Words you cannot bear to read or speak or hear

I cannot bear to read or speak or hear some food related words. It is difficult for me to write them as I feel so ick about them but here goes:

Tasty
Delicious
Sweet treats (or just treats)
Snack
Yum
Nom
That slurpy face emoji (I refuse to put it here)

Uuuuuuurgh I feel ill now

What is wrong with me? Anyone else or am I a massive weirdo?

Moist.

Mittens1717 · 03/01/2024 11:08

Nom is the worst, I have a friend who puts pics up of her food on Facebook with the caption nom nom nom, seriously why would you?!

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 03/01/2024 11:08

I dislike all but the first two.

Food-wise - since all of yours are about food - one of the worst IMO is ‘picky’, as in picky meal, picky bits. ‘Picky eater’ is ok.

TroysMammy · 03/01/2024 11:08

I can't even bear to write it, an infantile word for stomach.

SagaNorensPorche · 03/01/2024 11:09

Discombobulated. It's rarely used correctly and I cringe when I see/hear it.

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 11:09

Oh dear I'm not sure I can even read this thread!!! @TroysMammy does it rhyme with 'bummy'?

Same! Especially when used by grown men

letmechange · 03/01/2024 11:12

Not many, but I hate

Cheeseboard

Christmas is a real flashpoint for this 😂

Couchant · 03/01/2024 11:12

Some women’s twee euphemisms for their genitals are wildly irritating.

See also ‘fell pregnant’ or ‘come on’ (for having a period).

’All the trimmings’ is probably my least favourite expression of all time.

Prodel · 03/01/2024 11:13

Not a word but when people add "Just a thought" as an extra sentence at the end of something, trying to be smug.

WaitingfortheTardis · 03/01/2024 11:13

Naice
Slurp
Denim
Panties

Summonedbybees · 03/01/2024 11:13

MagpiePi · 03/01/2024 11:14

Snuggle
Pinkie for little finger

Yes!

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 11:14

Oh can I add (not food related) but when people explain things beginning with 'In my head, the thing is this...' we are all in our own heads aren't we?

"Count my pennies"

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 11:15

@WaitingfortheTardis sorry, denim?

OP posts:
TheTecknician · 03/01/2024 11:15

People mispronouncing 'amateur'. The third syllable is 't', not 'ch'.

feathermucker · 03/01/2024 11:15

Splurge. No idea why, but I cannot bear it.

Holibobs.

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 11:16

@letmechange PENNIES yes that too. 'Can you send pennies to this account' for teacher present etc

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 03/01/2024 11:17

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/01/2024 11:17
