My worst Christmas ever!!!

There was quite a widespread power cut in my area at 1pm just as everybody has half cooked their turkeys. I had power but being home with norovirus I wasn’t in a position to help anyone. Did feel sorry for all the ruined dinners and presumably lots of turkey thrown away as power didn’t resume till 5pm.

So basically a typically old fashioned Xmas - what is wrong with that. Have you not taught your children how to converse i.e. actually make conversation with adults or do they bury their heads in phones and tablets and are now socially incapable - have you thought about your parenting ? In any case, the fact you actually have a family unit should be celebrated not slagged off like you are doing here. If parents are elderly and you are such a hot shot of ideas why didn't you take things into hand and organise ?

Oh fgs - can't people have a safe place to vent without being told it's all their fault?

So sorry for those who had bad news or lost loved ones or whose day was generally not a hallmark card sort of day. Wishing you strength and love and all good things in the new year.

For the record, I had a great Christmas until the drive home which took three times longer than usual motorway was a parking lot and no services in the bit where we came to a stop and caused me extreme anxiety re bladder issues, only just made it home before it became obvious. Luckily downstairs loo also has washing machine and airing cupboard and hadn't put away the dry load so was able to do quick change and throw on machine load, don't think the others noticed!

Spent my Christmas on crutches after coming out of hospital 3 days beforehand. Being ‘looked after’ by autistic DD has not been fun for either of us.

Tested positive for Covid just b 4 Xmas. Was expecting a shite Xmas alone with a tin of soup coz my boys were with their dad this yr and I obvs couldn't infect my elderly mum, bro, sis etc by attending Xmas lunch with them. Ended up being a top day. My sis delivered Xmas lunch to my door. I for once didn't have to cook, prep, dishes, entertain etc etc. Ate lunch on me tod with Xmas snow scene on the telly and reading my new Stephen King book. The peace was bliss. Still feel shite with covid tho. Madness, chaos and stress will no doubt resume next yr as normal. Hugs to you all. Hope you all have a much improved Xmas next year.

Just discovered massive soot stain on the wallpaper thanks to lousy Primark candle that was lit last night, ffs.

Bit if a shit Xmas here. Was due to visit family down South but had to be called off as a family member had an accident. So thought ok, nice quiet day at home. …. Xmas with 2 teens and DH. DH got d and v bug. Kids were ok Xmas morning but reverted to stroppy type after lunch. Zero interest in games, watching a film or family walk so basically in their rooms all day. Was stuck on the sofa while DH vomited all day.

most of my friends were busy and no relatives nearby so a bit stuck at home alone while DH suffered in bed.

Weather was rubbish so even the dog didn’t fancy a walk !

DD has been at her part time job today and is in a foul mood so we’ve barely spoken. DS announced he didn’t want to walk to shops with me earlier in case he saw someone he knew….apparently some boy at school has said ‘your mum is old’. I am older than the average mum but not decrepit! Found that very hurtful and suggested he might think about how I feel about that!

So we’re on Wednesday and it’s been a bit rubbish. But……meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow and looking forward to offloading! And drinking!

merry bloody Xmas!

Try wiping with almost neat Fairy liquid on a very slightly damp clean kitchen sponge - worked on my fresh paint. Good luck

My family haven't left me bereft, I should add, I was going to see my family this year, then moved into a studio flat in November to get out of a HMO, which has really reduced my disposable income, so I couldn't afford the travel costs and hotel. Between my mum, dad and three siblings I got £80 sent to me, so I spent that on things I wanted, and my mum phoning me was the highlight of my day!

💐 wishing you the very best for 2024.
