Words you cannot bear to read or speak or hear

I cannot bear to read or speak or hear some food related words. It is difficult for me to write them as I feel so ick about them but here goes:

Tasty
Delicious
Sweet treats (or just treats)
Snack
Yum
Nom
That slurpy face emoji (I refuse to put it here)

Uuuuuuurgh I feel ill now

What is wrong with me? Anyone else or am I a massive weirdo?

Hate when people on this app are describing their quiet morning with the 'fridge humming away' it enrages me and I have no idea why 🤣

Anyfeckinusername · 03/01/2024 12:11

"Add a red lip"

I can't bear this. It makes me visualise sets of lips floating, always thin and too bright.

Add whatever lipSTICK.

Palomabalom · 03/01/2024 12:12

@donteatthedaisies0 i can’t stop laughing at this! So funny 😆

Blart is kind of brilliant — does it imply messy, snotty bawling, or could you ‘blart’ decorously into a lace-trimmed hanky?

Oh no you definitely couldn't blart decorously, snotty bawling is more like it. It's not even the image it conjures for me, just something about the word itself.

Cringe as in 'that's so cringe' makes me cringe. 'That's so cringeworthy' is better.
(Or, as I say, 'that makes me cringe.')
Similarly, 'that's so fun,' sounds less than correct but I realise that it's common these days. 'That's so much fun,' is so much better!

The cringe thing I used to, er, cringe at too. But I've accepted it's just changing use of language now. I sound like an old fogey when I try to insist to young people that it's cringworthy. They laugh and say "but no-one says that anymore!"

Slacks! Not heard that in ages. Makes me think of beige polyester

I quite like ‘slacks’, in a jokey meaning. It’s a useful way of describing the sort of his ‘n hers trousers advertised in the back of the Daily Telegraph.

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 11:16

@letmechange PENNIES yes that too. 'Can you send pennies to this account' for teacher present etc

Skint !
I have no idea why but I hate hearing that too .

Gives me the creeps .

TedandRebecca4eva · 03/01/2024 12:15

Little man for son
People on here that say "I luffs it" 😫🤬🤬🤬

Stresa22 · 03/01/2024 12:15

Yes! Beige or brown and definitely polyester with an elasticated waist.

Fashion-speak is all like that.

’A red lip’
’An edgy sandle’
’A pop of colour’

It’s all shite.

FelonyMelony · 03/01/2024 12:17

Not read the whole thread but had to agree 100% with ‘little man’
BF and his DD call his DS this, and I absolutely HATE it - they even signed my Christmas card / presents from X, X and ‘little man’ 🤢
Just use his (perfectly good) name, FFS!

Vettrianofan · 03/01/2024 12:17

Fud

Palomabalom · 03/01/2024 12:18

I don’t like fashion words like “ red lip” or “ team up with a nude shoe “. So embarrassing 🙈 also don’t like smorgasbord. Find “ to the moon and back “ cringey and also facebook Posts on kid’s birthday when parents start it with “ and just like that…” seems so self indulgent

Oh yes! Awful!

NewYearGnome · 03/01/2024 12:18

Another vote for panties - yuk

bubs for baby (but babby is normal where I’m from - West Midlands)

hubs, hubster

scrotum - get a hideous mental picture when I hear it

The swear word c* absolutely cannot bear it😱

Any unpleasant word to describe vagina… gash, slit etc … vile

WolfFoxHare · 03/01/2024 12:18

Yes to those two words. Awful. I hate them. I hated it in 2022 when people talking about the Platinum Jubilee called it the Platty Jubes. Made me feel stabby.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2024 12:19

Sliver

Scrotum, yuk worst word ever .

😂😂 Agree

Palomabalom · 03/01/2024 12:21

Oh forgot someone mentioned platty jubes? I’ve also heard cozzy livs for the cost of living crisis as well as “ menty B for mental breakdown. Who the hell wants to give twee pet names for such horrible things

Prodel · 03/01/2024 12:21

Baby posts on social media "8 weeks of loving you"

OldRanter · 03/01/2024 12:23

queenofthewild · 03/01/2024 12:25

"Rant over"

A full stop at the end of your sentence is sufficient thanks.
