Should I report this?

At 7:40am we had someone ring our doorbell no less than 10 times and bang on the door. We assumed it was something serious so shot up, put clothes on and went downstairs.

In that timeframe, we heard them try our door handle, bang the door and ring the doorbell several times again.

It was a fucking delivery driver dropping off a parcel.

I checked the security cameras and he did indeed try to see if our door was open.

In what world is this acceptable? Why would you try to see if our door is unlocked? All lights were off and blinds closed because we were asleep!

I'm half tempted to report this. Would you?

@Alargeoneplease89 I said the first. I didn't even get a pause between the first and the rest.

Don't try get specific with me and catch me out.

Our delivery drivers ALL open our door and sit the parcel just inside. It's not a porch either. I have absolutely no problem with this and regularly shout 'thanks' as they're closing the door.

@Lilithlogic when have I said I want him to lose his job? Please quote and show me.

I want him told it's not ok to try someone's door handle.

What would you like to happen next time, send the parcel back? Standard deliveries stop today. He didn't break in, he just wanted to get your parcel to you. You should be thanking him for trying to go the extra mile for you. Let's hope next time you get the one knock and they fuck off, really give you something to whinge about.

Seems to me that anyone who dares to disagree with you becomes victim to your vitriol. You're not really bothered about the delivery driver, you just want him to pay. A man losing his job is nothing to you, especially this sort of man who you obviously deem beneath you.

don't bother, this OP seems to enjoy being rude and arsey to anyone on the thread, who disagrees. The concept of a conversation is lost on here.
Such a lack of self awareness is a bit breathtaking, I am glad I don't have to deal with her in real life.

Bloody hard work for anyone having to deal with her most likely. I shall save my breath 🤣

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 15:30

@Lilithlogic read the delivery notes and leave it where requested. The risk is on me.

So did you get your parcel?

You seem to be talking about perception rather than actual.

While someone might think there is a safety issue, there isn't really one.

Just like an empty milk bottle blowing across the road isn't a safety issue for me in my car, instinctively I panicked.

Milk bottles are objects.

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 15:40

@Lilithlogic no, I left it outside so my imaginary dog can eat it.

OP posts:
Lilithlogic · 14/12/2023 15:44

Maybe you imagined the delivery driver and his knocking too, after all you were asleep, apparently

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 15:45

@Lilithlogic you're absolutely correct. My CCTV has this cool edit feature where I can create my own film 🍿

So do I. I like nice surprises 👍

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 15:53

@Rickenbackergoodgrief you were one of the regular commentators on here who's name changed to insult me, it's obvious.

You'll be pleased to know I don't actually give a fuck about someone as embarrassing as you to call a stranger a cunt.

Bet you wouldn't say it to my face Wink

Why would he lose his job if trying door handles isn't a problem?

I hope you've got good odds on that bet.
No, not name changed to insult you, I've posted on other threads under this name prior to yours, so don't flatter yourself.
Glad to hear that you don't give a fuck, it means you won't bother to respond, as you don't give a fuck, no siree. 😂

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 16:01

I do enjoy a lot of the bold comments on this as I am incredibly confident you'll be quiet as a mouse in real life and just enjoy an online argument. Fine by me.

I genuinely hope, and this is sincere, that nobody is as worked up as I am over someone trying to open a door handle. You don't know my or other peoples reasons as to why we would be uncomfortable with it.

I hope that if anyone attempts or does open your door in the future, that you are fine and it is a safe encounter.

Why would he lose his job if trying door handles isn't a problem?

People have been silent on this so far.

If it's perfectly OK behaviour, it means that even if OP reports him nothing will happen.

If he'd get fired for it, then obviously it's not OK.

Which is it? Or should OP just put up with unacceptable behaviour because "be kind".

@Lilithlogic you're absolutely correct. My CCTV has this cool edit feature where I can create my own film 🍿

You could edit the postie into Santa wearing a burglars outfit and a swag bag. Anyways have a good Christmas and brick your chimney up, if you have one, just in case

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 16:04

@Lilithlogic no chimney here, too cold! Have a good Christmas too. There's no hard feelings from my side at all Xmas Smile

Rickenbackergoodgrief · 14/12/2023 16:07

@secretsanta23 whatever you say 😂

FrontEnd · 14/12/2023 16:12

Wow this thread is nuts. Some really spiteful and ignorant comments being made towards OP. Seems like having a front door is nothing more than an inconvenience in your zero crime (and zero empathy) areas. Happy for you.

"Be kind and let the uninvited strange man in your house with submissive gratitude else you're very, very bad...and by the way may your basic security boundaries be damned, witch!" Hilarious 😂

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 16:15

@FrontEnd don't forget to say thanks when the stranger walks in with your parcel! Grin
