@derxa if her constituents don’t like her I guess they’ll vote her out. She plays no part in decision making in the LP so I doubt those views will have any weight.

I guess you’re right but why are there so many MPs in all parties who believe that we can change sex. If they believe this rubbish, how can we trust them on anything. It won’t be an election issue but it should be.

EffieeBriest · 06/01/2024 12:09

@derxa I think there are more pressing issues tbh. Only have to walk into my local town and see the horrendous decline. Homeless, beggars at every corner. It’s like a scene from 1970s Soviet Union.

Cornettoninja · 06/01/2024 12:10

I’m quite pleased that the trans issue isn’t taking front stage (yet?) in the GE race.

As it stands there are two very vocal sides but this isn’t a black and white issue. Ultimately members of both sides are members of society as are all those who fall somewhere in the middle, I think it requires more delicate navigation than using it as a tool to gain votes would allow.

I live in a major tourist city. It's surprising to see the number of empty shops on the main shopping streets. And the homeless.

Some people have money as there are a lot of restaurants and bars that are full.

But the number of empty shops is depressing.

EffieeBriest · 06/01/2024 12:21

@cakeorwine I live in a large town outside Manchester. I think people would be shocked to see the state of it but it’s certainly not a tourist destination. Last 10 years have seen a huge decline in prosperity. Not solely on the Tories, the mainly Labour council is to blame too but the cuts to funding from central government have been massive and haven’t helped. We’ve got 2 Tory MPs out of 3 now so you’d think things would have improved 😂

Was the gender id issue in invisible ink at the top of that list, @DuncinToffee ?

I have no words for how great this post is. Everyone on both extremes of the issue needs to stop screaming and start talking.

EffieeBriest · 06/01/2024 12:31

It’s worrying that immigration has moved up the list by 7 points. Suggests the coverage propaganda is effective and economy /COL fears are waning when the outlook is so poor.

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2024 12:32

Bloomberg reporting that the Government are loosening up restrictions on local government to enable them to sell off assets.

Might mean a few less have to file for bankruptcy.

BUT obviously this won't fix long term issues with funding and adds the bonus of leaving a heap of problems for the future.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/01/2024 12:53

I saw the Rwanda story last night and it doesn't surprise me. Rwanda was Braverman and Johnson nonsense. I wonder how long it will be before we find out how much they made out of it.

Still, embarrassing for PM Sunak. People in his party really hate him.😬

derxa · 06/01/2024 12:55

No giraffes aren’t gay. Males have dominance rituals which include necking and anal penetration. My rams mount each other and head butt. Then they go out with the ewes and forget about being gay. HTH 😂

Surprised to see social care and an ageing population not on that list.

Maybe people just aren't aware of the social issues of an ageing population?

My take is that a lot on that list ties in to a few categories that would encompass the worst issues in social care and aging population.

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 13:34

Sunak's tax cut (national insurance) tweet has been community noted Hmm

It’s one snapshot. To be expected I guess when Sunak’s put it front and centre. Interesting that housing’s risen even more.

Thank you very much for the additional information. I feel much more knowledgeable now, knowing that giraffes and your rams are not gay, but are in fact bisexual.

@derxa while you are here, can you explain why it is acceptable for the Prime Minister to lie to parliament about his law breaking?

Dawn must have read the same wiki entry as you posted. She has no common sense and is funded to push the trans agenda. As is Angela Eagle.

pointythings · 06/01/2024 14:26

@derxa I don't understand the relevance of the giraffes, but in terms of the trans agenda I refer you back to @AdamRyan 's post a little way back - trans people are part of our society and that's that. Pretending they're all sexual predators who are mentally ill is unhelpful and untrue.

Goodness. I don’t think trans people are predators or mentally ill. Where did you get that idea?

Can I ask a question, im not au fait with all these terms but what does community noted mean wrt twitter? Both literally and colloquially if necessary?

Imagine if you can that a tweet is misleading.
A community note can be added to give context.
Sunak seems to piling them up at the moment. For some reason
