Sick to death of dogs

Went to the beach today with dh and dd1.

Got jumped on by a dog off its lead. Owner said "oh. Sorry"

Two dogs ran up to us and started growling and snapping at me and dd who was playing on the sand.

Another dog ran up to us, had no idea what it's intentions were!

All off lead, all owners using their baby voices "don't do that Fido darling!"

Dog shit bags everywhere despite their being loads of bins and even free dog bags!

Absolutely so fed up of entitled dog owners and their nasty little dogs.

If you’re telling the truth then I feel sorry for your dogs.

The thing I don’t understand is how dogs seem to ‘target’ people who dislike/hate them? Why don’t they approach all the dog lovers? Amazing!

Why on earth would you feel sorry for my dogs?

Einevinefine · 29/01/2024 05:07

@darkmodeera
Your smell seems to have attracted alot of doggies today. Maybe it's all the sweaty anger you have about life.

This comment is unnecessarily offensive and rude imo

VioletPickles · 29/01/2024 05:22

I do wish dogs were kept on a lead. I don’t particularly mind them, I just don’t want them in my space.

Took my DD out to play football on a local Astro pitch with her new football from Christmas and a bloody Collie ran up and burst the ball! Not even an apology from the owner. Annoying

Dentistlakes · 29/01/2024 05:30

I know exactly where you’re coming from op, especially about the dog shit everywhere. It’s getting out of hand and yes, it is only the minority, but it’s a serious health risk apart from being utterly revolting.

Brawcolli · 29/01/2024 05:41

Aye all the comments pissing and moaning about another dog thread/ not believing op/ blaming op/ the very witty and not at all overdone ‘dogs are better than children/people’ really are just proving ops point. I don’t understand what it is about owning a dog that seems to infuse some people with entitlement, it’s very weird. When I had a dog I never let them off the lead in public areas, picked up their shite and obviously didn’t let them jump up on people, because that just seems like common sense!

My neighbourhood is covered in dog shit, and lots of people just release their dogs as soon as they enter the park which is used as a football pitch by children. The football area is basically a shite minefield, it’s disgusting : /

Coffeeandtveasily · 29/01/2024 05:47

And all the sarcastic silly comments from entitled dog owners on this thread confirm what OP is saying.
So predictable.
Put your dogs on a leash, keep them away from people who don't want your manky "fur baby" near them and pick up their shite.

MikeRafone · 29/01/2024 05:52

A child got hurt in our local park this weekend, as a large dog knocked her over & jumped on her. The child fortunately wasn’t bitten but the dog left scratch marks across her back and the girl was sobbing. The owns collected their dog and ran away without uttering a word.

dogs shouldn’t be off the lead if the owners can’t control the animal, it’s not fair on others. Parks and beaches shouldn’t be no go areas for others due to badly behaved dog owners.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 29/01/2024 05:54

Even beaches with no dogs sign on them are full of dogs. The rules don’t apply to their dogs. I go to dog free beaches and there is always a dog on it at some point.

cuckyplunt · 29/01/2024 05:54

Would you want to be put on a leash every time you left the house?

cuckyplunt · 29/01/2024 05:54

i wouldn’t want to be kept as a pet, it’s not dissimilar from being kept in a zoo. Is it something that should be stopped?

Hoglet70 · 29/01/2024 05:57

I was on the beach all weekend with my dog and I did not see one single abandoned dog poo (bagged or not bagged) and although my dog made friends with other off the lead dogs (this is quite acceptable, children often speak to other children in the wild too) none of these off the lead dogs tried to eat me or pinch my sandwiches or savage my dog. I do appreciate that some dogs can be a nuisance but so can kids and it really annoys me when people let their kids annoy me when I'm minding my own business. I wouldn't let my dog annoy someone.

bofski14 · 29/01/2024 06:06

I can't stand dogs and as a severe dog allergy sufferer, the world is becoming more and more closed off to me as everywhere seems to be becoming "doggy friendly". Cafes, shops, pubs, tea rooms. I have had to leave mid way through my meal more than once as someone has come in with a dog. Even in Primark cafe. "Emotional support" animal trumps actual allergy sufferers apparently. Besides allergies, all dogs should be leashed and muzzled in public. At the end of the day, you can try to humanise them but they are animals and often face height to toddlers.

