Again people are engaging on the topic no one is forced to.

If it’s not of interest feel free to discuss other topics

No proposal to check I prefer the EqA option

So for instance there would under what you suggest be nothing to stop men going into female toilets or women going into male toilets.

EasternStandard · 07/01/2024 19:26

All the posts before yours were something else as I assume pp wanted to post that

You can obviously post on what you want

Something Sunak was working hard on this morning in his TV appearance I gather. Quite inspirational by all accounts.

I thought I was posting on a thread about getting the Tories out, as is stated in the op. Is it something else @EasternStandard ?

The shortlist of Tory candidates for the Wellingborough by-election suggests they are trying to get themselves out to me.

Although polling suggests they may not have to work too hard.

It’s a continuation of the last one and some posters are still discussing that topic

You do you though

Most people are law abiding and the social contract has generally worked pre GRA

The law fosters male challenge currently and year on year it becomes more evident

It was hard to say 😬

Would you like women to be effective but get the law changed another way other than a vote?

Or no vote and no change at all

What do you mean by "women being effective"?

It isn't really about what I want. My post is basically that I think it unlikely it will be part of any party manifesto due to how divisive it is.

Getting the law changed other than a vote - in order to comment about that I would need educating on how exactly the law is changed.

It isn't about no vote and no change. My point has been that it isn't going to be relevant to a general election, beyond debate and speculation as to which party will do what, and how much change they will bring with respect to this one issue.

So I take this to mean you’d like the law changed without a manifesto policy on that?

Now, about these Tories, they need to go would you not agree?

The topic is getting the Tories out

It is partly my bad. I am trying to practice what I preach by engaging on this one issue, in the hope that they will engage on other things as well.
However, I have stated a lot of things in other posts about getting the Tories out. Not many people respond to things I have said though.

I think lots of people do care, I certainly do and was extremely happy to see labour putting it front and centre of policy.

Yeah i guess i'm disappointed that keeping a trans woman out of a toilet, is considered far far more important than preventing 3 women a week being murdered.

Thankfully Jess Phillips and Karen Ingala Smith are keeping the topic current in Parliament and in the Labour Party.

If keeping the Tories out increases womens safety then i'm all for it.

The original OP covered a few things inc Gender, its not the only toy in the shop.

I agree. I have even posted a recent article about how Labour are leaning towards a pro-women stance on the gender debate. That has gone uncommented on by those who consider this the topic of priority.

At a time when some parts of the country are struggling with flooding, the Prime Minister is pressing ahead with a Bill this week to increase climate change.
Many in this country, including I would suggest including many Tories in Shire counties would like to leave the country and the world a better place for their children and grandchildren, so it seems odd that the Prime Minister when so far behind in the polls is putting himself so clearly on the wrong side of history.

Lets hope Reform and Tice refuse to do a deal, on that polling, with no Reform, the Tories could get back in & that be lost on Sunak.

There is a danger one might start to think that the important thing is keeping the Tories in.

It’s not just ‘toilets’ as in another post though

Frankly, I am more interested in lifting children out of poverty. It is disgusting how many children in thsi country live in poverty. Our 5 year olds have shrunk FFS. In one of the richest economies in the world Our young people are some of the unhappiest in the developed world.

I am also interested in our dropping life expectancy and other consequences of Tory austerity.

The damage this party has done to vulnerable groups is huge.

But think of the success there has been in ensuring that those who have more money than anyone could need for their lifetime have got richer.

So I take this to mean you’d like the law changed without a manifesto policy on that?

I'd prefer there wasn't a manifesto that leans to one extreme or the other on the gender debate, because it will either disadvantage women, or it will disadvantage trans people. I really haven't thought about the exact laws I'd like changed, because it is such a complex topic. But what I want has nothing to do with what is likely to happen. And all of that is besides the point though, because I actually don't know how the law is changed with respects to these matters.

jasflowers · 07/01/2024 19:44

Unless you define "single sex spaces" then Toilets is indeed what is being talked about and was extensively on the last thread.

What single sex space is more important than a women life?

On climate, Tory Chris Skidmore has stepped down as a MP in disgust at the gas and oil licences.

Not all bad then.
