According to Mogg we are being po faced puritans for quibbling with Truss's honours list. All part of their support for a PM implementing their democratic mandate.
And it costs us nothing apparently.

No idea how any Conservative can bandy about the phrase "Democratic mandate" with a straight face.

Quite.

I'm not even sure what democratic mandate Sunak is governing on - but I'm not even sure he knows!

Roussette · 30/12/2023 18:00

Hahaha, oh yes!

I have quite a list too !

My top three are Moggy, 30p and Gullis... but there are plenty more! My MP would be the cherry on the icing on the top of a cake (30 years in post, useless)

I'll throw in Braverman going too.

Not much chance but all I have nowadays is hope

cakeorwine · 30/12/2023 18:41

Do you have to be a Conservative MP to be Leader of the Conservative Party*

*Asking for lots of Tory MPs on this!!

Mogg apparently won the best back bencher award from Cons Home

Ahahahahahahaha

That sounds like something a school leaver would add to their CV.

smug twat.

According to the Times, Sunak is having secret talks to bring back Cummings.....

Roussette · 30/12/2023 20:22

Sunak will try anything!

Notonthestairs · 30/12/2023 20:31

Tax cuts seems to be central to Cummings vision.

Not sure how that fits with a shortage of secondary school teachers, falling down hospitals, lack of social care, funding cuts to local government, justice system bottlenecks, cuts to prison services, rising waiting lists etc etc.

I guess they think people won't notice. Maybe some people dont.

L1ttledrummergirl · 30/12/2023 20:54

I'm keeping a days annual leave especially for the day after the election so I can sleep because I plan to be up all night to see the results come in. I also plan to have the champagne at the ready.

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2023 21:02

Have it on ice. I'm hoping they'll get burned!

I'm doing exactly the same thing.

I'll be fine, I don't work Fridays 😄

Imagine being so confused that you bring back Cameron AND Cummings.

I am going to try linking to the article - apologises if it doesnt work.

I am impressed with the idea that Sunak lost his nerve, I didn't know he had one to lose.

BIossomtoes · 30/12/2023 22:24

I don’t work any more but I’ll be up all night with a bottle of fizz in the fridge.

Same here, I’d think all my birthdays had come at once if that ejjit Mogg lost his seat along with the others already mentioned oh & Mercer & Patel.

TrashedSofa · 31/12/2023 09:28

I think Mercer is expected to go, isn't he? Which may partially explain some of the more desperately idiotic behaviour recently. He's panicking. Mogg is a possibility, albeit one probably requiring the opposition parties to cooperate, but I've not seen anything to suggest Patel is at risk.

newnamethanks · 31/12/2023 10:34

Mercer was booed, quite rightly, when he switched on his local Christmas lights 👋 John boy

Oh yeah I heard about that! He knows his days are numbered.

newnamethanks · 31/12/2023 10:38

Oh bring back the man who brought us Brexit, its all going so well. I expect the Downing St staff are thrilled by the prospect of Cummings' return. Maybe they'll throw a party?

BIossomtoes · 31/12/2023 10:52

Thankfully Cummings turned Rishi down. The reek of desperation must be overwhelming.

FLASHBACK: Dominic Cummings will have “absolutely nothing to do with any government that I am privileged to lead” said Sunak when auditioning for the job.

Only to bring him in for secret advice.

Exclusive @Telegraph: Downing Street officials are looking at changing the Government’s fiscal rules in an attempt to set a trap for Labour over borrowing

Long term decisions, brighter future, Sunak as the change candidate etc etc

Shame they don't just focus on governing in the interest of the country rather than desperate attempts to hang on to power.

cakeorwine · 31/12/2023 13:01

I am getting Facebook adverts from Sunak asking me to follow him so I can get personal updates.

Tempted to write a reply.

Miriam Cates latest attack, on free child care this time (her tweet in link)

https://x.com/LiamThorpECHO/status/1740667153790247332?s=20

What a truly deranged way to talk about a plan to extend free childcare

Are the Tories planning a huge extension to paid maternity/paternity leave then?

I'm finding the tory position very confusing. What is it they actually want from parents? Have more babies they say, while implementing policies aimed to limit the number of babies. So do they want more or less?

Both parents need to be working, but bring in policies that make it harder and harder for both parents to work. So do they want us working or not?

Objecting to chilcare for babies from 6 months but not extending maternity rights to allow for longer at home. So should babie be with mum or in childcare?

Confused
