That American cheese is all somehow "fake" and rubbish.

It is though. Processed and full of nasties.

I can't remember her name, but the lovely poster who fostered a child who was born from a drug addicted mother. It was heartbreaking and so wonderful at the same time. So much love born out of such sad circumstances. I think she died also. I wonder how the child is doing now.

i remember that one too, it was heartbreaking.

SuffolkUnicorn · 19/12/2023 07:31

I remember her too

That people wipe their backsides while sitting on the loo and that the loo in question may have never seen a brush. Skid marks under the waterline. Discuss.

Sorry, not read past this one- but where are people supposed to wipe their backsides? I'm confused!

CatSpam3 · 19/12/2023 07:32

The genuine vitriol by some posters to those on benefits and all the "I know a person who claims UC and has five foreign holidays a year, a Bentley and a five bed house in a nice area of london" posts.

In the same vein...some of the posts on the recent SEN provision thread and the general attitude to the disabled and vulnerable.

I didn't realise there were so many resentful, hateful people out there until I started reading mumsnet and now need to regularly take a break for my MH.

The OP who often washed their moon cup in the water that came through the toilet when flushing! Even public toilets 😱 After all the comments she did say she would stop doing this!

This too. It haunts me

letmeeatinpeace · 19/12/2023 07:34

An AMA thread from a sex worker who said one of their clients asker her to take the used condom out of the bin from a previous client so he could drink it.

biscuits cancer battle then death. She had a small baby Truly awful. I often wonder about her family

Me too. I always smile when I remember telling that she'd done a 'Footner' when she was first taken into hospital, and she kept apologising for skin being all over her bed! So sad.

Denimdenimdenim · 19/12/2023 07:37

I'll never forget the poster who was washing her mooncup in the toilet flush.

TTCnumberfour · 19/12/2023 07:44

I’ll never forget Pamela who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer. I wonder how her husband and son are doing.

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 07:45

Yes the wardrobe pissers! What the hell is that about? The first time I read about it I couldn’t believe it, but I’ve seen it loads of times now. “Amy DH came home drunk and pissed in the wardrobe all over my shoes” Xmas Shock

I know there is more serious and abusive behaviour from a lot of men but I was aware of that already IYSWIM. I just don’t get how you can mistake the wardrobe for a toilet - I’ve been pretty drunk when younger and never done that! Or is it that they just don’t care? I couldn’t ever fancy a man who did that again. And them some posters say meh it’s not that bad! Im not a clean freak but just uurrrgghh.

Sodapop1 · 19/12/2023 07:46

I read a thread where the posters DH made her set up a guide rope from the bedroom to the bathroom as he said his sickness bug made him feel so ill he couldn’t open his eyes. I often quote it to my DH when he has man flu!

RenoDakota · 19/12/2023 07:46

All of the ones where husbands/ partners piss the bed or in wardrobes when drunk.

vdbfamily · 19/12/2023 07:54

I got really over invested in a thread many years ago where someone had seen some documentation that suggested their partner of many years might actually be 15/20 years older than he claimed to be. She was planning to fly out to the Carribbean to try and locate his birth certificate or something. I am not sure if I just lost the thread or whether she removed it but have often wondered what the outcome was

Kittythecutest · 19/12/2023 07:55

I’m routinely shocked by the completely awful way some women’s husbands on here treat them. It makes me so sad that so many go through this.

On a lighter note, I think about the woman screaming at the Sistine Chapel at least twice a week!

tuvamoodyson · 19/12/2023 07:56

Vetoncall · 19/12/2023 01:41

The dog stealing and dumping is the one I always remember too. It wasn't students, I can't remember the exact username but the poster was a man and the username was a man's name/had a man's name in it. I remember that because every time I saw it on another thread after that one I thought how much I despised him. I continue to wish him all the worst to this day.

Sure it was Angus Og? I remember it because ‘Angus Ogg’ was a comic strip in a newspaper about a dense Scottish chap and his equally dim friend Lachie from the highlands! Not as cruel as it sounds, it really was very funny! ‘Ochone ochone’ was his lament if anyone remembers him!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/12/2023 08:05

There was one of those 'what's happening in your house threads' and the op just casually said something about her 12 or 14 year old having sex with her girlfriend in her room 'so I'll have to have a chat with her about that lol' and people were like wtf how can we just casually speak about what we're up to on a Sunday morning. The OP changed her name and I can't ever reply to one of her posts now.

C1N1C · 19/12/2023 07:26

My favourite one was the married woman who went to a (hen?) party and ended up licking whipped cream off the stripper's penis.

How an easy 75% of MN brushed it off as a crazy thing to do and she should forgive herself and not tell her partner, yet will vilify any man who has said he's EVER been to a strip club because he clearly has a low impression of women etc.

Funny, because my most shocking examples are when men pop up to completely misrepresent threads to pretend they reveal these oh so shocking double standards when in fact you just reveal your own agenda.

That thread was not in any way as you describe here. But it's telling that you have to fabricate examples of misandry and hypocrisy as clearly you can't find very many real ones.

Wisterical · 19/12/2023 00:45

That over 50% of readers would NOT make their child give up their seat on the bus to someone elderly or with mobility difficulties!

This. Plus the poster who argued that anyone over 70 should not have access to the NHS.

I was going to say the same about benefit bashing, social housing bashing too. The racism, ageism and ableism that is spewed here is shocking too. Some people are so full of hate.

LeopardPrintTits · 19/12/2023 08:13

Not shocking in a horrible way, but I was dumbfounded by a thread on here about 4 or 5 years ago where a woman couldn’t work out why her friend wouldn’t buy her a horse!

It ended up being a reverse, written by the real life friend character in the OP from the perspective of her friend who had apparently asked her horse riding friend for her very own horse!

Utterly bizarre!

What is shocking is the sheer depth of anger some people carry around with them - the disgust and vitriol shown towards benefit claimants, single parents, disabled people and anyone over the age of 50 is horrifying.

Where are you supposed to wipe your arse:? In the kitchen? On the bus?
I don't understand
