ALittleTeawithmilk · 19/12/2023 06:22

I know right. @Roundtable83 . When I read it out to my husband and son I was still laughing so hard I could barely speak.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 19/12/2023 06:28

shocked by the amount of toilets in schools that are inaccessible to students.
shocked to read how disruptive students and distressing situations are brushed over for fear of being “that parent”.
hilarious thread, deleted, on someone wanting to identify as Scottish, a parody on self id gender issue.

OneMorePlant · 19/12/2023 06:28

A while ago there was a thread that said bum scrunch leggings look fucking shit. I did not know what bum scrunch leggings were. Now I know. I wish I didn't. The OP was right, they look fucking shit.

At the risk of derailing this thread I think the poster who denigrated American Cheese was at least consistent with how it is portrayed in wiki

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_cheese
'American cheese is a type of processed cheese developed in the 1910s made from cheddar, Colby, or similar cheeses, in conjunction with sodium citrate, which permits it to be pasteurized without its components separating

After patenting a new method for manufacturing processed cheese in 1916,[3][4] James L. Kraft began marketing it in the late 1910s, and the term "American cheese" rapidly began to refer to the processed variety instead of the traditional but more expensive cheddars also made and sold in the U.S.

There was also an inheritance one from over a decade ago that left me flabbergasted as it developed:

This is an incredible thread. The poor woman. I suspect that the brother was heavily in debt. If, for any reason, my parents left an estate just to me, I would share it with siblings. It would be the only way to sustain a relationship.

I’ve only been on MN a year or so but my favourite ridiculous thread was the woman whose cat was stuck in their neighbours house. She had posted crab sticks and ice cubes through a gap in the window and then thought it was unreasonable when her neighbour wanted her to pay for damages.

I loved that thread! It was reasonable to pay for the damage she caused (not the cats damage as house should have been secured better) but I think they asked for about a grand if I remember correctly.

madeinmanc · 19/12/2023 06:41

That people exist who put their loo brush in their dishwasher to clean it! 🤮

I've also been shocked by the sheer amount of terrible behaviour women on here put up with from their husbands or partners. It made me genuinely happier to be single but that in of itself is shocking, too.

sashh · 19/12/2023 06:42

Brian from Hull and his offer to give us all a 'yoni massage'.

AuroraForever · 19/12/2023 06:43

Any toilet brush discussion. Especially the one where someone said they wash theirs in the dishwasher.

Isthatarealname · 19/12/2023 06:47

Obviously the abusive partners are the most shocking, then the Cheeky Fuckers.

But I do remember a poster saying how terrible people are for feeding children raisins

ConstantRain · 19/12/2023 06:47

The amount of men who piss in the bedroom/wardrobe/bed after getting drunk.

It wasn't just one, though. It was several people 😭

Me too! Loved that thread.

That one was really funny. I have no idea whether the OP was genuine or not and in the end, it didn't matter... all I remember is posters changing their usernames to include yoni in as many different ways as possible and asking lots of questions about the service... it was so funny 😂

I grew up in America and have lived in France and the UK and am a huge fan of cheese. What we refer to in America as American cheese is a processed pasteurised food product that is basically fake cheese. It's traditionally eaten on burgers (like from McDonald's) and ham and cheese sandwiches with mayonnaise and wonderbread. It's not nice. But there are many very nice cheeses such as the aforementioned Monteray Jack that happen to come from America.

In terms of shocking - I read a lot of comments about Americans on here, stereotyping us as if we're all the same. It's pretty bizarre.

Lately I'm finding the threads about people being unable to access medical care for truly frightening and/or painful symptoms shocking (NOT saying the system in America is any better. Different, and far better in some ways, much worse in others). I also found the inheritance thread shocking - the utter powerless of ordinary people in those types of situation is quite upsetting.

Blahdeblah12345 · 19/12/2023 07:05

The woman whose husband would disappear to the shed for hours every day and not let her in or even let her see what was in there, to the point that he was angrily protective of it. She was going to break in to it when he was out and see what he was up to. Think there might even have been been security cameras set up. Seems obviously made up now that I'm thinking about it lol

Jadedandlost · 19/12/2023 07:13

The woman who swore blind that by using a moon cup she had lost weight, and we all could too.
The person on style and beauty who suggested that one of best place to buy stylish clothes is in garden centres.

violetcuriosity · 19/12/2023 07:14

The poster who in response to my post about being attacked by a man for 'being in his way' while putting my baby in the car said that I shouldn't have taken up so much room on the pavement 😂👍🏻

time4aNC · 19/12/2023 02:10

This thread was so long ago I’m not sure I’m remembering it correctly but a poster let their holiday home to a neighbour for free. The neighbour in question had been harassing them about it and OP gave in.

When OP went to their holiday home for a holiday the neighbours family was in there! They had made a copy of the key.

When someone felt the need to pretend to not understand someone saying brought instead of bought on a thread by a woman who had recently put all her money into a new house with her partner and he’d just punched her in the face during an argument.

Actually said “I’m confused, where have you brought your house??” on a thread about DV

Edited

I've just started reading the thread, and you've already won. That's awful. I'm particularly irked (internally) by typos and poor grammar, but this would be mean even on a thread about puppies.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 19/12/2023 07:20

The dog one was awful. There was no remorse for leaving the dog there or the distress of its owner.

CatSpam3 · 19/12/2023 07:26

The guy who stole and dumped the dog ended up flouncing from mumsnet as he was shocked and pissed off at posters' anger at him 🙄yes it was something like AndrewFogg....

C1N1C · 19/12/2023 07:26

My favourite one was the married woman who went to a (hen?) party and ended up licking whipped cream off the stripper's penis.

How an easy 75% of MN brushed it off as a crazy thing to do and she should forgive herself and not tell her partner, yet will vilify any man who has said he's EVER been to a strip club because he clearly has a low impression of women etc.
