Thread 11 - TalkLair: “The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles.”

Whoops, missed the filling up of the previous thread! (thread 10).

Although the nights are gradually drawing in, the new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey inside. The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Another five and a quarter hours to go here before the ball falls in Times Square but I'll wish all of you the happiest and healthiest possible 2024.

Happy New Year to us all! May 2024 be an excellent year and bring us all - and especially Mouse - good health and happy times.

Well, what artant said, of course. Happy New Year to all you lovely people!

New Year Penguin GIF by Pudgy Penguins

I seem to be awake after all.

Although as my living room appears to have been invaded by a Rylan and Rick Astley duet of You Spin Me Round (like a record) it's hard to be sure I'm not dreaming.

Happy new year one and all. I've had a lovely chat with a friend wherein I did two small vomits and one not so extreme bowel movement. The love between us is such that this was accepted as perfectly acceptable. I'm a lucky woman.

SinnerBoy · 01/01/2024 02:08

Happy New Year, one and all.

I love that Crows thread.

@MouseMinge how are you doing this morning?

VictorianBigot · 01/01/2024 11:43

From that thread:

Whatthechicken · Today 10:19

I like crows, they chase off the Sparrow Hawks. I’ve posted this before on a similar thread:

The Highways Agency found over 200 dead crows on the M4 near Bridgend recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu.

A Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was NOT Avian Flu.

The cause of death appeared to be from vehicular impacts. However, during analysis it was noted that varying colours of paints appeared on the ...bird's beaks and claws. By analysing these paint residues it was found that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with lorrys, while only 2% were killed by cars.

The Agency then hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviourist quickly concluded that when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow to warn of danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "Lorry"

MouseMinge · 01/01/2024 13:24

I bloody love crows!

@VictorianBigot I'm not sure but I think a little better thus far. My stomach is a bit meh but that could be hunger rather than sickness I think because I think I definitely feel a little less sick. Fingers crossed. Difficult to tell for sure because Francis and I are only just coming to and figuring out how to get up. He'd definitely like some food but snuggling is also on his agenda.

MouseMinge · 01/01/2024 13:36

Movement is now necessary. Django has politely requested breakfast/brunch/lunch and my bladder is reminding me that it's full. Here goes!

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 01/01/2024 14:45

Hope you're having a better day today, Mouse.

MouseMinge · 01/01/2024 15:40

So far, not great but better than yesterday. Cats are fed, Francis and I are back in bed and he's being ridiculously loving but I need to get up, change pj bottoms and set up the feeding tube. It's a long time since I've been so unwilling to leave my bed but I need to not get stuck here, cosy as that feels!

VictorianBigot · 01/01/2024 15:51

(((Mouse and lovely Francis)))

Cats are the best aren't they. I was feeling really down a few days ago and Kasper wouldn't leave my side. And he's so polite in the mornings, staring at me patiently until I get up before asking for food.

Britinme · 01/01/2024 16:38

Skittles is sitting patiently next to my left hand, nibbling it occasionally, as I type.

MouseMinge · 01/01/2024 18:26

Cats are the best. I currently have a Django next to my lap. I finally got the feeding tube set up about an hour or so ago. Probably a bit longer. The day has gone a little downhill but it's a little better than yesterday so blah. Tomorrow, I'm definitely going to set the feed up earlier because I think I've just let myself get a bit too hungry today which hasn't helped.

Kucinghitam · 02/01/2024 10:03

(((Mouse))) I hope you're feeling even better today. I'm glad you're getting plenty of cat love!

I don't remember reading this in Debrette's.

In all the years I've shagged I've never made that announcement, it's always seemed somewhat redundant.
