take him to the shop and let him pick or give him cash.

blackoverbillsmothers · 05/02/2024 00:58

What about a Spirograph?

Ex teacher. I bought a marble run for
my year 1 class and they loved it. I’m sure older children would too.

Nicetoknowyou · 05/02/2024 03:51

I think £25 is a lot for a gift! I’d be tempted to get tons of craft bits for say £15 she wouldn’t have a clue you’d spent less and neither would your nephew and he wouldn’t care! Or get some craft stuff and a Roblox card for £10

mirax · 05/02/2024 04:21

Op has already bought a gift but here is a fantastic science kit I bought for my 6 year old nephew - he could easily assemble the projects by himself. The great thing is that it has components you could add to and is very educational up to the teen years.

Firstly I think it's disgusting that they are being so rude. It's about the thought not the price. Why did you even tell them how much your spending?
Spend what you can and tell them to be more gracious and grateful. Otherwise they will have a spoilt brat in the end.
What is he in to? See if you can find models to create of that. Why not get a nice set set with paper and crafts? Some books and chocolates? There's plenty you can get I reckon he'd love.
