Rishi Sunak has told the Covid Inquiry he is unable to hand over WhatsApp messages due to changing his phone. Do Britons think he...?

Genuinely can't access them: 11%
Probably could if he wanted: 71%

The 11% are the proportion of people in the country who’ve never used WhatsApp.

Here’s an interview Michelle Mone can’t get out of. She’s been interviewed under caution by the NCA.

More sunlit uplands?

I hope not. How many sunlit uplands do we need? I'm not sure I can take many more.

Anisette · 12/12/2023 07:56

Apparently the centrist block of MPs have told Sunak they'll support the Rwanda Bill, but not if it gets amended to appease the Right. And this morning he has a breakfast meeting to try to appease the Right. That should be interesting.

Notonthestairs · 12/12/2023 08:00

He'll tell the right they can amend next year. He'll tell the centre right he won't amend it further.

Its just postponing the inevitable in the hope something else comes along.

I think that we can be sure that Rishi will manage to find another self inflicted car crash to come along. The reverse midas touch he has is strong.

L1ttledrummergirl · 12/12/2023 08:13

If it helps, I don't use WhatsApp, it's just something else to monitor. Friends who use it still insists on sending me photos etc which I can't get rid of so I think it takes some doing to actually lose the bloody messages.

WhatsApp must have them stored somewhere.

BIossomtoes · 12/12/2023 08:25

Everything’s on the cloud now.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/12/2023 08:35

Ironic really that WhatsApp are one of the companies threatening to pull out of the U.K. because of the online safety bill.

Sunak couldn't recall FSM or Marcus Rashford yesterday, this report is no surprise

Paul Johnson, director IFS
Cut in funding for schools serving disadvantaged children was deliberate policy.

- Real value of pupil premium down 14%;

- National funding formula gives less weight to deprivation than local authority formulae;

- Minimum funding level benefited affluent schools

Our sixth annual report on education spending shows changes over time across different stages of education, as well as geographic differences.

This is him taking back the money like he promised at his garden party isn’t it?

Shit head.

Somebody replied to one of the linked tweets with ‘he’s titchy, he’s tetchy his evidence is sketchy’ and it’s now stuck in my head in an irritating song song voice.

Cornettoninja · 12/12/2023 09:20

That’s amazing @RafaistheKingofClay Grin

Rwanda vote will be close... three-line whip, pairing & slips cancelled, foreign trips scrapped.

Climate minister Graham Stuart has left COP28 before end despite fraught negotiations.

David Cameron committee hearing postponed. Panic?

Reminder - just 29 Tories need to vote against, or 57 abstain, for Rwanda bill to fall.

Would be first 2nd reading vote lost by govt since 1986 when Margaret Thatcher lost Sunday shopping vote.

And would be extraordinarily humiliating for Sunak.

Keir Starmer predicts Rwanda bill will sail through: "It will go through tonight I don't have a doubt. There's just a lot of shouting and screaming going on...

"I don't think we should allow them the indulgence of saying it's gong to be very tight and that he's done a brilliant job when it goes through. He's got an 80-seat majority."

On Bibby Stockholm death @Care4Calais says:

"The UK Government must take responsibility for this human tragedy. They have ignored the trauma they are inflicting on people.

"We have regularly been reporting suicidal intentions amongst residents and no action is taken."

Absolutely appalling. Yet more blood on these bastards’ hands. Shame Braverman isn’t still Home Secretary.

How dreadful. Poor soul.

Listening to Yvette Cooper describing the state of refugees and the Home Office inaction that has encouraged the current situation. The only conclusion I can come to is that it has been active practice to allow a "we're being overrun" situation to develop in order to give us an Orwellian sense of having a permanent enemy threatening us. Having effed up Brexit so comprehensively they required a new uniting hate factor. Who's going to be next? Don't think it can't be you or me.
