He's brought in the recent unpopular 20mph, not everything he's introduced has been popular though. I can't believe that most A roads in Swansea are 20mph but considering the state of them going any faster will bugger your car up even more.

True! I travel to Swansea quite often as ds is a swimmer and it's where their national pool is. I can't imagine ever being able to travel over 20mph anywhere I've been in Swansea. I think you're lucky to get over 10!

MushMonster · 13/12/2023 17:36

I like the term Sunakability lol

MushMonster · 13/12/2023 17:39

Drakeford has resigned?

AutumnCrow · 13/12/2023 18:13

MushMonster · 13/12/2023 17:39

Drakeford has resigned?

He's announced that he will be stepping down in March. So there will be a leadership election between now and then, I think. He hasn't just legged it.

Zonder · 13/12/2023 18:15

Sadly yes. Sounds like he needs a break.

There’s a point here where this guy realises that he knows this is bollocks and he’s not being paid enough for this.

The news just mentioned that the Bibby Stockholm costs are more than £22m, revealed by the HO in a letter today

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/12/2023 19:01

So 290million to Rwanda, 22m on Bibby Stockholm and god knows what on hotels, housing.

It would have been considerably cheaper to just fucking process the claims. It’s not like anyone has been deterred by any of this shit.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/12/2023 19:38

Just seen some of the footage of PMQs. Rishi really is appalling. Quite apart from going on the attack when presented with a homeless child asking for a home for Christmas. He’s offered an olive branch by Starmer to join him in wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas and new year and goes on the attack again.

Tetchy doesn’t cover it.

People do not take their own lives because they have been housed, fed and are in a safe country. They sadly take their own lives because they have mental health problems. Please don't oversimplify.

Some of you need to read up about the tragedy of suicide and how of course many people try to blame others or find a 'reason', but usually it is because the person has complex mental health issues.

I think along with regular bread and water that refugees are being fed it is important to establish whether they are also supplied with birthday cake. I understand that some grown men cannot work on their birthday or their work colleagues birthday without eating birthday cake, even if eating such a cake is illegal at the time.

Labour is using a picture of his very angry face.

Mind boggling that that very angry face was his response to a child’s letter to Santa asking for a forever home. He’s going to regret that.

This is how useless he is at politics. Should be virtually impossible to screw this up.

I think bearing in mind someone has sadly taken their own life after fleeing persecution and other such horrors from another country it is in extremely bad taste for you to try and get a few back slaps and sniggers with your birthday party monologues.

AdamRyan · 13/12/2023 20:51

I think its in extremely bad taste to write it off because of suicide being the leading cause of death in men under forty. But hey ho.

Interesting that to you, criticism of Boris is more offensive than minimising suicide.

I'm not laughing. No one on here is.

Nobody’s laughing. Just as nobody laughed when you attempted to shrug off this tragedy. I personally find it pretty tasteless that you think food and shelter in squalid conditions is enough for those poor people.

pointythings · 13/12/2023 21:21

Room size on that barge is worse than it is in a standard prison cell. These men have committed no crime - their claims are still pending, and no matter what this government say it is not illegal to seek asylum.

Roussette · 13/12/2023 21:21

I read that it is the size of a small parking space.

It is also in extremely bad taste to party when such things are illegal because people are dying in a pandemic, including an increase in those taking their own lives?

pointythings · 13/12/2023 21:38

I think that what is really offensive is dismissing someone's suicide as just 'mental health' in the full knowledge that their living conditions would have been a massive contributing factor to their mental ill health. Callous, cruel, Tory.

Notonthestairs · 13/12/2023 22:21

Another by-election?

According to The Times the standards committee report on Scott Benton will come out tomorrow.

Benton was the Tory MP that offered to lobby ministers and provide a copy of a confidential policy document for £4k a month. He also said he could provide real time updates and easy access to ministers

He also voted Aye yesterday 🙄

Notonthestairs · 13/12/2023 22:26

Made me think of Hancock and Kwarteng offering their services for £10k a day. I thought that was a year or so ago but no! It was in March.
What a year.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/12/2023 22:44

Understandable notonthestairs it’s very difficult to keep up with all the MPs the Tories have had to kick out in the last 12 months.

Is it OK to laugh slightly at being lectured on morality by Janiie after her post this morning?

Notonthestairs · 13/12/2023 22:56

If Janii's point was that successive Governments have under invested in mental health services then I agree.

We simply haven't trained enough practitioners and those working in the service are utterly overloaded. My family have had first hand experience of the delays.

Unfortunately we won't be able to remedy this quickly - the impact of austerity (in its various versions) & sidelining of MH services will be felt for years.

Notonthestairs · 13/12/2023 23:02

The Peter Bone recall petition (Wellingborough) ends 19/12. Don't know how quickly we get the results of that

Another Aye voter.
