Sick to death of dogs

Went to the beach today with dh and dd1.

Got jumped on by a dog off its lead. Owner said "oh. Sorry"

Two dogs ran up to us and started growling and snapping at me and dd who was playing on the sand.

Another dog ran up to us, had no idea what it's intentions were!

All off lead, all owners using their baby voices "don't do that Fido darling!"

Dog shit bags everywhere despite their being loads of bins and even free dog bags!

Absolutely so fed up of entitled dog owners and their nasty little dogs.

🙄

itsalwaysthesame · 29/01/2024 00:33

🐶 I love em, find people, especially other people's children much more annoying tbh

WinterMorn · 29/01/2024 00:35

Sick to death of threads like this…..

breathinbreathout · 29/01/2024 00:36

There is no excuse for dog shit being left.

If you cannot control your dog off lead don't let it off lead. My dog has dreadful recall so isn't off lead in public.

It really isn't dogs but crappy owners OP that are the problem.

YeOldeGreyhound · 29/01/2024 00:39

I don't believe that all those particular things happened to you in one day.

You are either very unlucky or lying.

Headstarttohappiness · 29/01/2024 00:47

Me too!

Babla · 29/01/2024 00:48

Wow another dog hating thread 🙄

SwordToFlamethrower · 29/01/2024 00:48

I don't care what you believe. These things happened.

This particular beach is a magnet for dog walkers. They outnumber non dog walkers.

OP posts:
Babla · 29/01/2024 00:49

Go to a different beach then...

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/01/2024 00:50

It's winter, dogs are allowed on beaches.

YABU for going to a dog friendly beach and moaning that dogs are there.

MonsteraMama · 29/01/2024 00:53

How strange that these things only seem to happen multiple times a day to people who hate dogs.

QueenBitch666 · 29/01/2024 00:55

Dogs are fab. It's the owners that are shite 🙄

Got to agree. Dogs over humans all day long

next time it happens be very stern and serious with the owners and tell them to keep their dogs under control as per the dangerous dogs legislation which applies to all breeds of dogs. it’s bad enough when it happens to me as an adult but I think it’s awful when it happens to children.

I do sympathise it has really got worse in the past decade….a few examples of my experiences in the last 6 months alone .

I took a 3 hour train journey and on both the outwards and return journey there were dogs in my carriage. On one journey the owner decided to let her dog walk up and down the aisle unleashed which is against the train rules. I was had a bag of Christmas food presents on the floor so had to quickly move that out its way in case.

And on the way back this jack russell was on a leash but it was long enough so it could still stand in the aisle and cross over and bother other people who all tried to ignore it. It came into my seat space so I had to put my legs up and told it to go. The owner turned and said sorry are you scared? I said I don’t want your dog in my space.

She moved her dog onto the seat next to her (gross) for two minutes and then let it come back down as she was too busy on her phone not paying attention and it was bothering me again.

Eventually I just grabbed my stuff and moved carriages, luckily there was no dogs in there. I was carrying luggage as well and had to pointedly asked her to move her dog out my way so I could get out. She clearly expected me to step over her dog and no doubt if it had bitten me I’d have got the blame for stepping over it.

I was barked, and lunged at on a Coastal path walk in autumn by two dogs that were pulling hard at the owners harness. It did kind of put me on edge for the rest of the walk.

I was on holiday recently in a European city and I was looking forward to checking out this breakfast cafe. As soon as I stepped in a dog approached me and wouldn’t leave me alone. I had to ask the staff to get it away from me. The daft owner was sat around the corner in the cafe. I immediately just left and found somewhere else to eat.

I actively avoid parks so I don’t need to deal with dogs as much but they’re everywhere nowadays!

Don’t even get me started on the dog poo…

beeNqueen · 29/01/2024 01:06

On your side can't stand them + owners !

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/01/2024 01:06

I think dogs are like cats, they get attracted to people who don't like them

Itsnotmypartybutiwannacry · 29/01/2024 01:06

Out of interest, if you hate dogs, why did you go to a beach that is a "magnet for dogs"?

So they can moan on here 😅

buttons55 · 29/01/2024 01:16

Agreed, it's nice to take my toddlers to areas where I know there will be no traffic and they're safe to walk, play and burn off some energy but all these sort of outdoor places we're always getting dogs running towards us, jumping up on us, it makes me nervous. People seem to prefer dogs to children these days it seems

placemats · 29/01/2024 01:20

I cannot stand irresponsible dog owners because they give the majority of responsible dog owners a hard time.

When on a beach we saw a dog owner strap his puppy, large but a puppy nonetheless, to a beach buggy to exercise him. I was with my sister and bil and we couldn't believe what we were seeing. Animal cruelty in plain sight.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 29/01/2024 01:21

Oh goody, yet another dog hating thread.

lavenderlou · 29/01/2024 01:22

Only took three posts for someone to come on and spout that dogs are better than kids! As if there was even any comparison.

Nothing more annoying than entitled dog owners who think their mutt's right to run around at will is above the right of humans to walk undisturbed in a public place. Keep your dog on a lead if it's going to approach people uninvited.

placemats · 29/01/2024 01:23

Did you think my post was dog hating @Manyandyoucanwalkover

Or are you an irresponsible dog owner?

How stupid to go in the first place. 😂🙄
