2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

Is there any reason you are watching a flight tracker in Madeira 🤔

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/01/2024 23:48

Madeira airport used to be terrifying, wedged between sea and cliff, but I think it has been improved

Many hours can be lost watching planes poodle about the globe on flightradar. Strangely addictive!

Thesearmsofmine · 12/01/2024 23:51

Ohh I love a flightradar thread.

cakeorwine · 12/01/2024 23:53

Looks like Ryanair is having a go.
Weather says thunderstorms at Funchai

I have read somewhere that pilots have to have special training to land planes in Madeira because of the runaway Not sure if it’s true or not but having flown into Funchal I think it might be true 😱

I've heard of it, but never tried it. I'll probably become addicted to it 😂 maybe I'm best not looking into it!

Yes, I have read that somewhere too. It is an interesting landing.

Would hate to get to the airport and then have to return.

Flight radar threads are a thing on Mumsnet for good reason! It's fascinating, and yes, addictive.

Ryanair down!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 00:00

Ryanair is down but the previous one looks like it's on its way back to Portugal

OP posts:
Bunnyjo · 13/01/2024 00:00

Ryanair flight looks like it's safely touched down, but the Air Portugal one has been diverted according to the airport website.

TheMousePipes · 13/01/2024 00:01

Bryanair made it!

BoPeepsSheep · 13/01/2024 00:02

Where is the TAP one going?

TheMousePipes · 13/01/2024 00:03

Back to Lisbon. Disappointing for the poor passengers.

NOTANUM · 13/01/2024 00:04

You’d be annoyed if you’re on a TAP flight that is not landing and Ryanair have. Is it because the former is AirbusA321 and quite big?

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 13/01/2024 00:05

TheMousePipes · 13/01/2024 00:01

Bryanair made it!

Makes me think of Rhod Gilbert 😂

Scaleyflagpole · 13/01/2024 00:07

It can be luck - Ryanair air caught a little weather gap that the other flights didn't. Most pilots won't attempt a 3rd so after 2 you're resigned to a divert.

How can you see which is 'most watched" @cakeorwine ?

It normally has it on the screen on the web version

Often it's some obscure military flight

On the app pull down from the search bar/the line just under it.
