I’ve seen your other posts op, you’ve done a great job!

educatingrati · 02/01/2024 19:16

I really like itXmas Blush looks very sumptuous and warm underfoot. I like the colouring too, fits with the wall paper.

Favouritefruits · 02/01/2024 19:17

It just needs to settle, it’s a bit wavy with being rolled up.

It looks much better in the second picture , I think you need to stop worrying about cleaning under it and put it under the settee . I’ve lurked on your other threads and you are doing a great job , probably time to change the username .

educatingrati · 02/01/2024 19:18

And your dog is well camouflaged....what a lovely looking hound.
Just realised my previous post sounds sarcastic, it's not, I like the rug, and the wall paper. It gives the room a lovely homely feel.

Thank you. I will think about putting it under the sofa . I'm not even sure if I want to keep it.

Looks so much better smaller! I would def keep it down if you like the colour scheme and get adult child to help get it under sofa, you don't need to clean rugs under sofas, same as if it were carpet, it's not a regular thing like wood floors which need regular dusting, so you'll probably find less dog hair gets under the sofas now with the rug down! The other end of your room looks a bit bland now in comparison, maybe think about some complementary decs down that other end?

xyz111 · 02/01/2024 19:25

It is massive Op. I would go for something smaller. Not keen on the colour either. Sorry!

namechange1986 · 02/01/2024 19:27

Well done! I know how hard it can be to get the mess sorted. Flowers It's looking good.

Some people are just utter arseholes. It's fine to dislike something but why make nasty, bitchy, snide comments? No need at all.

You might not like the OP's decor but no need to be cunts.

Newuser75 · 02/01/2024 19:44

I think now it's turned round it looks better.
Maybe just give it some time and see if you get used to it?
The sofa and wallpaper look fine so don't listen to things about that.

Love the wallpaper
Love the dog
Love the settee
Love the patio - fab bright space

Stick rug under settee
Still waiting for you to change that user name

Newuser75 · 02/01/2024 20:03

@Shithole101 good. You don't need to.

Meadowflower2023 · 02/01/2024 20:10

OP you've done great, you're making the effort to get it how you like it, that's what matters. I think once the rug is placed under the sofas (as per your second folded pics) you'll feel better about it, just give it a few days. It's new, it's big and it's bold so it's bound to feel odd while you get used to it.

Agree with PP, a few larger plants will help and I know it feels like it's all lay out, lay out, lay out while you're on your glow up journey but a few ochre/mustard/teal cushions and a nice throw on the sofa will make a huge difference and tie in with the curtains.

Don't stop now, your room is almost finished! Good on you!

Gorgeous doggo BTW!

💐

My user name has a flexible meaning to it. Sometimes is says omg your a shit heap sort it out you should be ashamed.

Other times it says yes its a bit of a shithole but let's make it a challenge to get it all sorted.

Thank you It's not everyone's taste. I don't really feel its great. But it's not overly bad either. Definitely not bad enough to start again.

🧐
okay….

  • Rug size The rug colour is fine with the wallpaper but the wrong size. Also needs to be hoovered so weave lays correctly.
  • Floor tone is slightly jarring with everything else as grey toned
  • Plain rugs you need something to anchor them. Your rug is a vast expanse with nothing to break it up. A Coffee table or console an armchair or chaise lounge overlapping the rug etc
  • top marks for the dog 🐕 😍
  • the sofa isn’t my jam but clearly it’s staying and sort of goes with the rug and wallpaper so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't really like throws and cushions to be honest. I know that seens odd to most
But they will just keep getting pulled off . Cushions will end up on the floor . Throws will probably end up with dog hair all over lt . It just gives me more work to do which I already struggle with .

Edited

I'm not sure what you mean be the weave being the right way ? Also won't it just go back the moment its walked / laid on?

I moved house recently and have rearranged rooms to get them to look 'right', I found in living room that sitting where I'd usually sit helped get a feel for it and if I liked how it was looking.

buzzingmyhair · 02/01/2024 20:36

nope.

PrimalLass · 02/01/2024 20:40

See the link for how rugs should sit in a room. It needs to be smaller or under the sofa (back and left).

https://www.furniturerow.com/blog/area-rug-dos-and-donts/658

I think this is bollocks though. It just ruins your rug really quickly as it doesn't wear or fade evenly.
