Posting here for traffic. I originally posted in toys and games and got nowhere.

Nephew is 7 beginning of March and I'm stuck. DSis literally no help as she doesn't agree with my £25 budget. Thinks all I will buy is something crap! £25 is literally all we can afford.

This was Christmas and he loved it: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092VWCQF8?ref=cmmswrrcsowaaapindppXE6HGCY9PPJMJTRB9BJM&cafHiResImg=1&language=en-GB

He loves anything craft/paint based. No modelling clay please.

Has a few paint by numbers. Not sure if he wants more. Loves marvel, Roblox and football.

Thank you so much x

What a horrible, rude SIL you have!

Correction - horrible sister. I wouldn’t ask for gift suggestions in future. Stick the cash in a birthday card. I don’t know why people put up with this kind of crap. I appreciate it’s not always easy to deal with difficult people, but for goodness sake, stop bending over!

Lookingforward01 · 06/02/2024 11:04

That's so rude. I have a six (soon to be 7 YO) and £25 is a great budget.

I would be tempted to buy a big slime kit. But then I'm petty.

NoThanksymm · 06/02/2024 22:54

Take him for a day and do the craft/fun thing with him!

so much more memorable!

and cause your sister is being an ass ensure there is a LOT of glitter involved!!!

Thank you again to everyone for helping. I appreciate it so much xx

Crikey £25 is great! There's some amazing Lego sets for £20 / £25.

Yes the Roblox voucher is a lovely idea.

Kidz Labs do some great sets

Also I got my 8yo boy the Roald Dahl set Christmas 23' and it has been an absolute joy!!! 5yo enjoys too! Think that was £28 of you could push it to that.

Well your sister sounds unpleasant if you can afford £25 that's what you can afford I
Personally if she was so ungrateful I wouldn't get him anything but if you feel you must put it in a card and they can put it towards something more expensive.

Went to B&M and bought some great toys for much less that a 7yr old is really pleased with.

No don’t buy random toys from
b&m for someone else’s kid. One quality present (book set from an author they like, new football, nintendo voucher) is so much better than stacks of toys that were bought just because they were cheap. I buy the odd think from b&m that i know my kids will like but other people rarely get it right when doing that and the gifts are wasted.

I agree with this. The 6 year old I know far prefers nicer/quality items that random tat from B&M etc which will get discarded shortly by him if not his parents.

Zombie thread. It's nearly a year old.

I bought a Squishy that was 2/3 the price elsewhere, some lovely books and colouring pencils. Yes there are cheaper items but do not dismiss cheaper shops without looking

At 7, he will remember.

Sorry, I’d be a bit annoyed with that den set. I don’t have room for something like that.

Well if his mother is the one who thinks the OP isn't spending enough this feels like a double win 🤣.
