Explain slippers to me

Genuinely don’t get slippers and thought Christmas might be a good time to ask.

So you’re in the house, taken off your shoes or boots and you have tights or socks. It’s inside so tights and socks are warm enough. When you want to go outside you slip on crocs, plimsolls whatever.

I don’t get slippers. Why do you need shoes indoors?

I'm obviously in the minority reading this thread because I love bare feet and never wear socks or slippers at home even in winter. I'll wear jeans and a thick jumper but my feet are bare. I just like the feeling of the carpet and floors and being able to wiggle my feet. I appreciate I'm the weirdo though!

I was the same, barefoot indoors and out whenever possible, until past age 50. Then all sorts of weird and unpleasant things started happening to my feet (esp with weight gain). So I wear cushiony shoes and slippers now. Still hate socks.

What's with the sock hatred?

They just make my feet claustrophobic and sweaty. Always take them off with my shoes.
