So today me and hubby decided to sit down and watch saltburn. Thank god we decided to watch this just the two of us and not with his or my parents.

it’s the strangest film I’ve ever seen. I adore strange films and my previous weird film which I loved was ‘dogtooth’

this one really goes above that for strangest.

so tell me your weirdest. Strangest films you’ve ever seen!

PS. Has anyone else seen saltburn? What did you think?

A Danish comedy, Men & Chicken.

Inland Empire

I watched Barbie today....that was totally weird

I loved saltburn but can't quite put my finger on why. Weirdest film was killing of a sacred deer. Also with Barry keoghan

Ditto for saltburn. Such a hard film to describe to anyone, and hard to say why I liked it, it's nearly like it's hard to admit to liking it. But it kept me interested throughout and we talked about it on.tje car journey home from cinema. Not all films get that!

Human centipede. Turned it off! Sick. I live a horror but …

Tetsuo: Iron Man. I had a fever too and thought I was hallucinating at times.

Though I remember seeing that with a short film about a bunch of boys who were adrenaline addicts which outweirded it.

Yes, this film is nuts! @PermanentTemporary

Melancholia is outstanding. As is The Lobster.

Is Saltburn scary? (Before I start watching it alone in my hotel room… 😁)

It’s creepy and atmospheric but not scary

I can't believe there are at least two other people beside me who've seen Dogtooth - I bloody love it, one of my all-time favourite films! Not watched Saltburn yet, but I have high hopes if it's weirder than Dogtooth.

I watched Barbie the other day too. I didn't get it at all. Didn't understand the plot, didn't understand the situation, and I didn't think it had a consistent message. Maybe that was the point but it seemed to be playing several different drums at the same time, which just left me going WHAT at the end.

For one of the most popular films of the year, I was expecting something a lot more clever.

Visually, it was nice.

Mespher · 27/12/2023 20:39

I got Barbie free with Sky, I haven't watched it yet, I didn't realise it was weird.

Supersimkin2 · 27/12/2023 20:39

I adore Saltburn.

All the others mentioned on this thread left me bamboozled, reaching for the original
book.

Yougavemesixtysummers · 27/12/2023 20:42

I'm thinking of ending things - is weird but I enjoyed watching it.
Lobster - I didn't find this very entertaining maybe a bit too weird for my tastes
Spring breakers - weird in an uncomfortable way I wouldn't advise anyone bothers with this film.
Censor - a fun film, quite weird but if you like weird films this is a good one to watch.
I haven't seen Salt burn yet but might have to add it to the list.

Newyearnewarse · 27/12/2023 20:45

Man bites dog , I loved it but was weird
The lobster was peculiar but again I loved it.
Delicatessen is a great film but lots of people think that is a bit odd.

I am thinking Saltburn will be up my street .

WetBandits · 27/12/2023 20:47

Midsommar.

Bloody bonkers from start to finish, with an excellent performance from Florence Pugh.

Sandals12 · 27/12/2023 20:49

Some great recommendations, thanks. Dying to watch Dogtooth now after reading, but I'm a bit reluctant to at the same time!

Melancholia left a really weird really unsettling feeling of doom and dread, though it was a beautiful film - great soundtrack too.

The Room (from Tommy Wiseau) is the funniest worst film ever. Weird in that I have no idea why / how it was ever made to be so bad.

Northsideoftheriver · 27/12/2023 20:54

I found Hanna a bit weird.

Roaminginthegloaming · 27/12/2023 20:55

Eraserhead - a cult classic B&W movie with very little dialogue. Weird yet riveting.

The Lighthouse - strange but I got bored with it and just as well I was watching it at home as I left the room to do something else.

MrsHughesPinny · 27/12/2023 20:55

Buffalo 66. I had a huge thing for Vincent Gallo back in the 90s! It’s good, but definitely weird.

I’ve heard mixed reports about Saltburn…

Greenvelvetdress · 27/12/2023 20:57

I watched a film called Pink Flamingos years ago... That was very weird.

I have seen Saltburn, with my mum hahah, I did think it was very odd, but enjoyed it.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 27/12/2023 20:57

The film Saltburn caused a bit of a stir here in actual Saltburn. Some shocked faces coming out of the cinema.

efeslight · 27/12/2023 20:58

A Field in England was pretty weird

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/12/2023 21:02

We attempted Saltburn this evening. Couldn't get over the very odd depiction of Oxford, so after half an hour abandoned it.

Midsommar was horrifying and weird in equal measures.
