Wow you tell them, Baroness Warsi!

Notonthestairs · 09/12/2023 22:04

Well, the Telegraph reports that the 'Star Chamber'* has concluded that Sunak's plans aren't 'fit for purpose' ie it doesn't entirely get rid of human rights.

  • the same people that thought we held all the cards and a No Deal Brexit would be a good thing.

Honestly is there no way we can force a GE? I hate elections but I've had enough of little boy clubs soaking up all the Parliamentary time and money.

What we all want to know is, is Dr No in the star chamber?

Notonthestairs · 09/12/2023 22:30

Dr No has to be Bill Cash.

Roussette · 10/12/2023 08:50

Oh my goodness me. The awful Michelle Mone has tweeted that she is giving an interview to put 'her side of the story'. 9am this morning. To be posted on youtube.

https://twitter.com/MichelleMone/status/1733594436851085420

One of the responses "By releasing this video you are creating a conflict of interest for any potential Juror at your trial.
A very deliberate act on your part."

She's going to 'tell the truth' apparently. I think there is an answer to that... will you give the money back?

She pops up on various threads spewing nastines.

Interesting. Imagine turning up on a thread about the funeral of someone famous and complaining that the eulogies of his wife and sister were shown!

Zonder · 10/12/2023 08:59

Wow. Will you be watching, @Roussette ? Or anyone? Not sure I have the stomach for it but would be keen to hear headlines.

Roussette · 10/12/2023 09:03

I can't find it at the moment @Zonder

I wonder if it has to have happened to be put up online

I will report back!

Zonder · 10/12/2023 09:05

Thank you!

She’s in The Telegraph this morning. I guess she and the Torygraph could be charged with perverting the course of justice?

newnamethanks · 10/12/2023 10:06

I'll trust Carol Vorderman's assessment rather than the self-justification of an interested party commenting publicly on a situation still under criminal investigation with other matters sub judice. Thanks anyway Lady Mone, enjoy that coronet. And the ermine. Hope she'll be wearing both on the video. And a decent bra of course.

Roussette · 10/12/2023 10:50

Here is the link to the interview. Not sure I've got the stomach for it

s

25 minutes in before we see her and her husband. It's all very dramatic. She sits down for the interview then suddenly decides she's not up to giving an interview and walks out. That's as far as I've got. They will try again next day. Apparently.

newnamethanks · 10/12/2023 11:09

Don't do it to yourself Roussette, you'll raise your blood pressure for no good reason. She will say - as Bozo - " it wasn't me/my fault. I wasn't there when it happened and I did nothing wrong. I'd do the same again and my conscience is clear. Look at my shiny new crown, nice innit? For services to the country"

AdamRyan · 10/12/2023 11:16

I see the food bank thread went pop

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2023 11:25

Gove was defending her (and the vip scheme) on LK

this is the implausibleblog's take on it with video

https://x.com/implausibleblog/status/1733794526572027959?s=20

"There are a very limited number of things I can say while this investigation goes on"

Michael Gove cites the National Crime Agencies investigation into Michelle Mone over PPE, as a reason why he can't say anything further. He then dismisses the £billion in dodgy PPE suggesting it was the rush during covid that led to it.

In actual fact, we had UK PPE suppliers who had stock but sold it outside the UK as they couldn't reach the UK gov as they weren't in the VIP lanes.

And having worked in China, even I had contacts that could source good quality PPE but my efforts to reach gov buyers were ignored, presumably as I didn't have access to the government VIP lanes.

Fucksake. I wish I understood what the hell they have against human rights. They were good enough for their hero Churchill, after all.

Roussette · 10/12/2023 11:32

Husband doing all the talking.

44 mins in. She comes back in, dressed in different clothes to give the interview.

Then walks out again saying she's not up to it.

Interviewer suggests he takes her to Glasgow where she might feel more comfortable as she comes from there.

The crux of it appears to be that it's the government's fault for awarding the contract in the first place? 🥱😮

Michelle now on camera 55mins in, it's like a flippin' fashion shoot! So many outfits.
"We will win, we've done nothing wrong".
"I've never been part of the Establishment, never will be, never want to be"
(Errrmmmm... Baronness Mone???)

This is just a fluff piece honestly. And again she is blaming the Government for awarding the contract to PPE Medpro.
Now trying to justify why she lied about being involved with PPEMedpro which she has now obviously backtracked on. No excuse. She lied. Her talking at 1hr4mins is pretty shocking. (when asked if she's made any money from PPEMedpro).

The DHSE claim is likely to fail but the National Crime Agency investigation is more likely to succeed (this is what the interviewer seems to think)

This has really been me taking one for the team here!

Oh, I don't think she's creating any conflict. It's no different to people being tried when they've written a book or a newspaper article about whatever they're being accused of, it's very easy for the courts to deal with that. Apart from anything else, I rather doubt that her video is going to get such high viewing figures that it will be in any way difficult to find jury members who haven't seen it.

She's blatantly choosing to do it this way to avoid any awkward questions from either a clued-up journalist or a lawyer. I haven't watched the video and don't intend to, but I bet that if or when she gets prosecuted, all the bits that she conveniently leaves out, skates over and/or twists will provide lots of juicy material for the prosecution barrister.

Catching up on here after a busy few days and thinking about goady threads. The ones that make me super suspicious are the disingenuous, what I would call Double Bluff thread:-

AIBU to think that Labour will be a brilliant government and Starmer is the best thing since sliced bread?

Or maybe I'm just ridiculously paranoid?

Human Rights? Too common, not special enough, everyone can have them free of charge. An entitlement. A benefit. Therefore not valued by our current masters as there's nothing in it for them. Let's get rid of them and all that dreary legislation about workers rights and health and safety as well. Unchain Britannia!. Anyone seen Penny Mordaunt?
