Unlikely that she’s claiming anything other than her tax free £350 a day for tipping up at Westminster. Quite honestly I don’t care, it’s a tiny thing in the context of everything else they’ve done.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 12:48

You're right, @BIossomtoes , I was forgetting that it's perfectly acceptable - right in fact - that public money must be placed in private hands where it can be usefully employed instead of being squandered on "crap parents" and their hungry offspring along with other wasteful non-productive socialist ideas like free health care, public transport and education for all. Silly me.

Don’t have a go at me. I agree with you but it’s insignificant compared with all the other shit they’ve inflicted on us.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 13:04

I'm sorry @BIossomtoes , it's not my intention to have a go at you, my apologies if I've offended you. It's not you. It's THEM. May they fry for eternity, it's less than they deserve.

L1ttledrummergirl · 30/12/2023 13:09

@BIossomtoes you're right. All the tiny insignificant shit adds up to make one hell of a pile though, and the country is drowning in it.

That they think Truss having a list is acceptable at all shows how many rotten apples there are in the barrel. It's truly sickening.

Roussette · 30/12/2023 13:25

^This.
It's like the straw that broke the camel's back. Except there have been so many.

BIossomtoes · 30/12/2023 13:26

No offence taken @newnamethanks. And you’re right @L1ttledrummergirl, the cumulative effect is huge. I actually worry sometimes that the longer this goes on the fewer things shock me. I guess it’s a classic case of boiling frog syndrome.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 13:43

Thank you Blossomtoes. All that you say is true. Its just bloody relentless. 'They wouldn't do that'. But they would, they have and there's always more. I glimpsed a headline yesterday saying 10 years just to repair the current forced neglect of the country. I didn't read the article, I couldn't face it. All I have is impotent fury. And they are still there up to their armpits in loot stripping the neediest and congratulating each other. Vile people.

IClaudine · 30/12/2023 14:09

And yet there are still plenty of ordinary people who will vote for them. It is mind blowing.

But at least the clock is ticking loudly for them (the Tories) now.

Notonthestairs · 30/12/2023 11:34

"a daughter/love interest."

That very fact that nobody knows (or is willing to say publicly) why Owen is in the HoL shows the scale of the problem.

Agree.

How can you give someone a peerage and then be allowed a super injunction out out on them?

Accountability and integrity 🤔

Grimpo · 30/12/2023 15:51

I wonder if a Labour government can basically nullify the superinjunction? Or indeed if an MP can use Parliamentary privilege to get round it? It's difficult to think of any possible relevant secret that would genuinely cause harm if revealed.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 16:19

Perhaps she's a Russian spy? Maybe Mr Lebedev knows the answer. Whoops, excuse me, Lord Lebedev 👑 that is.

Roussette · 30/12/2023 16:24

Lord Lebedev of Hampton and Siberia you mean... yes really!

Notonthestairs · 30/12/2023 16:41

According to Mogg we are being po faced puritans for quibbling with Truss's honours list. All part of their support for a PM implementing their democratic mandate.
And it costs us nothing apparently.

No idea how any Conservative can bandy about the phrase "Democratic mandate" with a straight face.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 16:44

That's the one Roussette. Why have one Russian in the UK legislature when you could possibly have 2? Or more. As many as anyone could want really, just ensure a decent bung to the party and it's yours for the asking. There's always Baroness Mone on hand for a chat about corsetry, or boats, essential knowledge for a Peer of the Realm. Or maybe you fancy editing the London Evening paper? What would we do without the depth and breadth of knowledge they bring us?

LlynTegid · 30/12/2023 16:47

@Notonthestairs well at least Mr Rees-Mogg probably met the Puritans in his younger days in the 17th Century.

Cornettoninja · 30/12/2023 17:02

No idea how any Conservative can bandy about the phrase "Democratic mandate" with a straight face

quite. The flow chart detailing this ‘democracy’ is an embarrassment.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 17:02

Mogg is calling other people 'po faced puritans'? Irony doesn't feature strongly in his life.

Notonthestairs · 30/12/2023 17:19

I'm quite sure Mogg is loving the attention.

He's a plummy voiced version of 30p really.

Roussette · 30/12/2023 17:45

I would give anything for Moggy to lose his seat. I'd stay up all night to watch that

The nearby constituency of Somerton & Frome was overturned by Lib Dems in July. There is hope.

pointythings · 30/12/2023 17:50

@Roussette I would so be there for that! Along with Gullis, 30 p Lee, Cates, Kruger, Mercer - the list is endless.

newnamethanks · 30/12/2023 17:57

Me too. I promise to go to the nearby cathedral and light a candle to thank Mogg's deity for finally giving him his just reward, a long period of contemplative prayer during which he can remind himself of the main tenets of the faith he proclaims as his own. Can't help feeling he hasn't quite grasped it all.

Roussette · 30/12/2023 18:00

Hahaha, oh yes!

I have quite a list too !

My top three are Moggy, 30p and Gullis... but there are plenty more! My MP would be the cherry on the icing on the top of a cake (30 years in post, useless)

DuncinToffee · 30/12/2023 18:17

Mogg apparently won the best back bencher award from Cons Home

I’m so hoping that happens. It will be one of the highlights of our election thread. The cheer will be heard in outer space.
