Anyone actually excited about a Keir / Labour govt?

I'm typically a Tory voter (one nation Conservative, just right of centre, nothing radical) and gender critical, so I'm wary of a Labour government. I worry they'll leave the country worse than it is now.

However, I absolutely agree we need a change. Things can't get much worse, can they? Idiots like Boris and Truss have made a mockery of what I understand of the Conservatives - namely economic competence - and I can't vote for them this time. I don't know who I will vote for.

Listening to LBC this evening, I hear a Labour MP talk about how Starmer is offering an "exciting programme" of change and I just don't buy it. Maybe he will he better, maybe he won't, but my real question is is anyone genuinely excited about Labour, or just looking forward to the back of the Tories?

Well it’s in process and consultation currently, but I don’t think people realise how captured institutions are

Kemi Badenoch first had to stop the witch hunt against Falkner

Who will fight those battles from Labour? It’ll need to be someone at the same level

Dodds? I doubt it

I had hopes for Jess Philips but sadly women in the Labour Party have seen how Rosie Duffield has been vilified.

Unless and until the leader of the Labour Party is unequivocal in his support for women's rights independent of all males (even ones with a certificate) it is unlikely that any woman in the LP who cares about her career will step up.

Yes I think Duffield was a cautionary tale for any GC Labour woman

It’ll be very much toe the line or worse Osborne and Butler having a go at GC women

Do we know if the Home Sedator cares whether the women he gives drugs to are GC or not?

What a mess! To me THIS is exactly why women need to speak up about it.

If women in the labour party are effectively silenced how can we have any confidence that our rights will be protected once they are in power?

Good Evening @Clavinova
Do you have any news on why you think it acceptable for the Home Secretary to go around joking about sedating his wife?

I don't think it was acceptable - error of judgment obviously.

But you are comfortable @Clavinova with a Home Secretary who has such serious lapses of judgement, that he would suggest using a date rape drug on his wife?

I think looking at the way people are treated if they don’t toe the gender line, we can’t

I don’t know what people can do. Keep speaking up I suppose but losing more sex based rights will take ages to get back.

suggestionsplease1 · 05/01/2024 22:24

So I just wanted to clarify; I have provided internationally respected evidence, through the Global Gender Gap Report, that the top 4 countries in the world also have policies of gender self-ID, and this has not adversely impacted their status as world leaders for women's parity with men on health, economic, education and political attainment.

I'm looking for similarly impressive, robust and reliable evidence that challenges this picture.

Can we perhaps have it now please?

It won't be if Labour get into power.

Yes I have written to my conservative MP about this, she responded. I have also written to the leader of the Labour Party who declined to do so.

That will be because you’re not his constituent and he has no obligation to reply to you. Just in case you hadn’t noticed we have a representative democracy.

I understand that he is not obliged to respond to non constituents. I don't think labour rejecting feminists as party members is particularly great for a 'representative democracy', do you?

Why I was rejected for Labour Party membership and my response

Three months after applying to (re)join the Labour Party, my application was rejected. Another three months later, they told me why.

As the Leader of the Labour Party, and the alternative Prime Minister, who is seeking to lead the nation as Prime Minister, he is accountable to all voters who elects his party to govern.

But then PM Sunak doesn't know what a woman is. Like he really has no idea.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/rishi-sunak-transgender-penis-b2319675.html

He'll say whatever. He's weak as fuck, has all the integrity of a paper straw and will say whatever he's told. The fact that he actually said that women were whatever BJ said shows when asked for a definition of the word woman demonstrates he doesn't give a fuck.

alltootired · 05/01/2024 22:47

Absolute rubbish.
He is a centrist.
Rishi Sunak is incredibly weak though.

alltootired · 05/01/2024 22:48

Starmer did not say that about BJ. He said a woman is an adult human female. Stop lying.

Doesn't really matter what Clav thinks. The real question is why did the Home Secretary think it was OK to "joke" about drugging his wife.

The answer is he belongs to a party so steeped in rape culture that they find that shit funny. Of course he might not be "joking" at all. I remember Saville, Brand and others making similar "jokes". We don't know the identity of the multiple rapist MP in the Tory government yet.Hmm

It probably helps to quote whomever this is aimed at

But Starmer is still including males with a GRC in that definition