Agree. Especially the "I like dogs more than humans" suggests those people don't really have any social skills so not surprising that their dogs don't either

YeOldeGreyhound · 29/01/2024 00:51

YABU for going to a dog friendly beach and moaning that dogs are there.

She’s not moaning that the dogs are there, she is protesting that so many of the dogs are badly trained and so many owners negligent of their poo management etc.

Tigandgab · 29/01/2024 06:19

Agree completely OP. Hate dogs, there are far too many of them around these days. And ignore the ridiculous people saying you should avoid them by not going to a dog friendly beach! Dogs should be banned from beaches all year round i reckon. Also from shops, pubs and restaurants. Actually, if i was in charge I'd ban all but working dogs altogether. Horrible hairy smelly sloberry things.

ManchesterBea · 29/01/2024 06:23

Where an earth do you live?

ManchesterBea · 29/01/2024 06:24

Out of interest, if you hate dogs, why did you go to a beach that is a "magnet for dogs"?

🤣 This.

People should be able to go to beaches. Dog ownership is an environmental disaster now as well. Poo bags in every scenic spot or hanging from trees like a celebration of the earth’s destruction.

MikeRafone · 29/01/2024 06:33

@Itsnotmypartybutiwannacry

I’ve yet to find a beach that isn’t a magnet to dog owners, can you enlighten us all as to where they are?

HoppingPavlova · 29/01/2024 06:36

I don’t hate dogs. I love them. Used to have them until ones got old and died and not ‘replaced’ as at that point young kids, long hours in jobs, stretched at both ends, no capacity basically - in last years terrible arthritis, epilepsy set off by excitement etc and vets recommended no walks as very large backyard was enough.

But something has happened to owners over the years and now they are a different ‘breed’. I now hate most dog owners. They pretend their dogs are children and are badly behaved and entitled (owners, which is why dogs behaviour follows suit). When my kids were young the number of times my kids and myself were yelled at for not accepting a strange dog bounding up and jumping on kids was unbelievable. Seemingly, a kid should not freak out and scream but should enjoy it and pat the dog happily. I told them to fuck off with dog patting instructions. Then it’s my kids fault and my fault said kid has ASD and can’t cope with Fido doing this, it’s not the dogs fault - well, that I agree with, it’s your fault you fuckwit. I did point out I only ever took my kids to either no dog, or dog on leash areas yet your dog is here (and not meant to be), or off leash (not meant to be) or has leash trailing on ground not in your hand with you nowhere to be seen until screaming starts. Nope, never their fault. I stand by my assessment the majority of dog owners these days are complete and utter cunts and I may well have vocalised that on many occasions. PS my kids knew never to utter that word themselves and never did.

Agree. It's so disgusting watching them pissing and shitting everywhere. Even if the shit is picked up, there's still residue. It's beyond disgusting 🤮

DancefloorAcrobatics · 29/01/2024 06:43

I'd be concerned about OP'S DD playing in the sand for hours on a cold wet & windy day.

There is no excuse for dog shit being left.

If you cannot control your dog off lead don't let it off lead. My dog has dreadful recall so isn't off lead in public.

It really isn't dogs but crappy owners OP that are the problem.

This.

However, the responses you are getting show exactly WHY these things happen so regularly.

Because of the high number of defensive entitled dog owners.

Also entirely agree with you about the weak baby voice of those who can’t control or recall their dog.

And I like dogs. But I don’t anti social people who can’t control their dogs, and don’t even seem to understand that they should.
