You start...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/12/2023 00:23

That a poster said they share a small portion of fish and chips between a family of four as 'that's plenty' along with a massive salad. I think of them every time I go to the chippy and tuck into my dinner 😱😂

WetTowelsWillRemainOnFloorWhereTheyHaveBeenLeft · 19/12/2023 00:24

People turning their underwear inside out and it lasting two days or more. 🤢

WetTowelsWillRemainOnFloorWhereTheyHaveBeenLeft · 19/12/2023 00:26

See also being proud of hardly ever washing their hands. I think that thread was pre-Covid but can’t be sure.

They probably haven’t changed their habits.

The woman who put her kids to bed in their uniforms ready for the next day Blush

Pastlast · 19/12/2023 00:28

A woman who’s hack for dealing with her kid getting dog poo on his wellies was to run them through the dishwasher.

MissConductUS · 19/12/2023 00:29

That American cheese is all somehow "fake" and rubbish.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 19/12/2023 00:33

When someone felt the need to pretend to not understand someone saying brought instead of bought on a thread by a woman who had recently put all her money into a new house with her partner and he’d just punched her in the face during an argument.

Actually said “I’m confused, where have you brought your house??” on a thread about DV

maras2 · 19/12/2023 00:34

Anyone using a douche for non medical purposes ie. 'to just feel fresh'. Usually, but not always, American posters.

AmadeustheAlpaca · 19/12/2023 00:35

The woman who let her small child walk back from school on their own after dark in winter. The police had spoken to her about this as her child had already been approached by a stranger with a car. She carried on letting him walk home alone as she wanted him to learn independence. Poor child must have been so frightened.

Wait, do you mean American Cheese (which is not cheese, it legally has to be labeled as such!) or just American made cheese? Is that even a thing?

The thread was about all cheeses made in the US, regardless of type.

That people wipe their backsides while sitting on the loo and that the loo in question may have never seen a brush. Skid marks under the waterline. Discuss.

And now I'll think of this too! 😄

Ortila · 19/12/2023 00:43

Some of the stories from landlords are pretty staggering. There was one who held her tenant to moving out date when the tenant's house purchase was delayed, even though she didn't have another tenant lined up. Petty and bonkers.

flowerchild2000 · 19/12/2023 00:43

The many threads about their husband's nasty behinds, leaving poo on sheets, etc. 🤮

Wisterical · 19/12/2023 00:45

That over 50% of readers would NOT make their child give up their seat on the bus to someone elderly or with mobility difficulties!

Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't most American cheese just copies of European cheeses ? . I'm willing to be corrected 😁.

ShortMotherfuckerWithTheIvoryHair · 19/12/2023 00:51

I can't remember her name, but the lovely poster who fostered a child who was born from a drug addicted mother. It was heartbreaking and so wonderful at the same time. So much love born out of such sad circumstances. I think she died also. I wonder how the child is doing now.

Most American cheeses have European roots, but have evolved differently and have different flavor notes due to the milk coming from different breeds of cows, different feeding practices, etc. A good Vermont cheddar is not the same as a good English or Irish cheddar, for example. Other American cheeses are entirely original. More here:

The Original American Cheeses - Forget that processed stuff that comes in individually wrapped slices. Many different types of cheese are uniquely American; we’ll help you find the finest American cheeses.

Raspberrymoon49 · 19/12/2023 00:55

The distressing posts about hearing children next door crying excessively, being shouted at, etc, makes me feel sick and I would have to do something, I followed through on similar situation some years ago, my conscience couldn’t let me ignore anything like that

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 19/12/2023 00:57

The OP whose abusive husband forced her to EAT a piece of paper on which she'd listed some of his behaviours which upset her (surprised it wasn't the size of the Yellow Pages) was especially nasty.

As if that were not horrendous enough, his parents were with them at the time, and his mum urged her to do as he said, because she was afraid of her son as well.

Scottishdreams1991 · 19/12/2023 00:58

The only thing I can protest about this is the incorrect use of the word American. America is comprised of 35 nations not just the US. So yes there are many unique American cheeses, the Mexican queso fresco is a favorite of mine. I'm only slightly joking and you're not wrong.

Would that matter? There are only so many ways to make cheese, and it is hardly worth the air miles to fly supermarket value cheddar from Bristol to Boston when you could just make it over there.

We also make Somerset brie etc, which is obviously a direct copy of a French cheese, so we don’t have any moral high ground over here. I see German cheddar in German supermarkets, alongside German mozzarella and German Parmesan. Local copies of internationally popular cheeses are not exactly unique to the US.
