I am going to be honest here .... you did ask!

The wallpaper is horrible, the black leather suite is horrible and the rug ..... that is the pits!

I think you need to go back to the drawing board! 😀

greentreez23 · 02/01/2024 17:25

It's fine in the second photo. The sofa needs cushions and a throw draped over the back. It needs a coffee table and plants. It'll be fine once it's all accessorised

Shithole101 · 02/01/2024 17:22

It's not under the sofa at all I just folded it to see what it would look like

Ok but it looks so much better in the second photo. I quite like the colour too, and like pp said some green plants would compliment the colour too.

As if the op can just bin everything and start again 🙄
It's a family home not the front cover of Interior Design.

Ohh, that low padded footstool is lovely.

I sometimes think that when you have dogs and children it's easier not to have things you are absolutely in love with as you're not precious about them then. I bought a cheap dining bench in completely the wrong colour the other day, and my 5 year old loves it. It's now her seat and she's getting food on it and does her colouring sat on it. And I'm not bothered.

Kids are loving it . They are rolling all over it. Dog is happy to.

You are so rude. People don't have spare cash to fling out all their furniture and furnishings and start again. There is nothing wrong with OPs siting room, her rug is just a little bit big which she has acknowledged.

OP - I have been following your threads and you are doing a great job making a home for your family.

Goddessonahighway · 02/01/2024 17:32

@Shithole101 and that's what makes a comfy home! Relaxed parent and happy kids. Loved them doing the snow angels

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 02/01/2024 17:35

It looks much better in the second photo, but I think it's the the colour that isn't right. It's too warm and vibrant, needs to be a bit more muted. But having plants and a footstool may help break it up.

A coffee table would improve things.

This.

It's too much of a big caramel block..

Either get a smaller rug, or get a coffee table.

Maybe check out some of the other posts by this OP.

She has been posting here recently for support and has made some excellent progress with her house.

It looks a lot better in the second pic. I really would try getting it under the front legs of the sofa (all the way round) when you can rope in some help to lift the sofa.

I don’t think you need to be able to get it up to clean personally but I may be a bit of a slattern 😳 however the advice from interior designers is always to put the sofa legs on top of the rug and surely most people don’t lift the sofa off and take the rug up every time they clean?! Anyway bit of a tangent.

I think it’s a nice colour - warms the room up. I have a sofa the same colour (walls are your curtain colour a deep teal) and it looks great in the evening with some lamps on. Really glowy and welcoming.

Just needs something to break up the expanse of block colour like an ottoman (as a pp says if you get a fairly solid flat topped one, it can double as a coffee table when you want it to with a tray on top). Or a dog does the trick too 😁

Sometimes my house gets into a proper shit hole . It's something I'm working on. And I Need to be able to move it. Although it does not seem logic i guarantee I will fuck up some how.

I will consider a foot stall/ottoman not a coffee table though. No tray though it would not get used .

I will get the dog to lay more central 😅

Just put a tray on the dog 😆 sorted

Op, can I just also say that I've been following your posts and you've done such a great job in a short amount of time. Make sure you don't get too tired doing too much.
I think the rug looks nice, and so much better now you've rolled it up. I can see why you chose it as it picks out colours in the wallpaper.Once it's been down a bit longer it will look better and settle in a bit to the room. You'll find lots on here either haven't followed your posts or have quite a limited view of how interiors should look. I know your main aim was to create a warm cosy home for your children and you're doing a fantastic job at that so keep it up! 😀
I also love how your dog likes to have the seat reclined. She's just gorgeous. 😍

I like it in the 2nd pic where you've folded it - it just needs to line up more closely with the edges on your sofa which you should be able to do with your sofa being against walls. Or could you cut it down if you have no plans to return it, and hide the cut bit under the sofa?

Id stick with it - rugs make rooms look so much cosier 😊

Is it Designers Guild?

That's a crappy comment.

I think it would fall apart if i cut it . I will leave it like it is for a few days see how I feel

I think the rug is just too big.
We have two dogs who hate having their feet wiped so I feel your pain. Have you seen those door mats that trap the mud? Maybe that may help.

I have made it smaller now. I'm still not sure though
