Frank Turner has a cat called Boudiccat which is pretty fab.

I’ve had a hamster called Cat Food (as a gentle reminder to DD to take care) and a Rabbit called Arfer ( R fer Rabbit)

Smeagol, for a Beagle.

wasanneofcleves · 03/01/2024 20:00

I once knew a cat called Ian. They were Polish so I don't think it was ironic, which made it even better.

Sidge · 03/01/2024 20:17

My friend had 2 cats called Gail and Louise. Was supposed to be Thelma and Louise but we decided Thelma looked like Gail Tilsley from Coronation Street as she had a little triangular face.

My childhood friend had a black lab called Crawford as he was crackers.

Sportycustard · 03/01/2024 20:28

I used to know a vicar with dogs called Hally and Luyah (need to say them together to get it).

Friends have a chocolate labrador called Bourneville

TedWilson · 03/01/2024 22:59

I was Googling unusual cat names when we got our new cat and found one called Princess Monstertruck!

kwetu · 03/01/2024 23:00

A dog called woof, was hilarious hearing him being called from across the field

Oh and another one! Two separate dogs I met on the same day in the same town. One was Goose and the other was Maverick! I hope they bumped into each other round the shops.

Ours are Goose and Mitch, Maverick’s ‘real name’ is Pete Mitchell. Everyone assumes Mitch is called Maverick, but we prefer single syllables, easier for recall and Maverick is a mouthful. A previous dog was Brigante, after Carlito Brigante, an Al Pacino character in the film of the same name, always shortened to Brig.

ThePoshUns · 03/01/2024 23:23

I used to work with someone who had a pair of Rottweilers named Monkey and Drum

AnnieSnap · 03/01/2024 23:27

I have met dogs called Dave and Brian. Both brilliant dog names IMO. I have dogs called Colin, Geoffrey and less interesting Flora. I also have chickens, one of whom is called Rock Chick because she is all black with a tuft of feathers on her head 😮

But not German Bite?

Ha! There may well have been! I think there was a Shannon too. Mind you, I think I'd draw the line at German Bite - not sure I'd fancy shouting that across the park!

Mossstitch · 03/01/2024 23:49

Chickens called Sage & Onion.

margotrose · 03/01/2024 23:54

I have a cat called Purrlock.

When I was at school someone I knew had a pig called Sage 😂

A Cat called 'Dangerous Brian'.

Best yet.

Agapornis · 04/01/2024 01:52

I know a Cat Stevens. I call him Yusuf when the owner isn't around.

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 04/01/2024 02:07

My friend has a tortoise called Voldetort, but was too embarrassed to say it at the vets. So she panicked and said he was called Laura 🤣

I have a cat called Cleocatra but I guess that's fairly common. (Known as Cleo to the vet!)

acatcalledjohn · 04/01/2024 02:14

A rabbit called David Hasselhop.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2024 02:32

But not German Bite?

I occasionally called my dog that.
He was really Max Plan(c)k, a most constant hound.
(Sausage dog, obviously)

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2024 02:40
