So today me and hubby decided to sit down and watch saltburn. Thank god we decided to watch this just the two of us and not with his or my parents.

it’s the strangest film I’ve ever seen. I adore strange films and my previous weird film which I loved was ‘dogtooth’

this one really goes above that for strangest.

so tell me your weirdest. Strangest films you’ve ever seen!

PS. Has anyone else seen saltburn? What did you think?

I love that one, the director has a new.one worming out with Emma stone I'm keen to see.

The Emma stone one looks epic!

I can't believe there are at least two other people beside me who've seen Dogtooth - I bloody love it, one of my all-time favourite films! Not watched Saltburn yet, but I have high hopes if it's weirder than Dogtooth.

Yes!!!! I’ve not met another who has seen it either. I’m so glad there are others. The premise for it was soooo clever!

incredible film

I found Peter Greenaway 8 1/2 women weird and turned it off.

Came to mention Killing of Sacred Deer.

Couldn't finish it. Surgeon husband partook in niche sex with his wife (Nicole Kidman) where she role played as an unconscious lifeless drugged patient of his 🤢

I am overwhelmed with the responses on this post! I am delighted with how many films are now on my list

you’re all incredible!! Thank you ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Love this film!

Good film. Took me a while to get into it

in a tv series. I thought sharp objects was really good in a strange way. Also had Amy Adam’s in it and she’s such a great scope as an actress

I think the weirdest film that I still have a memory of is The Cell with Jennifer Lopez. I'm sure that I've seen weirder films but probably zoned out whereas I actually watched The Cell.

Loved that film!!!

Someone mentioned Under The Skin. Oh my, I couldn't sleep properly after watching that and just thinking about the film makes me shudder. It's terrifying 🤢

That film looks incredibly intriguing

Has anyone on this thread watched Bones & All? I really loved it, but not sure I'd recommend it to people as it is very odd.

Also loved Saltburn, any fans of that should definitely check out Emerald Fennell's other film - A Promising Young Woman, also brilliant.

I loved the book. But the film was terrible. I didn’t like it at all. I love him too as a director but this film was just rubbish in my eyes

I also love Florence Pugh, have you seen The Wonder? I would say it's pretty weird but also very sad.

Yes. Loved it. Good film

The most traumatic film I’ve ever watched was that one on youtube

‘Strange thing about the johnsons’

hws anyone ever seen that? I saw loads of people saying about how traumatic it was and how they wished they could unsee it and I decided it was a good idea to watch the film

i really should of listened to them….not often I am shocked or horrified. But this was some guys thesis film for university if I remember rightly!?!?

please tell me others have seen that film

@Cerealkiller4U that was Parasite. Excellent film though tbh I think most episodes of Inside Number 9 or Black Mirror are weirder.

Inside number 9?!? Ooh. I ADORE black mirror. So thought provoking. Have to say it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever watched on Netflix

OP, I can't find your reply. That Korean film you refer to is probably Parasite. It was massive when it was released.

Jingleballs2 · 28/12/2023 17:10

As a kid I remember watching eyes wide shut with Nicole kidman, it was so bloody weird 😅 I should probably rematch it and try and figure out what the he'll it was all about

Somepeoplearesnippy · 28/12/2023 17:16

Like many people I would nominate The Lobster (loved it) and Mother (hated it).

I'm flying long haul at the weekend and have downloaded Saltburn to watch on the plane. But just in case I can't bear it, I've also downloaded several episodes of Real Housewives and all the Hunger Games movies.

Oldandcobwebby · 28/12/2023 17:53

The Tin Drum
Naked Lunch
Freaks (The Tod Browning one from 1932)

LlynTegid · 28/12/2023 18:12

Saltburn is not one to watch with parents I agree. Enjoyed it but a very strange film.

Someone mentioned Parasite, heard that one of the lead actors has died far too young and thoughts for his family and friends.

Mindovermatter247 · 29/12/2023 22:45

So I’ve watched up till the bathtub scene, now contemplating on wether I want to watch any more… it’s very intriguing… I want to know how it finishes but I did get a bit weirded out…

serendippity · 29/12/2023 23:29

The greasy strangler!! Omg there are no words!
Shell- weird, bleak and depressing
The Plague dogs
The cook, the Thief, his wife and her lover
Tenet (I still have no idea what happened in that)

dayswithaY · 30/12/2023 08:26

Phantom Thread - so good, but such a strange turn of events.

Eyes Wide Shut - I actually enjoyed it but I have no clue what any of it means.

mrsDracoMalfoy · 30/12/2023 08:37

Shark-nado... 6 of them.

sleeponthesofa · 30/12/2023 08:37

I'm going to watch some of these weird movies!!
