Happy New Year!

I'm still off work and getting bored. Looking for some good threads to waste a morning diving into.

What threads have stuck with you since you read them on here? Any with particular good advice? Funny or just plain scandalous also welcomed!

Snapped and farted still makes me chuckle.

I think about the pregnant woman who was selling up in secret to move back to Australia before the baby was born.

I hope she made it ok & everything is working out for her.

I wonder about the poor lady who found out her husband was having an affair with her friends sister. The friend had said she'd seen him with someone as she didn't want to be disloyal to her sister, but then eventually told her.

I think the last update was that he had lied to the school and taken the son and was refusing access. Ive never seen another update so I hope she is OK now!

I have seen an update from this thread from the Op albeit it was months ago. She had the care of her son back and her husband was living with the OW

Ahh thank you , it's been just over 4 years and I'm doing really well . Only thanks to the support received on here though. That journey, yes even stoping on the way to buy a red toothbrush, was the longest drive ever.
I'm settled now , still occasionally have nightmares but am living a very quiet normal life on my own . Mumsnet certainly saved my life with the encouragement, and that's not an exaggeration.

LittleRedToothbrush, was that your name then? I remember your post as it was not long after my marriage broke down and I was really rooting for you. Thank you for the update and I am so glad to hear you are doing well.

A very brave woman called 'FluffyDressinggown' on the mental health boards, who was constantly hospitalised for brutal self harm. She was very funny and not at all self pitying but she couldn't stop.

One day her partner came onto the thread and said that an act of self-harm while in hospital had killed her.

I was on that board a lot at the time because I was in crisis point with bipolar and her death shocked me and saddened me so much. I still think about the waste often and feel very upset that she has do so much potential but that I the end it couldn't save her

Crikeyalmighty · 06/01/2024 00:44

@exttf me too- desparately sad but really stayed with me -

Legendairy · 06/01/2024 00:55

I believe the poster was called something like clutchingpearls but her toddler was very seriously ill with chicken pox and ended up with serious long time effects from it. I always think of them when there are people on here wanting to take their DC put whe infectious just because they are bored of staying home.

Another poster called jennywren or a variation of that who had terminal cancer and was only in her 20s. She was very ill then just stopped posting. I often think of her.

Anyone else remember and wonder about 'red toothbrush'?
If you know, you know!

StrawberryJellyBelly · 06/01/2024 01:24

@noodlezoodle - Onit posted something recently regarding her partners employment and all is well.

Think it was an Australian poster whose son was in a relationship with an unstable young lady of a similar age.

@DomPom47 I'm thinking that might be my son, ( unless there is another poor Australian boy with the same problem , I really hope not) You will be happy to know he has finally got away from her completely. It took 9 years!! He is 26yo now working hard and doing well.

coxesorangepippin · 06/01/2024 01:44

One on here only a week of two ago about the BIL'S family in America, and how their children would have to move to the UK as their parents were dying? But their aunt was also dying too?

I think it was a troll

Oh good, I'm very glad to hear that!

Cupofteaplease will always be in my thoughts after following her posts about her lovely daughter Beatrice’s short life. I have never forgotten her posts (or private messages) and always wonder how she and her family are doing.

Shinypenguin’s (IIRC) live post about her ‘date’ at the zoo was the first posts that made me laugh out loud and wake DH up. I often wonder about her.

I think about the poster who had mumsnetters helping to clean her house. I may be mixing up posters, but I think I recall her DH died and mumsnetters came to the rescue again when things got too much.

I also remember Riven and seem to recall she had a name change fail which outed her to the papers. I think back in the early days if you changed your username it would change it on previous posts too, so all previous posts could be linked making it very outing. There were lots of threads titled name change check!

I often wonder what happened to Mumsnet royalty? It was like being back in school where the popular girls ruled and feuds were rife. Anyone remember the Mumsnet bat or scarf?

At the moment I am thinking about the poster who may have been eaten by crows.

ThirtyTwoGoingUnder · 06/01/2024 03:39

Oh god yeah, I remember that one! Wonder what happened with the stags / hens / wedding!

littlebopeepp234 · 06/01/2024 07:06

The one not so long ago where the op’s DH was out in the garden in the rain ‘mowing the grass’ and was seen crying by their ds while talking to neighbour over the fence. He then refused to tell op what was wrong and disappeared into the car.

So many people were saying it was an affair between the neighbour and op’s DH. Others posters were then arguing that people were being ridiculous saying it was an affair and trying to say it’s normal to be going out mowing the garden in the rain.

It then transpired that the op’s DH had been seeing the neighbour’s young 18 year old relative. I don’t think we ever got an update as to what happened with that one.

dontgobaconmyheart · 06/01/2024 07:44

The honest answer is absolutely none of them.

I do think people need to take what they read on here with a pinch of salt a lot of the time.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 06/01/2024 09:13

"Apparently I'm dead"

The OP posted about a rumour that started that she'd died. It had been started by someone who wanted OPs husband. The husband had been in an accident as a baby/toddler and had lost his foot.

Thinking about it now - was that a troll? It was a few years who now and I was fairly new.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 06/01/2024 09:17

@honeysuckleweeks

I don't think it's you re the Australian son. The poster was called something like WerkWerkWerk. It was in 2021 or 2022 that she was posting and it went on for about five threads.

I remember this one too. It was her teenage son and the girlfriend threaten self harm and her parents were worse than useless. I hope her son got away eventually.

Oh NO So there's another one. Mine was the one who threw fried rice around my car, refused to get dressed , vandalised my sons stuff, regularly called the police, threatened suicide, I could go on. I don't know why but the fried rice really pissed me off as it was my car and I was picking it out of the vents for weeks.

LadyEloise1 · 06/01/2024 09:58

I too loved the Protestant tray bakes thread and made one from a recipe on the thread.
I was decidedly underwhelmed by the traybake I bought in a garage forecourt shop when up in Northern Ireland- the traybake equivalent of petrol station shop flowers I suppose.

I mentioned the wedding thread earlier but couldn't remember the name of it, thank you @TheSandgroper.

So ChopinandChampagne and LobsterBoy was a work of fiction ?
You say you met her.
She had a very particular style of writing seen throughout all of the threads.
Tattle said it was written by two women.

TheSandgroper · 06/01/2024 10:53

@LadyEloise1 Lovely ChopinandChampagne and Lobster Boy are not figments of my imagination. I have a photo in one of the latter threads. She may have a particular way to her writing but character mixed with an education will do that. Ask any writer.

BattyOwl · 06/01/2024 11:11

@Cakewineorgin how kind of you to think of me 🐧

I'm not too tricky to track down tbh. Been married a decade now. Surprisingly not to the bloke that me and the amazing @tigerdrivesagain stood up
