Weird things that make you cringe

Do you have any odd things that make you cringe?

I find the sound of water being poured into a jug or glass really cringe.. it’s so odd. Water coming out of a tap is fine, but it’s that gluggy noise. My daughter had a relaxing video on YouTube today and it had a stream with some twinkly music over the top.. the bloody stream going over a rock was making a similar gluggy noise and making me cringe 🤣.

Anyone else have anything similar and ridiculous?!

Large sea creatures, most specifically whales, I can't even look at them.

MrsNandortheRelentless · 13/01/2024 23:20

Sloths.

Giggorata · 13/01/2024 23:22

Yes to jazz, it makes me tense and frown.

Anyone blowing a raspberry gives me a horrible sensation right in the middle of my forehead, can't bear it.

Mystro202 · 13/01/2024 23:25

I hate the look of waffles. They absolutely give me the hebeejeebies 🤢 I think it's because they remind me of beehives. Also shellfish. Omg I hate the look of them especially when they are still stuck onto whatever they stick on to. I once dreamt that I had some stuck to my face. Omg yuk 🤮

dothehokeycokey · 13/01/2024 23:27

Dh licking his yogurt pot lid Blush

Dd bashing her cutlery on her teeth every time she puts it in her mouth

Hearing people clean their teeth sets mine on edge

Slurping and gulping

The dog insessantly licking her legs or feet

Look up trypophobia… fear of holes or seeds clustered

Oh I know I'm not going to like that! The other thing that I was going to put was melon seeds. I hate scooping them out. Urghhh.

VaddaABeetch · 13/01/2024 23:30

Musicals. I hate when they go from talking & break into song. It makes me horribly embarrassed for them.

Readingthedictionary · 13/01/2024 23:30

Cotton wool, if you twisted it, that noise.
Polystyrene, the screech noise. Shudder.
Wringing out cloths.
Anything in between my toes, flip flops for example.
Blowing up balloons or even touching the rubber.
Not having anything to dry my hands on and having slightly wet hands.

Omg thank you. I definitely have this and it must be where my dislike for waffles come in. That is horrific stuff 🤢

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 13/01/2024 23:30

I hate the feeling of velvet. It goes through me. No idea why.

AzureBlue99 · 13/01/2024 23:30

Washing that goes hard on the line.

Butter

Water gouging or sloshing

Loud typing on a laptop

Noisy eating

I have misophonia. There is also a touch version and I have a bit of that too. Watching people put on moisturiser or foundation ,Ames me feel queasy.

eblue · 13/01/2024 23:36

The feel of dried toothpaste on skin. Awful!

XenoBitch · 13/01/2024 23:38

Being at the seaside, and seeing a cruise ship in the distance. It makes me feel so uneasy.

MoonWoman69 · 13/01/2024 23:39

I was triggered with one of mine yesterday! Went for a carvery, the server took ages carving my meat - with a metal knife on a metal base with spikes... Ugh, I wanted to stab him! Have never liked the sound of metal on metal even as a kid, when I was dragged to the butchers and he used to sharpen his knife on the long sharpener!
The ribbed edge of pound coins
Metal nail files
The horrible textured vinyl on the ring binders we had at school in the 80's
The other part of flock wallpaper, not the flock bit, the bit in between
Hovercraft, massive cringe as a kid, even though I'd only seen them on TV, they gave me the heebie jeebies
And submarines! Just the thought of them lurking under the sea gives me the shivers! Ugh!
God I have issues!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh god yes. Thought that was just me. I have to immediately wet the cloth or I will claw my skin off or heave.
I do find these reactions fascinating though. Isn’t it weird?

I have worked out that even touching microfibre cloths result in me having an eczema like reaction on my hands and all my skin cracks!

My husband licking the lid of his yoghurt pot.

should be outlawed

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/01/2024 23:54

Someone talking with a toothpick in their mouth , especially when the shift iy about . I;m fine seeing a cigarette , just not a toothpick .

Those creatures that live so deep in the sea they have no eyes and no colouring because it is so pitch dark .

DappledThings · 13/01/2024 23:56

Flip-flops. They bit between your toes. The very idea of it makes me feel all strange. Could never wear them myself and seeing others in them makes me feel a but funny.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/01/2024 23:57

Jolly Christmas songs played really slowly and drawly .
It's a horror film scene just waiting to happen !

Legendairy · 13/01/2024 23:58

I agree re the glugging sound when pouring water, same with wine. It makes me feel do uncomfortable.

I also find the whole happy birthday/merry xmas/happy new year thing a bit cringy, it feels a bit fake. I always feel like I fake smile and say it back all a bit OTT 😂

Tootingbec · 13/01/2024 23:58

Yes yes to microfibre cloths. Hate the sensation of the fibres catching on tiny bits of dry skin on my hands 😳

Massive ships like cruise ships or tankers being near land 😵‍💫 Makes me feel uneasy. Don’t mind them out to sea but something about the proximity to land freaks me out

Legendairy · 13/01/2024 23:59

VaddaABeetch · 13/01/2024 23:30

Musicals. I hate when they go from talking & break into song. It makes me horribly embarrassed for them.

I'm the opposite, in fact I wish people dud this in real life 🤣

UsernameChangerRanger · 14/01/2024 00:00

Cyber bullies and people who make nasty comments on social media. I cringe in embarrassment for them because they think they're being edgy and cool yet all they're doing is publicly showing themselves up to be total tossers.

Wictc · 14/01/2024 00:00

Wet material rubbing against each other. So for example trying to rub a stain out from a rug with a cloth.

God I have issues!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I also feel the same about submarines!

And metal nail files, but also the sandpapery ones.
Plus seeing or hearing anyone actually filing their nails (especially sawing back and forth which I see nail techs doing a lot and shouldn't as it weakens the nails)
Needless to say I can't use said nail files myself.
Newspapers
Bricks
Sandpaper
Wool
Acrylic
Salt
Sugar
Soap powder
Shoes without socks (especially trainers)
Being barefoot on hard floors
Putting my phone on a surface and hearing fine grit / dust underneath it.
Sand!!
Many foods
The sight and sound of shaving (have to close my eyes when shaving ads come on the TV)

(I'm Autistic so have a lot of sensory issues)
