Is it very deep pile?

BasiliskStare · 02/01/2024 15:08

I don't think it is too big but I do think it needs to tuck under the front feet of the sofas . I do thing a coffee table would look better and be useful but up to OP . If it were me I would put a few brighter / softer coloured cushions but it's not me

Ebokebok · 02/01/2024 15:09

It looks like you've spilled tea on It! It's also the wrong colour entirely for the room.

I don't like the size or the colour, sorry.

Olika · 02/01/2024 15:11

It's too big.

NYName · 02/01/2024 15:12

It's too big for the room,
You'll need to push it right under the sofa to make it look a bit better

Shithole101 · 02/01/2024 15:13

I think I'm not going to bother with it. Its the wrong size, wrong colour, wrong texture, I can't get it under the sofa either.

It’s too big. And the very gold colour is extremely dominating (in a room where the wallpaper and sofa are already pretty dominant).

Imamastermind · 02/01/2024 15:15

something like this might have worked better

Rug does not look right?
SwedishEdith · 02/01/2024 15:16

I think you need some cushions and a tall floor plant or lamp. I think the sofa is very dominant and harsh looking so you need to soften that. Agree you need a table or footstool or something to break up the expanse of rug now.

I was going to say colour is wrong imo as well as the size and texture. Texture, pile shag or whatever contrasts too much with the shiny sofa.

Would a more natural fabric cotton or wool, sisal or whatever, be an option in a smaller rug which would tone the overall look down but still add cosiness? In a neitral natural tone. Even maybe an oval shape maybe to minimise geometric look of room doors sofa etc?

Your coffee table could be one of those high ish fabric covered footstool things which can be moved around and are generally great.

BingoMarieHeeler · 02/01/2024 15:18

Wow even your dog matches the colour scheme! That’s dedication! If you like the wallpaper I’d opt for a new sofa personally in a less strong colour.

GalileoHumpkins · 02/01/2024 15:20

It's too big and the colour is jarring against the black sofa and curtains. It matches your dog beautifully though.

forgivingfiggy · 02/01/2024 15:20

It's fine. It just needs some lamps and clutter around. It's currently the biggest thing in the room so it draws the eye.

Imamastermind · 02/01/2024 15:22

What about soft grey (or another soft colour) and maybe oval shape as someone mentioned?
Your black sofa is very dominant so you want to soften the room a bit. Also agree a nice natural fabric footstool you can move around will bring a bit of softness.

I didn't even notice the dog when I first look at the picture. I had to go back and look again.

Lulu1919 · 02/01/2024 15:23

it just looks a bit big to me ..

jobwantednotneeded · 02/01/2024 15:23

It's too big and too small depending on the look you're after

jusmoi · 02/01/2024 15:24

I think it's too big too, it would look better with some space around the edges

Ffs 🤣🤣 regarding the dog. I'm definitely not replacing the sofa. I'm still paying for it. It's less than 6 months old

Honestly? I agree about ditching the wallpaper as with the rug it looks like palm trees and a stretch of sand.

Is the rug thin as it looks very crinkled? Do you have anything underneath to stop the slippage? It's far too big also. I don't care for the colour either. Something darker and smaller maybe.

Shithole101 · 02/01/2024 15:27

I been told; ds 8 walks in living room . That's gross , it's disgusting, you look like you live in poverty 😭

OP posts:
jusmoi · 02/01/2024 15:27

I agree op a smaller patterned rug (abstract maybe? with ochre would match the wallpaper) will suit the space much better

Jacfrost · 02/01/2024 15:27

There's bigger problems in that room than the rug
