After 10 dyas on the rollercoaster, we now look forward to 5 more pledges and a mini budget

Before or after the election?

Not sure, she is wittering about Johnson being shafted now.

IClaudine · 10/12/2023 19:37

Ah. The prediction is Badenoch leader before a GE.

Covid Inquiry

So to summarise, Rishi Sunak, who promised a new era of "accountability, professionalism and integrity", wants us to believe that not a single WhatsApp message he sent during Covid was pertinent enough for him to have formally retained it for the public record

This excuse is beyond pathetic. Did none of them ever back up their phones?

DuncinToffee · 11/12/2023 12:34

Sunak is postitioning himself as the pot plant in No10....

Shall I write to the enquiry advising them of the existence of whatsapp web?

I use it on my laptop and just looked - it has an archive of all my messages?

I think it is a good idea.

I am increasingly concerned for Sunak's mental faculites. There seems to be an awful lot that he can't remember.

This may also explain how in the last few months we have had Stop the Boats part 1, no nope wrong policy sorry, increase climate change and migration followed swiftly by stop the boats part 2.

Might it also explain why he spent so little time at COP? Did he get there get confused by what all the world leaders were doing and so go home because he had forgotten that he is supposed to be a world leader?

the80sweregreat · 11/12/2023 13:33

Surely the police or the security services can access a phones history ?
Why is it all so difficult when they are meant to be the ones in charge and know what they are doing ?

Jason118 · 11/12/2023 13:51

May I suggest that the contents are so reprehensible that they cannot be shared with the public? It's in all of our best interests that we don't know for sure the level of contempt we are held in.

Do, by all means, suggest it. I think you’ve put your finger on it.

I don't understand it.

I got a new phone and there was quite a lot of WAs I needed. Resurrecting them on my new phone was easy.
Secondly, WA became corrupted and I lost the lot. I managed to get it all back. It was fiddly and I had to watch a lot of youtube but I managed it.

So Sunak saying he got a new phone so can't access anything is complete and utter bollocks.

Basically they are what we in the biz call 'lying'.

countrygirl99 · 11/12/2023 14:20

What age are Sunak's children. If they are over 7 they can probably sort his WhatsApps out for him.

countrygirl99 · 11/12/2023 14:22

Actually I have just checked my stables WhatsApp group and all there going back several years despite me changing my phone a year ago.

pointythings · 11/12/2023 15:11

The politicians really ought to be called out for the big fat liars they are challenged on all this 'lost WhatsApp messages ' bullshit.

The irony being that this is who this incarnation of the Tories are setting themselves up to be. The ones who won’t pussyfoot around the bullshit or offer any patience.

All they’re actually doing is proving themselves as trumpian as the orange one - pay attention to what I’m holding up as contemptible because that’s what I’m actually doing.

And group chats don't disappear because one persons phone has been cut off.

My mum has left all our WA groups because when she died her phone contract was stopped.

Still have her messages in the chats. 🥰

countrygirl99 · 11/12/2023 16:15

I still have messages from groups I left before I changed my phone.

That is such a good point. Maybe one of the other members of the group will find their integrity and whistle-blow the lot. That would bring Sunak down as he would have committed perjury I think? A forlorn hope, I know.

Hope you are OK, @itsgettingweird This time of year can be hard when you've lost someone.

The amazing thing is they are all keen to say how useless all the others were, but strangely kept working with/for them for years.

Yy itsgettingweird 💐
we can wish I suppose, I’m just tired of this nonsense with WA & surprised it’s appears to be taken at face value.
