If you wear jeans almost every day, how often do you wash them?

I've just bought a new pair of jeans, and the instructions advise hanging them out on the line to freshen them up and avoid washing them if possible, to preserve their colour.

You'd think in this day and age that someone would have invented colour-fast dye for jeans!

I wear jeans every day. Reckon I change them maybe every 5 days or so. I re-dye them after about 6 months (easy-peasy, just use one of those pods that go in the machine with them) and then replace them after a year.

You only keep a pair of jeans for a year?

Theoldwoman · 14/01/2024 20:24

I wash after a days wear.

When they fail the sniff test

A pair of mine took two years to start to wear a small hole on the thigh seam and I wore them everyday for months in the summer. I rotate them with some others now but they are still good. I don't know why you would replace jeans after a year! People buy them new faded and with holes.

OK Prince Andrew!
Fact is everyone's vulva and arse crack does sweat. Everyone has some discharge at least a few days a month and if not should probably get that checked.

I would advise those who wear them for 3 or so days to sniff the crotch area. Just because it's not so extreme others can smell it doesn't mean you are magical 🤣

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/01/2024 20:58

On average probably every 3 or 4 wears. They get all stretched and saggy otherwise and do need to be freshened up then anyway.

Why would I do that? If you can't smell anything unless your nose is against crotch fabric then why would it matter?

CrushingOnRubies · 14/01/2024 21:27

Probably about 5-7 wears. But depends if they get dirt quicker or if I'm going out somewhere nice and it's day 4 I'll put a clean pair on and have two on the go in tandem

I agree about the cooking smells @108Anj.
If I'm making a curry or frying onions etc then I would put the clothes I am wearing in the wash.

This is a really good point. It's not just smelly arses and fishy Fanny's. Someone I knows house isn't the cleanest, lots of animals. When she gets in my car she smells like a farm but I know her clothes were clean with lots of fragrance and she as a person doesn't smell at all. She wears a few times before rewashing any clothes but they smell of her surroundings after one wear.

After about 3 or 4 wears was the normal growing up. I don't wear them these days

Deadringer · 16/01/2024 21:31

I used to get a week or two out of proper jeans when I was younger, as an old gimmer in jeggings 2 or 3 days is my limit before I start to feel grimy.
