So today me and hubby decided to sit down and watch saltburn. Thank god we decided to watch this just the two of us and not with his or my parents.

it’s the strangest film I’ve ever seen. I adore strange films and my previous weird film which I loved was ‘dogtooth’

this one really goes above that for strangest.

so tell me your weirdest. Strangest films you’ve ever seen!

PS. Has anyone else seen saltburn? What did you think?

Tale of tales with Salma Hayek
The incident. Spanish. Just bloody weird.

Pelham678 · 27/12/2023 21:05

Loathed Saltburn. Only good bits were the ones with Richard E Grant and Rosamund Pike.

Weird film with high gore-o-meter was Saint Maud.

PooglesWood · 27/12/2023 21:05

Basketcase films, mental!

Ribenaberry12 · 27/12/2023 21:05

Watched Saltburn today and loved it.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 27/12/2023 21:06

Border. Soooo weird.

I loved saltburn but can't quite put my finger on why. Weirdest film was killing of a sacred deer. Also with Barry keoghan

Came to mention Killing of Sacred Deer.

Couldn't finish it. Surgeon husband partook in niche sex with his wife (Nicole Kidman) where she role played as an unconscious lifeless drugged patient of his 🤢

You may like an old film 2016
Nocturnal Animals , it is so menacing

Love this film!

Elderflower14 · 27/12/2023 21:08

Coraline... Took ds2 to see it. Very very weird!!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/12/2023 21:19

I think the weirdest film that I still have a memory of is The Cell with Jennifer Lopez. I'm sure that I've seen weirder films but probably zoned out whereas I actually watched The Cell.

Pudmyboy · 27/12/2023 21:39

Another vote for The Lobster and Tale of Tales and Eraserhead, and the old Freaks, and Society: started 'normal' and got weirder and weirder!

VerityUnreasonble · 27/12/2023 22:00

Taxidermia - m.imdb.com/title/tt0410730/

is a very odd film that sticks in my mind.

Rubber -
m.imdb.com/title/tt1612774/

is just a very stupid film.

Tiffincake · 27/12/2023 22:02

Someone mentioned Under The Skin. Oh my, I couldn't sleep properly after watching that and just thinking about the film makes me shudder. It's terrifying 🤢

Tiffincake · 27/12/2023 22:03

Also, anyone seen The Lobster with Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz?

louderthan · 27/12/2023 22:05

A toss up between 'A Field In England' and 'Mother!'

ronswansonstache · 27/12/2023 22:18

I borrowed a David Lynch boxset to watch on maternity leave. That was a mistake. Eraserhead is definitely up there in the list of films not to watch whilst heavily pregnant. Inland Empire is also completely nuts. I do love David Lynch even though I have zero idea of what's going on half the time.

Mindovermatter247 · 27/12/2023 22:20

I’m looking to watch this, I’ve watch3d a lot of of strange films, can’t point out what is the strang3st though.

Tiffanysepiphany · 27/12/2023 22:23

I watched it with my young adult kids and their respective partners. They were cringing so hard I kept having to remind them i’ve been on this earth a long time .

Awrite · 27/12/2023 22:23

The Baby - a 1973 film about a man kept as a baby (by using a cattle prod if memory serves).

I watched it in the 90's as a teenager. Fucking mind boggling.

Right, off to Google Saltburn.

Tiffanysepiphany · 27/12/2023 22:24

Little Otik. That’s a weird weird film

LovelyBitOfSquirrrel · 27/12/2023 22:24

@teaandtoastwithmarmite I forgot about that film.. I agree it’s probably the most uncomfortable film I’ve seen

I watched Saltburn today with both my parents and didn’t think it was actually that bad but a bit odd!

I could've easily watched it with my folks, it wasn't weird, it was great!

I really didn't like Ghost Stories, that was most un settling.

Thought Saltburn was excellent. I like an odd film. It reminded me of Melancholia the film withKirsten Dunst. Superb film

Melancholia is just about my favourite film of all time (the other one is Fantasia) - it's so beautiful and yet so grotesque. I can honestly say it changed my view of the world - and I watch it at least 4 times a year. I think I need to watch Saltburn now :)

Switcher · 27/12/2023 22:27

I thought it was a bit shit and derivative. I didn't find it strange at all. There was a Lars von Trier film that was strange a few years back. And of course There will be blood.

KindleGirlie · 27/12/2023 22:28

Silent Night, the Keira Knightly one. It’s stuck with me since I watched it.

basically a poisonous gas cloud is coming, so the world has been given suicide pills to take so it’s a quick painless end instead of horribly painful. Some school friends and their families get together for their last Christmas. It’s psychological, it had me questioning everything and I still can’t stop thinking about whether I would choose the pills for myself and my family or not.

Winnipeggy · 27/12/2023 22:29

Killing of a sacred deer. Also Barry Keoghan funnily enough 😂

Or the Lobster. Same director.
